i just got a 5 month old cat, my first cat is already a year old and whenever the new kitty comes too close she hisses at him. today is day 2 and they have gotton closer but old kitty still hisses a bit. i really hope they can get along. by the way, are you cats getting along now?
So a hiss is not aggressive. Its a sign of fear. Loud yelling noises that sound like they come from Hell itself are how you know a cat is angry or trying to intimidate.
My 8 year old is non territorial and my grandmother's 3 year old is very territorial. She's been provoking my cat and they got into it one night. I think he might have win that fight. Right now as I'm typing this, they're staring each other down as if having conversation. Hopefully they become friends.

Did it work out for the two? Asking because I want to rescue a kitten but I am scared my cat will not accept it.
