Thanks Adam, I was just struggling with the color mask script today and came across this… I can’t wait to give the new script a test drive!! It’ll help a lot.

Very clear instructions as ever - thanks Adam. The new features look great. I guess in a way this is getting closer to selective colour features in other processing apps.

This is awesome...I just installed version 4 a couple of hours ago and now version 5 is available...I can't wait to get this installed and give it a try on some of my data (especially the narrow band stuff)

Game changer! I use color mask script a LOT during tonemap processing.

I am very late to the color mask party. For years I've struggled to enhance certain colors with the Saturation tool and the Curves Trans tool, in the individual R, G and B channels.
This "new and improved" Color Mask is fantastic!
Much appreciate the walk through in this video. Thanks, Adam!

I just tried it, it really is fantastic. It absolutely should be included in the distribution. It has completely changed my workflow.

Thanks Adam! One very usefull feature would be a real-time preview of the mask. Maybe in a future version.

This is so awesome! Icing on the already luscious cake would definitely be a live preview of the mask. Please tell me if this is worked on? I love the way this has been made, yet another reason less to use PhotoShop.

Great job! But I think it would be more convenient to see the result in a separate window rather than the need to reopen the script if the mask is not what I want it to be. Don't know if it's applicable ...

There is now a repository for the script. You do not need to manually install it any longer. Add this to your repositories and Update to download the latest version: www.cosmicphotons.com/pi-scripts/colormask/ (do not click on this link... copy and paste it)

For some reason, this repo URL recently stopped working in PI.

@@neverfox Hmmm... I am not aware of a change... I will try to look into it. Contacting Mike Cranfield (of GHS fame as well) would probably do the trick in terms of getting an answer.

@@AdamBlock It turns out that the issue (which impacts GHS too) was that the repository URLs don't work when you're on some VPNs.

If you need to shorten your back focus you can replace the 11mm ZWO spacer with a 7mm spacer. Some sort of spacer/adapter is needed there because you are mating male threads to male threads, but you can reduce the size a little bit. I used a 7mm adapter, but I think 8mm would be better since the male threads of the camera and the filter drawer bottom out with the 7mm adapter, leaving a small gap where the shoulders of the camera and/or the filter drawer don’t meet the spacer. It works fine, but an 8-9mm adapter would let the shoulders bottom out before the threads do, giving a slightly more secure fit which would be slightly more resistant to sag.

Question for you: would you know what one would use for the hue number of the H alpha line? Just curious...I would guess it's around 20?

    • @AdamBlock
      @AdamBlock  Год назад

Perhaps... but just for a little nuance... Usually when we look at an HII region... we are seeing multiple lines. H-beta (a blue line) is usually a small part of the emission and gives the HII region a slightly magenta Hue. So while H-alpha is just red..an HII region actually is not a monochrome color. :)

Save the zip file and unzip it to your chosen folder. In PI go to the Script menu and select Feature Scripts, click Add and go to where you saved the unzipped script and select the file and click on Done.
