GQ Chop 2 - FABRICATING a REAR WALL from SCRATCH

  • After several years of abuse on the beach & in the bush, the GQ Patrol is full of rust & covered in dents. After my recent trip to Cape York, I told myself I would send it one last time through the $1000 Track as a wagon & then it would be time to chop it into an extra cab ute & rebuild it fresh & ready for it's next life.

    • @timmyhasheart
      @timmyhasheart  8 месяцев назад +1

      Haha man no idea, bitta 50x50, bitta 100x50, bitta 25x50, bitta zinc sheet, not including the tray. just grab some and start cutting 🤙🏻

  • @skindog4206
    @skindog4206 Год назад

    Good onya mate for giving the chop a crack. Just wondering if welding on the zink sheet is burning it producing the gass that gives u zink poising?

    • @timmyhasheart
      @timmyhasheart  Год назад

      Dunno, how long does it take to kick in? I’ll sing out if I wind up in hospital, I think the material is called Zinc Eneal? Maybe the wrong spelling but something like that, not Zinc Allume

    • @bobwhatshisname2161
      @bobwhatshisname2161 Год назад

      @@timmyhasheart Zinc Allume is zinc coated allluminium. I don't know if what you are using is called the same here but in NZ it was called electro galv. It is much nicer to weld than galv sheet and offers good rust protection over normal panel steel. The zinc does add a bit of heat as it burns off but nothing too serious. It is the galv that causes a lot of the sparks when you are welding. You are not doing enough welding to suffer from zinc poisoning but if you are doing lots of galv pipe welding then it can be an issue. Symptoms are you will feel nauseous and unwell. Quickly run a flappy disk along the edge to take some of the surface electro galv off and it will weld a bit nicer. Used to find 0.8 wire was best. Welder sounds nice.👍

    • @timmyhasheart
      @timmyhasheart  Год назад +1

      Ahh so if I need anything more than 4 metres I’ll go to an actual steel yard that sells lengths. But if I only need a metre or two I’ll go to nubco or Bunnings yeah, it’s so much more expensive though.
