Just relieved my childhood, those were the days when you sat with your radio and tape player hoping for your fav song to come on. Top 40 isn't the same any-more. Mambo N05 still is big tune for me and loads of spice girls.
It was interesting to see when there was a peek of career of all bands )) Can't believe I have listened to all song in the list ))) Late 90s the best!)))
Ha Ha! Brings back memories. I brought Do The Bartman and The One & Only on vinyl when they came out. Oh how we remember the LONG time Bryan Adams, Wet Wet Wet and then Whitney was number one for what seemed an eternity.
That was great! I would have NEVER thought of some of those songs again! Gosh, music seems to have changed a great deal just since the turn of the century.... Thank you for doing this work - really enjoyed it!
Note that the title is "Number One Hits 1991-1999", which means that it has nothing to do with release dates, or if the songs were #1 previously. For instance "Unchained Melody" came out in 1955 but got a huge comeback in the 90's because it was in the movie "Ghost" and reached #1 again (it had reached #1 previously too).
Without You only hit #3 in the US charts. Her first #1 was from 1991 with Visions of Love, followed by Love Takes Time, and a bunch of others way before Without You.
I was enjoy watching this video as some great song was #1 hit in UK while they were not #1 in the US (R Kelly - I Believe I can Fly, Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way,Lou Bega - Mambo No.5, etc...), but at the same time it's quite pity that some great song that hit #1 in US for multiple weeks does not hit #1 in UK at all (Most Mariah Carey Song, Toni Braxton - Un-break My Heart, etc...). Anyway, 90s music is still one of the best things in my early childhood life. P/S: I was born in early 90s & I start listen song in mid/late 90s when my family switch on their radio to listen. But, my addiction of listening music start in high school life from early-mid 2000s until now. :)
the 90's were awesum, the cartoons, the games and the fact that iron maiden got number one hits and that they got beaten by the simpsons, the fact that the simpsons were a number one hit is also awesum
I came hear just after listening to the 80's #1 list, and it seems quite clear thr 80's were far much better than thr 90's. Well, the 90's were a crap compared to the 80's.
The songs didn't have to come out in the 90s to be number 1 in the 90s. I think Bohemian Rhapsody was number 1 in the 90s because it was in Wayne's World, it just has to feature in a popular movie and it'll get real popular again
Red hot chilli peppers?? Cypress hill?? Snoop dog? Rage againist the machine? Moby? Smashing pupkins? Pixies? R.e.m.? Garbage? The cramberries? No doubt?
If you are referring to Bohemian Rhapsody it was re-released after Freddie's death in December of 91' making it the only hit ever to be at the top of the Christmas charts twice. The others are simply covers versions of songs that came out in the 60's,70's and 80's.
Really enjoyed listening to that, it brought back a lot of memories. Oh and for those wondering, this is no.1 hits in the UK.
I grew up with this music. JB is a year younger than me. Don't hate a generation based on a single person.
Just relieved my childhood, those were the days when you sat with your radio and tape player hoping for your fav song to come on. Top 40 isn't the same any-more. Mambo N05 still is big tune for me and loads of spice girls.

i guess there were so many good songs and singles back in the 90's that none would be able to keep the top spot for more than a few weeks :P
It was interesting to see when there was a peek of career of all bands )) Can't believe I have listened to all song in the list ))) Late 90s the best!)))
Even more thumbs up if you still remember the music videos on MTV in every scene!!
They probably re-entered the charts again in the 90s.
LOVE this, some really greay songs and it takes me back to my youth. The 90's was a great era for music!
You completely left off One Sweet Day, which DOMINATED the charts FOREVER.

Started getting shit around 96/97 for me. Evidently the influence of manufactured pop began to dominate the charts around this time
Telebubbies remained at number one for 2 weeks, The Verve - Drugs don't work only 1 week. Sums up how awesome the 90s where haha, 92' was my year.
That was great! I would have NEVER thought of some of those songs again! Gosh, music seems to have changed a great deal just since the turn of the century.... Thank you for doing this work - really enjoyed it!

cancer is something we should embracewith open arms :)
This is number one Hits from the UK charts and as such it should be labeled as so in both the title and the description.
Ah ok. Mystery solved. I was wondering who most of these people were.
Metallica? Creed? Van Halen? Alice In Chains? Nirvana? Soundgarden? Come on brah, your killin me!
Just to clear up any misunderstanding this is the UK number ones from the UK charts.

Tank you

A música Please Don´t Go foi o maior hit de 92 com o DOUBLE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the UK chart, people. Sure, Mysterious Girl went to #1, but only after it was re-released.
It's odd, I don't remember half of these songs. And I was born in 1978.

You should make it clear that this is a mixture of the U.S. HOT 100 and the UK TOP 40. A lot of the songs on here never even charted in the U.S.
