The creator of the show said in an interview that she went out of her way to hire people that don't know anything about Star Wars. Her whole plan for this show was to negate Lucas' Star Wars and expand on the last jedi's style and world. She has said these things. Disney is just hiring based on the gender, color and orientation "pokedex" where instead of hiring the best people for the job, they want to hire one of everyone regardless of experience or background...
@gabeitchh I'm not saying people shouldn't be given chances. What I'm saying is that true diversity, when it comes to the workplace, means whoever is best to work on a project, regardless of color, creed or gender, needs to be hired. And I'm not even saying "don't ever try anything new!" But what Kathleen Kenedy keeps doing is hiring women, who's entire personality is hating straight white men, and letting them make shows where they sprinkle and or shove it into the shows they're making. And then it's just preaching instead of entertaining. That's why she's been fighting tooth and nail with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, because she has admitted to wanting to tear down everything about George Lucas' stories.
The problem is not the "not enough creative control" the problem is they hire based on race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation and gender, not TALENT. They don't care about creativity, just diversity. And you CAN judge the actors. Remember the time when great actor performances surpassed a bad script? The actors are hired on the same basis: not talent, diversity. THAT is the problem that kills quality: politics, discrimination, sexism and racism rolled into one.
Jesse, I just finished watching it as well, right now. I kept saying to myself, what in the hell did I watch? It didn't look or feel like Star Wars. The writing was so bad . The acting was awful. Show is ok but few scens made me scream on screen. Like when they found jedi who grank poison, wtf lady it gona look if they find u alone with dead jedi like wtf. And spaceship crash like what are the odds its not going to dust on impact. In rest of starwars even animated series they would navigate ship to land somehow normal. This was a joke. Feeling is most of them are stupid as fuck. I first watched it before too see what people say. Show is ok at best
"not knowing who the characters are" is how original starwars started....the crawl, two spaceships, cut inside to a couple of robots....other than the crawl, theres no exposition, its straight into the action...
Alright, stop me if you've heard this one... An "Acolyte" walks into a bar, walks right up to a master Jedi, and says, "Attack me with all your strength." Sounds like the beginning of a joke, right? Unfortunately, the storytelling doesn't improve from there. Initially, I was intrigued by the mystery surrounding the Sith Lord, but by the time episode two ended, I had lost all interest. The character development, their backgrounds, and motivations are all subpar, lacking the quality of John Favreau or Dave Filoni's work. Once again, Disney's Star Wars dives headfirst into a mess of poorly made shows. It's clear the producers are trying to mimic Lucas's style and the storytelling of Favreau and Filoni, but they fall far short of skilled, experienced, and talented storytelling. I'm frustrated by the poor decisions made by Disney executives, who have distorted George Lucas's vision. Disney, you won't get any more of my money for your trash, politics, indoctrinations, or misleading narratives. Maybe, just maybe, when Kennedy finally leaves, Star Wars will have a chance at revival. This is a classic case of confirmation bias in action!
The worst young jedi actor in the franchise history whose name i did not care to remember watching a fight like 7 meters away through future tech binoculars was the dumbest saddest thing i have ever seen .
I actually liked it. Particularly the portrayal of the Jedi. As for the Anakin blunder, that guy is an actor, not a writer. He doesn’t have to be a fan of the movie to play the role
He also should not talk. He doesn’t have rudimentary knowledge of SW lore…that’s like not knowing Anakin was Luke & Leia’s father. Or that Chewie is a wookie.
Mars is reddish appearing from the outside, looking at the surface it's more of a butterscotch colour and as for water, wet is actually a causality of coming into contact with it water in itself is not wet
I thought the choreography was cheap. The crouching tiger hidden dragon fight at the beginning felt out of place. The fire in space, screams, “I don’t know Star Wars, I don’t know what I’m doing.”
@@freddyr8318 Star Wars got fire in almost every movie. You cant hear sound either in space. Still it wasnt a problem for anyone, at any time in the franchises history.
"Attack me with all your strength..."? Is that the best line a jedi killing assassin can come up with? That entire scene could have been executed without anyone uttering a word, and that would have set up a far more compelling plot (that would have crashed that much harder after they did start talking).
I mean it’s kinda funny that they have the other characters sitting around the Jedi laugh at the assassin. I imagine that it was intended as them laughing at the idea of her challenging a Jedi Knight, but in reality it just sounds like they’re laughing at how corny and dumb her line is.
It falls flat because it's a hollow project made by hollow people. Box ticking and virtue signalling is the real backbone of this story, not great writing and likable characters. Hence it's failure. If you gave the same amount of money to somebody that actually knows what they are doing, you'd obviously get a much higher quality show/film. Disney Star Wars is just terrible, especially in comparison to the original films.
