Cammy, I don’t think it’s horrible that you talk as much as you do. It makes the episodes feel like I’m sitting in on a conversation. I’m not a farmer so take that into consideration, but I enjoy the multiple viewpoints, insights, and everything that each person at the table brings to the conversation.

The podcast is like sitting at the farmers' kitchen table with a bunch of neighbors talking about their stories. Good and bad, trade secrets. Something I enjoyed and appreciated growing up and then moved away from. Your podcast talks about legacy futures, something which should have been spoken of 15 - 20 years ago. I've noticed that too many farms in Canada go into big business co-ops, who are hired in farmers.

Thoroughly enjoyed that chat and as always learned a bit more. Think the fact your guests are known to you fairly well makes for a good blether rather than an interview. Look forward to next week. Thank you.

Another brilliant podcast , loved all the funny stories , 🤣🤣🤣the laid back podcast style with Cammy and Iona banter, makes it all the more fun to watch and still so informative and educational for folk like me a non farming background ( but nursing) would love to change now from caring for folk in A&E to sheep/lambs out on a field lol, if I was only 20yr younger.😀 keep them coming

First 20 minutes you hardly said a word Cammie! Then you got to shearing conversation and all holds were off 😆 Settled back down when it got to the Monitor system. It was all great listening! Looking forward to the next one!

The greenwashing in Ayrshire is rediculous. So many trees. You cant eat a pinetree.
Smithston farm for example outside Patna. Lovely grass, great for sheep. Now trees. Brilliant.
Had the pleasure of going to two meetings at The Andrew's place. Learned something both times and met some good contacts. Christine was great contact for getting along to visit.

Once i was watching/ listening this i realised that i must be the same age as John your guest.😊
Love hearing the history of the farms.
My wife's Grandfather took on a farm tenancy in 1929 in his mid 20s.He started milking cows but being in Essex they converted to arabel in the 1980s. His son is still the Tennant at 87. Sadly no children to take it on.
Keep the great waffle coming 😊

Stupid question. In raising lamb to eat do they all taste the same?
Or are you raising for wool? There must be a difference or am I wrong. You raise beef for taste.

Cammy raises sheep for the table. Scottish sheep are prime, so they are commonly sold in Europe for the wealthy people. That's why one could actually make money farming sheep in Scotland. They also sell the wool, but there's not much money in wool for your effort, to my understanding.

@@jillcrowe2626Cammy did a tour of The British Wool Assn and after Covid they had a gross stockpile of wool. Trying to promote wool for anything but carpet they were saying was difficult because most breeds wool was so course they were irritating to wear. It’s worth going back to watch. Shows grading, everything

    Excellent podcast
In Canada the price of land is inflated unless the farmers going under and selling to developer.
It was estimated in 2023, 396 farm acres were sold to develop a day in Ontario.
Leasing a massive barn with a few acres isn't too difficult.
Leasing 12 or more acres with home isn't attainable.
Who has 12 or 17k a month for rents when the bank is still on the hoof standing.
Eventually you will find what you need Cammy.
Resting the land is smart, renting while it rests I could see frustrating.
Shame you couldn't visit Sandi friends. They have both inside and out.
Rations can reduce size of the lamb weeks before arrival but with that you can have other concerns with the ewes.
    Thanks again for sharing
