GO Transit EMD F59PH #561 blasts the emergency horn for some reason before entering the crossing at Mileage 48.38 of the CN Railways Uxbridge Subdivision as it departs from Centennnial GO Station. First day of snow this season!
0:20 if you want to skip to the emergency horn!

ATTENTION: READ THIS BEFORE LEAVING A COMMENT!
It has come to my attention lately that many of the people who are watching this video are leaving comments saying that emergency horns don't exist, that it's stupid calling it an emergency horn, etc. I hope that I can clear up some of the confusion below.
Passenger trains in Canada have horns that have TWO DIFFERENT MODES. The REGULAR mode used only blows THREE out of its five chimes and is relatively quiet. The EMERGENCY mode blows ALL FIVE chimes and is extremely loud. This mode is specifically designed to grab people's attention. That horn blast that you're hearing at 0:20 of this video is the emergency mode being activated, and the remaining three blasts are the normal mode. Trains in the United States DO NOT have this feature. I hope that I've made this clear.
Please do not leave any more comments saying that emergency horns don't exist, that it's stupid calling the horn an emergency horn, that I'm being ridiculous by calling the horn an emergency horn, or that the title of this video is clickbait. Recently, there has been a flood of many of these types of comments on this video, and it is becoming nonconstructive. If you choose to post such comments anyway, they will be removed if I deem it necessary. I thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

Amtrak actually has emergency horns on their p42’s which I have only seen once in a video of the auto train making an emergency stop and it used the emergency horn to alert everyone to stay out of the way
Dang thing scared my socks off!
The follow up question: are the split manifold horns on Via's F40s aired together or separately, or can they be aired simultaneously in the same way as GO's F59s?
@@burdizdawurd1516Official It's either the three chime horn sounding by itself for regular use or the three chime horn and two chime horn sounding simultaneously for emergency use. As far as I'm concerned, the two-chime horn cannot be used by itself (I wonder how it would sound like if it could be used by itself tho...) Hope this helps! :)
Kk
I can tell he wasn't meaning on blowing the emergency horn due to him stop blowing it then go back to a regular whistle. I have never heard a mp50 emergency horn before. Nice catch!
I never heard a F59PH Engine blow the Emergency Horn before. Awesome video btw. :D
Thanks.
trainboy647 no problem. Keep up the Awesome Work. :D
Probably hit the button down a little too hard at the beginning.
@@megarailfan5263 Just a little... xD
You gotta love that F59PH.
561 Gotta be my fav engine for Horns, Great Catch!
train: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I think he didn't mean to use the emergency horn. I think he meant to blow only 3 notes of the K5CA-LS.
One time when I visited Canada the GO trains and Via rails were not really blowing there horns. This is the first time I am hearing it.
Yea, almost the whole GO Transit network has banned horns. The place in this video has horns banned now, too :(
I’ll bet the engineer didn’t know it was blowing the emergency horn
Yea i could tell that he wasn't intending to blow it, but it was still cool and rare!
Emergency stop button
nice F59PH emergency horn catch, ive actually never heard it
thank you!
God that is LOUD 0:21 0:32
I can't believe that those idiots actually drove their cars over the railroad tracks even though a) the crossing bells were ringing, b) the crossing gates were going down, and c) the train was almost within reach of the crossing. It's a wonder that none of those cars were hit by the train.
I remember that day!
AWESOME CATCH!
bruh this is where i go for skastepark days
Maybe his finger slipped
I thought Go Transit and Via Rail horns are just for decoration
Lol haha :) This video was taken before the horn ban. Thanks for the funny comment!
Is the quiet zone there yet yes or no
yes
Nathan K5LSA or K5CA-LS AirChime Airhorn

@@trainboy647 561 is my favourite surviving GO Transit F59PH. 561 is one of the surviving go Transit F59PHs and will be repainted in the new paint scheme and will need Biodiesel. Very good catch
I know this Crossing We are Neighbor's
Why do railfans always put exclamation points after their video titles like the clip is a big deal? Its a horn, so what. And what the hell is an "emergency horn" anyway? Never heard of one and Ive been railroading for 27yrs.
Canadian passenger trains have one horn that produces two sounds. The normal horn only blows 3 chimes, and the emergency mode is all 5 chimes. That loud initial blast in the video is the emergency mode being activated. These horns do not exist on trains in the US.
What’s the point of an emergency horn? Even if it’s louder shouldn’t it be the main horn then because the horn is supposed to warn people on the first place?
They had standard K5LA horns before, but in around 2007-08 people apparently started complaining that they were too loud so they switched to the dual-mode horn.
@@devvydoesstuff but these are trains, isn’t their horn’s only purpose is “get off the tracks or die”?
I actually didn't know GOT had emergency horns i thought it was just VIA :/
Every piece of passenger equipment in Canada is required to have a K5CA-LS
@@AVeryRandomPerson i found that out like 2 months ago but yeah that is true. the reason why i never knew GO Has emergency horns is cause i never heard GO Use them.
They do use them on lines that permit train horn usage
Can You Imagine If The Surviving GO Transit F59PHs have K5Hs
No but I can imagine if they have K5HLs! ruclips.net/video/wKST-Kbg3Zc/видео.html :)
@@trainboy647 say what?!!!
What are emergency horns for?
Drawing attention to the oncoming train when pedestrians and motorists are in an unsafe position relative to the train.
Don't trains blow horns at all Crossings? Never heard of an emergency horn. LOL
A passenger train in Canada has 2 horns: normal and emergency. The emergency mode is REALLY LOUD and sounds absolutely HORRIBLE, and it's used when people are walking in front of a moving train. That's what you're hearing at 0:20. The rest of the horn blasts in this video are the normal mode, which is quite quiet and is the regular horn used.
I have videos of the surviving go Transit F59PHs check it out
What weirdos call it an emergency horn? It a Canadian thing aye?
