  • A walk from Loweswater in The Lake District over two Wainwright Fells, Mellbreak & Hen Comb. The walk starts from the village of Loweswater and climbs the steep North side of Mellbreak before heading along the ridge of Mellbreak to the summit. We then descend to the valley of Mosedale before another steep climb to Hen Comb. Distance is around 7 miles.

    Wow is all I can say to that... maybe a bit more. 4k was awesome on my TV, pixel perfect. Crummock water looked so still at first then those shots from the side, breathtaking. Laughed that you cut the crossing out lol. We did not double back like you did just bashed straight over from Scale Knott, wasn't good. Great film really enjoyed it

      Thanks Graham, appreciate the comments. I think I would have to make the video an 18 certificate if we had left the crossing in from Mellbreak to Hen Comb, ha. Thanks again. Cheers. Eddie

      Hi Pete, thanks for the positive feedback on the videos, it is really appreciated. The views from Mellbreak are really good and worth the effort. I remember it was quite steep heading up Hen Comb. I have also done a walk up to Mellbreak and back along Crummock Water which was also really nice. Just been watching a couple of your music videos, great stuff. I have been trying to play the guitar off and on for a few years now, but nowhere near your level! Thanks again for watching & for the comments. Take care & Best Wishes. Eddie.

    Amazing. I hadn't realised Crummock Water was so dramatic. You can almost see and feel the weight of the ice carving out the landscape all those years ago.What a lunch venue!Thanks for taking the camera with you and the great video and stills. Have a good week!

      Thanks Elizabeth. Mellbreak is another one of my favourite fells. The view looking over Crummock Water is superb. I plan to go up this fell again, but walk back along the shore of Crummock Water. We always like to find a good view to have our lunch or to have a coffee. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Take care and have a great week! Cheers. Eddie.

      I hope that you rewarded yourself with the traditional pint in the Kirkstyle, it looked hot up there (for a change). Wonderful video and nice to see someone naming the fells and mentioning the Solway coast and the view of the Galloway hills in Scotland.

    Superb video Eddie, great shots of wonderful scenery, nice to see Carol with you. You were lucky with the weather again. Derek and I were up Mellbreak a few weeks ago and we did intend to go on to Hen Comb but it was heavy rain and and windy so we cut the walk short and came back down along the path beside Crummock Water. Well done Eddie, always enjoy watching your videos. Mary

      Thanks Mary, I appreciate the comments. The weather forcast was good for that day, so wo took a chance, pleased we did as the weather was really good. It was a tough climb up Hen Comb after coming down from Mellbreak and we were both" knackered " by the time we got up Hen Comb. Thanks again Mary. Cheers. Eddie

    Quality video Eddie, we both enjoyed every minute of this and great to see Carol out as well, especially on such a brilliant day. Looked a canny pull at the start but so worth it for them stunning views and walk along the ridge. Loving the commentary along the walk and at the start. Lucky (again) with the weather mind, we had an overnighter in the Lakes last weekend, so I thought I would have two filmed walks, all I got was two rain days :( Great watch, really enjoyed it, cheers Alan

      Thanks Alan, appreciate the comments. Yes it was steep going up Mellbreak, but you're right, worth it for the views. Carol really enjoyed it, we sat at the top of Mellbreak looking over Crummock Water & Buttermere for quite a while and didn't want to leave as the views were so good. Ha, you're right about the weather, Lucky again! Pity about the weather you had for your overnighter. It is a gamble with the weather at The Lakes, you can never tell how it will turn out. Thanks again. Cheers. Eddie.

    Well done to you both a magnificent film on an equally magnificent day weather wise. Some truly stunning scenery, what type of camera are you using? The good thing with your films Eddie is that you move/pan the camera slowly and smoothly so avoiding that nausea feeling some films have. Cheers ⛺️

    • @eddiecaisley5746

      Thanks Mike, I appreciate your comments. We had a great day and the weather was superb.. The video is shot using a GO PRO Hero 6. I have just bought it, so this was my first outing with the new camera. The stills are taken on my NIKON D5600. Panning the camera when filming is quite tricky. It is hard judging what speed to pan the camera.(Sometimes it is too slow, other times, too fast) I also consider a start point and end point for the pan. Thanks again. Cheers. Eddie

    Hi Eddie, would you say Mellbreak on it’s own is ok for a novice of mountains? Experienced myself but thinking of taking someone up there in the summer. Many thanks, Matt

    • @eddiecaisley5746
      @eddiecaisley5746  3 года назад

      Hi Matt. The initial climb up Mellbreak is fairly steep with loose scree. As long as the person you are taking up, is ok with that section of the climb, it should be ok. From what I can recall, there are two sections of loose scree on the way up, they are both manageable. The walk along the top of Mellbreak is straight forward, but can get boggy in places if it has rained recently. A good walk would be to walk over Mellbreak and down the other side of the fell, returning along the shore of Crummock Water. I have done that, it is a nice walk back beside the lake. All in all, I would say yes, it should be ok. Definitely worth going over to the side of the fell from the summit to get the views looking over Crummock Water, they are superb. We sat and had coffee at the side of the fell, we could have sat there all day!. Hope this is of some help. Take care. Cheers. Eddie

      @@eddiecaisley5746 Thanks Eddie that’s very helpful information. I’ve done the Fleetwith Pike/Haystacks route before but I remember the Fleetwith Pike ascent was pretty steep. But as you said, there are some terrific views over that way. Many thanks again, Matt

    • @eddiecaisley5746
      @eddiecaisley5746  3 года назад

      Hi, I would say you could get to the summit of Mellbreak in roughly 2 to 2 & a half hours. It is a pretty steep climb up in places, but well worth it for the views at the side of the fell looking over Crummock water. I have also walked up Mellbreak and came down the far side of the fell and back along Crummock Water, which is a really nice walk. Cheers. Eddie
