- Here you can see just about all of the types of buses that go through Downtown Seattle during Rush Hour from King County Metro, Community Transit and Sound Transit. Also a few buses in the tunnel.

I figured as much about the overhead. While LRVs with a trolley shoe could contact only the positive wire a pantograph would cause some major design difficulties. Thanks for the info.
The Hybrids do run in the tunnels, in a special "Hush Mode", which allows more operation from the battery, but the engine can still kick in. Electric Trolley buses no longer operate int he tunnel, and the dual-mode buses they used to have for those runs are mostly retired or converted. Only Light Rail uses the overhead wire now.
Buses In Seattle are like Cabs in New York.
May I ask why buses are so fascinating to watch. Where as cars are less of an interest? Even for me its really interesting to watch.
@punkrawker4783 It sucks that they are taking out the trolley-electric buses next year. Its sad, I love the trolley's. They have cool characteristics about them.
@LitheApo Very true, I would never take a Seattle taxi because it seems pointless. Bus is cheaper.
Well they will be getting modern Electric trolley buses shortly, as the purchase process is underway. RIP bredas

@LitheApo Also, Seattle buses aren't efficiant enough to be as good as the New York/New Jersey Transit system.

@FASSY524 Same reason Rail Fans watch trains, Car fans drool over cars, people looking suspicious filming planes at the airport.....
great, at least they're not replacing them with diesels
@FASSY524 And where did you hear this tidbit of info? Latest is a decision has not come down yet on the fate of the trolley buses, ideas are supposed to be put forward in March for public comment, with a final decision by the end of this year. The trolley buses need to be retired by 2014, so theres still some time they will be around.
Do the hybrid electric's diesels run in the tunnels, or are they battery-only there?