At Star Wars celebration you get people like Hayden, Ewan, Ian etc up on stage and the crowd goes crazy, let’s see Leslie headland and these actors get put up on stage and see how they get received, that will tell you all you need to know about these Disney shows, they’d get bood out of the building
MORE production time? They announced they were making it, like, four years ago! Whether you sit on the toilet for one minute or 15 minutes, you're still just making shit, which is all Disney is capable of these days.
It’s not even like that brother, look into DEI and Blackrock. That’s why these shows are allowed to fail and make no money and piss people off. It’s literal psychological warfare, divide and conquer.
I love this guy's optimism. He thought giving a true and fair analysis of only the cinematic qualities would stop people from calling him a bigot 😂. Bless your heart buddy, we need more optimists like you
I don't agree with your review totally, it's Disney's ownership of the Star wars franchise that has been completely ruined, fans thought when they purchased it with their financial backing an entertaining history, made us feel that they could take Star wars to a whole new level, but none of that happened not in any of the movies shows or any of it, only the Mandalorian had our attention for a short 2 seasons.
We're in a world where Star Wars characters show no emotion and characters raised on Vulcan in Star Trek cry every other scene and won't shut up about their feelings.
lol, Star Trek from what I’ve seen got even more destroyed than Star Wars, super sad considering the new trilogy of movies with Chris Pine was actually pretty good.
Let's be honest though, I have no interest in watching a coven of average looking women do cosplay Starwars. The production and script would have to be overwhelmingly good because I'm not getting my basic geek needs met. If the escapism isn't good I have no interest. It's not complicated.
Woke turns everything into shit for one simple reason. Can you imagine the egg shells you have to walk on just to get anything done? What you write. What you say. What you do. All of it is being scrutinized down to the atom. You will not be able to write anything good or entertaining in that environment. Nothing.
Acolyte breakdown: Woke Disney chokes again, this time creating a black female Jedi killer with two "moms" who is on a rampage to kill all whitey Jedi. I've seen enough.
I remember reading that Tobey Macguire did like 150+ takes in Spiderman just doing that one scene where he catches MJ in the cafeteria and also catches her lunch tray and all the food. Taking that type of time to perfect each scene is whats missing. Its like they fly through scenes and are fine with the first take. Makes me wonder how much money theyre just pocketing from Disney based on the budgets we see.
I personally don’t think it’s that bad so far, it’s definitely not perfect but not the worst thing that’s out there. I just find it entertaining to watch the meat riders and the people hating just to hate argue.
This is what I don't get: Kathleen Kennedy worked with Steven Spielberg for years. He spent months in pre-production working on the script and developed storyboards that included virtually every camera shot. He fgured out which cameras to use, which lenses to use, camera placement, lighting, and a host of other factors BEFORE a single frame of film was shot. This took a long time, but the end result was films being shot within the projected number of days, and in many cases principal photography was finished ahead of schedule. Did KK learn NOTHING from Spielberg? If anything, she should know at least something about keeping production costs down...and maybe a thing or two about what makes a good story and relatable characters.
Kennedy rose through the ranks, early on, via Hollywood nepotism. There is an old interview or two with Spielberg in which he lambasts her abilities regarding movie making. Said she would blurt out ridiculous ideas in creative meetings for his films and would get shut down all the time by the rest. Also stated she was a terrible secretary (original job before marrying Hollywood bigwig).. 😄
Maul has killed Qui Gon and other Jedi yet in the finale of S7 Obi wan and Anakin sends Ahsoka to stop him. Stop acting like this is something new that they’ve done.
1:44 ‘the acolyte is objectively bad’ if that’s not the very most biased thing i’ve ever heard, then i don’t know what is. a LOT of people have enjoyed this show so far, that’s a fact, what an awful video.
@@CheesySalmon stop defending bad writing just because it had been done before. Dave Filoni is not the "savior of Star Wars" people think he is. Ahsoka is his beloved OC, of course he would face her off against Maul, regardless if it makes any sense.
I’m pretty confident that it’s not the producers hindering the content. Sure, there’s some of that, but the content and performances are so bad in these shows all around - they’re Disney shows, and they remind me of classic Disney show acting, but with better makeup. They don’t hire great actors for their most important roles. They don’t hire solid sci-fi writers. It’s when they do so those things that their writers and actors get hamstrung. They have to sanitize everything for the Disney brand, so they can’t go full in on the Star Wars name. People get run through with lightsabers and walk away fine because it’s Disney, marketed to kids.
I started watching this show yesterday. . . and the first 5 minutes, weren't even TRYING to have a good fight scene. Oh, and I felt ACTUAL TENSION for the dad and kid, than the first fight scene.

