    My cats love watching birds. but i enjoyed this one more. I love watching birds and this was an incredible view. Watching a bird build a nest isn't something you see every day. I watched it on a faster speed setting, Thank you. I hope you. I hope you have more videos similar.

      This is speculation, but it's possible that the nest being built to fall apart could have been done on purpose. One time some robins made a nest on top of a light fixture on my house. The following year, the pair wanted to nest somewhere else. However, instead of foraging for new material, the female found her old nest, knocked it onto the ground and, after a rain washed off the mud holding it together, used what's left to build her new nest. That was only possible because the nest was made to be flimsy.

    Thank you! We just had a Robin build a nest which I'm in awe of. I wasn't able to actually see how she made it, it's fascinating, I'm really enjoying your video. I'm excited to see the eggs and then the babies. We had another nest a few years ago which I thought was a once in a lifetime treat, and here it is again on the other end of the porch. Thanks again for making and sharing your great video. Amazing, truly.

    A Robin keeps hanging around our old pickup truck flapping around for about 2 days now. We've checked all around and inside it to see if there might be another bird somehow in trouble, but don't see anything. This has never happened before.
    It's definitely nest building season. Any ideas if the bird is trying to alert us to something? There is now poop all over the back window and ledges. Thank you.

    i have a robin building a nest right now, a million trips to my grass back to her nest, so appreciate this video so i can see the process. i like how he ir she plops in it to form it. Do males or females build the nest, or either ? thanks

    • @HandsomeNature
      @HandsomeNature  3 года назад +5

      I believe the female usually builds the nest, while the male will sometimes bring the female materials. It's a really neat process to watch!

      @@HandsomeNatureYou know on observation of a hummingbird building up her nest for her chicks, she builds the entire nest by herself using materials she finds, along with the spider web she uses by weaving it to ensure flexibility of the nest as her chicks grow. Usually she forms the nest into a cup size where she lays two eggs, usually one day apart, the size of jellybeans. She also does her stomping, like this female robin did in the video, to make sure the materials used to form the nest is packed up tightly.

    Question, I had a couple robins build a really nice nest on our patio in about two days. Since then I haven’t seen any robins near the nest. Do they just desert the nest like that??

    • @HandsomeNature
      @HandsomeNature  4 года назад +4

      Hey Tony. I’m not sure where in the world you live, but here in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 it’s been getting warmer so we’ve been spending more time outside. Perhaps your using your patio more and the Robins no longer feel comfortable nesting close to human activity. Just a thought.

    • @tony7610

      Nah, we’ve purposefully have not gone out the back door since we saw them building the nest. Shame if there not gonna use it, they did a hell of a job. (Montgomery county, pa). Thanks for getting back.

      i have a mallard couple who visit twice daily, since late March, food and she takes a bath in the "pool" i created, and now that it's warmer i give my yard to them if they're there, they don't fly off when i come out but i keep a distance so they feel safe,,,but i think it's funny we love wildlife so much we give them the yard

  • @annecohen8927

    I thought of an idea. You could make a railing along the length of the ledge so the nest can be secured as well as being the perfect place for the robin to build her nest for her babies. Just imagine the Mama Robin admiring the view whilst preparing herself for her new family. What do you think?

      well, i'm not quite sure how you would be able to predict when and where a robin is going to start building a nest (unless it's in a birdhouse). my guess is that this person noticed the twigs and thought they should start recording.
