i feel like titan redeemer would have been a jaeger that would have easily killed the kaiju in uprising. since it had actual armor and was able to fight compared to the actual final battle where all they did was scratch them
These jaegers were built in a time when the breach was destroyed and the biggest issues they had were rogue jaegers. The EMP’s were likely used to disable any unidentified or illegal jaegers without titan redeemer having to resort to physical combat.
honestly when the first movie came out i was worried about it not having enough story and to much nonsensical fighting, but it had a nice balance. With all of the new designs and the new trailer, and the good cast if this movie also has the correct balance it will be FUCKING AWESOME, or so i hope.

First is that the EMP is for the Kaiju Jaegars, which are clearly visible since they are generic white and you can see the Kaiju blu in the inside. I also predict that titan redeemer will be destroyed. In the trailer Bracer Phoenix can be seen with the Morning star. So my prediction is that since redeemer is new he will be deployed but end up losing and getting destroyed. Bracer Phoenix will then be retrofitted with the morning star and be put into combat as a result of Redeemers destruction . After that Phoenix will be taken out of storage since he’s an older mark V and put into combat. I think the M19 and gunner pod make him very dangerous, close contender with Gypsy Avenger

I'd like to point out those spikes hook in opposing directions. My guess is each row spins also in opposing directions to give both a kinetic impact and shredding flesh with each hit. As for the gyro core and tread feet I feel like we might get something similar to Crimson Typhoons ability to rotate its body at the waist. With how top heavy and off balance this Jaeger is I think it will get in a position "lock" its legs and feet and proceed to engage a Kaiju by rotating its upper half since I don't think it would be capable of "mobile" combat without falling over. This may seem like a bad way to fight, but most Kaiju seem to be programmed to engage Jaegers since they always get in the way, so as long as Titan can rotate fast enough getting good hits every time the Kaiju comes in reach it would be a winnable fight.

The EMP Grenades, just a theory since the rift has been closed off for a decade, they started facing against illegal operators of unlicensed Jaegers. Much like November Ajax, they are used to apprehend illegal and unregistered jaegers. EMP Grenades are very useful for this.
I think with this design they're going back to the original design for Jaegers of delivering max kinetic energy in each blow. In other words if you punch it hard enough it'll stay down. Also this Jaeger although not extremely bulky looks like it can take some hits and be a very close fighter without worrying to much about return blows.
Seeing only one human for the scaling, and also seeing only one pilot in the trailer so far, I hope they are not really making the jaegers single-piloted. Synchronized movement is imo one of the coolest thing in the prequel, not to mention the neural load mechanism behind it.