The main character Amanda whatever looks like she belongs in a high school musical, not Star Wars. My word what a joke.
Annoying narcissistic character.
Now you've cursed us with Star Wars the Musical. Written by Kathleen Kennedy.
Yes it's called giving chances :\
And didn’t she cast her wife who isn’t even an actor
I found that Yord and Jecki to be so annoying and we get a shirtless top moment...My god. The music was so bad too and I felt like I watched a Kung Fu movie soundtrack. And the Jedi robes looked awful. It also came across as a bad version of Star Trek.
100% felt more like a Star Trek rip off than Star Wars ahaha
@@thejessegrant Indeed, Jesse
Nah this show was amazing, had good action, nice character depth, and it looked and felt more like star wars than some of the star wars prequels.
@@LaraA55 Here's a bright idea. Dont watch it and give them money. Everyone on Earth knew this show is going to be terrible, yet you wasted your time and money on it. Thats more pathetic than a shill faking that they like this shit.

Leslye Headland has talked in previous interviews about the fact she blagged previous jobs, saying that she knew what she was doing when actually she didn't. Guess what? She still doesn't.

Yes, unfortunately it is canon.
All the disney star wars is not canon, its so shit, boring, uninspired, this new product that disney brings its looking the prequels look like masterpieces
@Resterminador Sadly how good something is does not determine if it's canon or not.
LUKE!!! What are your pronouns! …NOOOOOOO!
"The Crapolyte". Now, it just needs to be flushed!
Imagine a captain rex solo movie,oh wait they won't because its a man.
It's in production right now. It follows his transition from male to non binary. The last episode shows the picking of pronouns.
What are you yapping about? We have Kenobi, andor, the mandalorian, book of boba . So what? That if they make a project with women it's bad?! Masochistic much?
@@gabeitchh I was making a joke about disney and crappy girlboss movies

I actually like the show so far as of episode 2
I’ll admit some of the ways they fight are quite mid but the story has been good
It’s just started people, let’s wait until the story progresses further to hate
I agree. Hating Disney has become a pastime for some folks. This show hasn't been that bad (yet.)
"NoBoDy HaTeS sTaR wArS mOrE tHaN sTaR wArS fAnS!" - The Shills, like clockwork
I actually liked it. Particularly the portrayal of the Jedi. As for the Anakin blunder, that guy is an actor, not a writer. He doesn’t have to be a fan of the movie to play the role
He also should not talk. He doesn’t have rudimentary knowledge of SW lore…that’s like not knowing Anakin was Luke & Leia’s father. Or that Chewie is a wookie.
In other news, Mars is red.
Mars is reddish appearing from the outside, looking at the surface it's more of a butterscotch colour and as for water, wet is actually a causality of coming into contact with it water in itself is not wet

@@BlacKnightRising Google is water wet buddy, I'll wait 😊
The sky is blue as well
I thought the choreography was cheap. The crouching tiger hidden dragon fight at the beginning felt out of place. The fire in space, screams, “I don’t know Star Wars, I don’t know what I’m doing.”
Uh? You try doing one and a fire in space?! Have you seen the intro to almost every star wars movie?! FIRE when they shoot at theships
Fire as indicator for a laser blast and a Camp fire in space is hard to compare.
Alec Guinness stands up and says, "This isn't the Star Wars you're looking for."
😂😂😂😂😂 no dialog woulda been a flex
It falls flat because it's a hollow project made by hollow people. Box ticking and virtue signalling is the real backbone of this story, not great writing and likable characters. Hence it's failure. If you gave the same amount of money to somebody that actually knows what they are doing, you'd obviously get a much higher quality show/film. Disney Star Wars is just terrible, especially in comparison to the original films.
I watched both episodes, twice. I wanted to like them, I really truly did want to like them. I don't. I was bored, and I disagree on the score.
Her little "attack me with all your strength " pose is reason 5 million this series is PURE GARBAGE , period

