    There are not enough clips of Bill Walton floating around, I feel like humanity lost so many gems of commentary because of digital media not being a thing during a major portion of his broadcasting career.

      I think they knew it was entertaining. I mean, look, this clip has been viral over the years. They are in the entertainment business. Walton made the games more fun to watch in another way. Comedy and insightfulness.

    The crazy part of this is about 8 or 9 years later, Boris Diaw turned into exactly what Walton was talking about. He may not have been the most athletic guy, nor was he a guy who got you a lot of points, but man did he make PLAYS on that '14 Spurs team.

    I fondly remember when Walton did color commentary for the Clippers and would routinely throw out sarcasm and hyperbole like this all the time on players like Closs, Rooks, Olowokandi, etc.

    Except that if Beethoven played, he’d be better than Diaw’s 8 ppg career average. If I were comparing Diaw with a composer… maybe Massenet. I’d say Tim Duncan’s a better Beethoven.