Not even Carrie Ann Moss could save the horrid script and acting.
Headland has dirt on someone high up to have the power to destroy a billion dollar franchise with 180 million dollars
It’s not even like that brother, look into DEI and Blackrock. That’s why these shows are allowed to fail and make no money and piss people off. It’s literal psychological warfare, divide and conquer.
“Show runner Leslie Headland former assistant of Harvey Weinstein” was all I needed to hear to have zero interest in this show
Time? They had 4 years and didn't even give the actors a basic background on who blew up the de#ths star....
If you think this is bad, you should just wait until episode three comes out that’s gonna be more controversial than the last Jedi by a mile
I love this guy's optimism. He thought giving a true and fair analysis of only the cinematic qualities would stop people from calling him a bigot 😂. Bless your heart buddy, we need more optimists like you
"The Apostate" more like
I don't agree with your review totally, it's Disney's ownership of the Star wars franchise that has been completely ruined, fans thought when they purchased it with their financial backing an entertaining history, made us feel that they could take Star wars to a whole new level, but none of that happened not in any of the movies shows or any of it, only the Mandalorian had our attention for a short 2 seasons.
We're in a world where Star Wars characters show no emotion and characters raised on Vulcan in Star Trek cry every other scene and won't shut up about their feelings.
lol, Star Trek from what I’ve seen got even more destroyed than Star Wars, super sad considering the new trilogy of movies with Chris Pine was actually pretty good.
feel for carrie anne moss ... her career gets tainted with this dogshit show but she only gets a tiny payday.
how to fix this show- shut it down because it was doomed from the beginning with the people involved.
Nothing.
Thank you. You nailed it.
Terrible acting, terrible writing, terrible directing, terrible fighting, unlikable female characters etc...
Watching Acolyte will make you loose your hair
"Unskilled lesbian's in space" the sub title of Acolyte.
If the characters all look bored, how must the audience feel?
Acolyte breakdown: Woke Disney chokes again, this time creating a black female Jedi killer with two "moms" who is on a rampage to kill all whitey Jedi. I've seen enough.
Disney have had Star Wars for 12 years and have not been able to tell a Star Wars story.
LOL this. This right here 😅
Andor was amazing, but I think it’s a fluke at this point
It's not awful. It's just popular on RUclips to hate on it.
Makes me wonder how much money theyre just pocketing from Disney based on the budgets we see.
after 35 minutes i just want to watch the Mell Brooks movie Spaceballs because that is 100% more Starwars than this crap that Disney made
Why do these grifters act surprised anymore?
It’s pretty fucking obvious Disney is only doing this to cause a reaction out of people like this.
The last good Star Wars was Return of the Jedi (1983).
im going to watch old star wars movies
I personally don’t think it’s that bad so far, it’s definitely not perfect but not the worst thing that’s out there. I just find it entertaining to watch the meat riders and the people hating just to hate argue.
I went to see The Garfield Movie (2024), it was very good and happy 20th anniversary to Garfield: The Movie (2004).
I loved the OG Garfield movie! That’s my childhood right there ahaha
More respect for the source material than the acolyte
Ofc the script is ass in some ways and I think the actors are very medium but overall this is a lot more fun to watch than ahsoka to me
This is what I don't get: Kathleen Kennedy worked with Steven Spielberg for years.
This is Star Wars now. Move on people. They will never capture the magic they once had. Don’t think it’s ever gonna be any better.
Let's send a knight and a padawan to arrest someone who killed a Master...
Maul has killed Qui Gon and other Jedi yet in the finale of S7 Obi wan and Anakin sends Ahsoka to stop him. Stop acting like this is something new that they’ve done.
it’s almost like she didn’t kill the master and that her former master knew it wasn’t her 😮
1:44 ‘the acolyte is objectively bad’ if that’s not the very most biased thing i’ve ever heard, then i don’t know what is. a LOT of people have enjoyed this show so far, that’s a fact, what an awful video.

@@CheesySalmon stop defending bad writing just because it had been done before. Dave Filoni is not the "savior of Star Wars" people think he is. Ahsoka is his beloved OC, of course he would face her off against Maul, regardless if it makes any sense.

I don't even hate the actors I hate Kathleen Kennedy she's butchered Star Wars.
