The reason the cushion and monster tires have more invincibility than their counterparts is because when you land onto the ground, the tires sometimes make you bounce which can really mess up your driving, but I don't know why the other counterparts are like that.
I once time bounced onto the offroad on dk summit, and had i not had monster tires, i wouldve fell off, but instead I bounced and landed back on the track. Not saying it's a valid reason to use them, but it's a funny thing that happened.
I'd say non-rollers are better for heavier characters sometimes for traction and extra speed, or lighter characters who can sacrifice a smidge of miniturbo for speed, which they lack.
The monster tires really put the MISTER 💪😤 in mr scooty
Based on the WR time trials, longest tracks in the game are
Wii Rainbow Road - 2'31"599
Wii Maple Treeway - 2'22"604
DS Waluigi Pinball - 2'18"706
so yeah you're right, Maple Treeway is one of the longest tracks in the game.
Oh also: I couldn't find any information about why some wheels just have a higher invincibility stat outside of unsourced comments saying it's because they have a slightly larger hitbox, even though they look the same size.
@@ventsent nah its just cuz some of the wheels bounce like the cushion, monster, sponge, all the big and thick ones. It messes driving up and makes you unable to do some tech
According to a shortcat... well, short, I saw a while ago: cushion and monster wheels will make your vehicle do a small bounce on landings which can sometimes mess up your drift if you try to do so immediately after landing.

as a Cushion wheel user, I will admit the bounce can suck, but the bounce can also be useful at times. It's easiest to let the wheels speak for themselves as I don't know how to explain it exactly.

Ok, so the thing about the cushion and monster tires is that they make you bounce when you land, making your handling worse. So the cushion tires are definitely worse than the sponge tires

I disagree with the button and leaf wheels because I think those wheels are S tier as well as the roller and azure roller wheels but that is just my opinion and all the other wheels/tires I agree with the tiers you gave them
You wouldn’t think wheels would matter in a Mario Kart game when there are different kinds but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe proved that they matter, 100%.
The funny thing with the balance of these vehicle parts and characters is that the lighter, slower parts get acceleration, handling, and mini-turbos, which is basically just speed as well, while the heavier parts just get speed and weight, which are pitifully weak in comparison.
I think the funniest/saddest demonstration of that is when Shortcat showed the slowest combo in the game outpacing the fastest combo on a STRAIGHTAWAY by having 10 more coins.
Ridiculous.

Monster wheels and the cushion wheel hav the same main issue of sometimes upon landing from a jump they make you bounce which can ruin mini turbos also i think slicks are ever so slightly better than metal since it has same ground speed and mini turbo but but slightly more anti grav stats compared to metal which is better than neutral in the 3 extra speeds
you were right about the differing invincibility stats being different because of the size of the hitboxes

The cushion tires also have a strange bounce to them when you hop which can mess up shortcuts and whatnot.

I love the Leaf Tires (Buttons have same stats but look worse). They are argueably as good as rollers, as they have the same Speed + MT total and the Acceleration + Anti-grav speed bonus. The difference is they have less miniturbo and more speed, which makes them nice for variety and a work visually better on a lot more karts.
Then again, all tires have the Speed + MT total, so while some are better than others, you do have a lot of great options.

I love that the GLA tires are a straight upgrade over Standard. The difference is minor, but it's funny there's one at all.

Cushion and (Hot) Monster Tires are the only tires in the game that make your vehicle "bounce" screwing up your drift and landings, that's why Nintendo gave them so much Invincibility trying to compensate (but that's still not enough). This true/false tire property in 8 Deluxe used to be an actual stat in Mario Kart 7: Stability. Even if Stability used to be coded in 20 levels like every other stat, it actually could only assume 3 different levels (level 1, level 5 and level 9) so it wasn't a true/false property, but a 3-levels stat.
Oh, I used Standard Tires with Mr. Scooty, too a couple of times before it feels like Teddy Buggy on Rollers
Typically I switch my Wheels to make which track I think will be picked or the one I want picked. I also change Karts and characters as well but my go to Wheels are Azure Roller, Crimson Slim, and the Triforce Tires, with Blue Standard and Leaf Tires for when I want a change of scenery.

My opinion on most of the differences in Mario kart is preference and experience takes all. I’ve seen people on terrible combos that are better than anyone else. It really comes to skill and experience with a combo, not the stats.
The cushion tires are special as they are Lemmy tires as his name is sewn on them, as well as having his colors and they're bouncy. Pretty s-tier for me, I swap between them and azure rollers a bit~

GLA Wheels all the way. Throw them on something with meta stats like the Comet (minus inside drift) and you've got a near meta stylish combo that doesn't look like it came from a kids toy store.

Fun fact, slim tires have high anti gravity speed, that's why the speed stat is that high i think... Good for anti grav time trials :)

The reason you say everything looks much more manageable than thought is what I told you in the last video. In wave 5, everything that was low tier (except gliders lol) got heavily buffed so that the difference with the meta is not that big. And they did a pretty good job imo. Nice video too 🫡

For 150cc you trick off the ramp in the beginning section and in 200 you drift off the ramp because all the speed and momentum you can't tricking on 200 cc or just make you run into the wall

Underrated wheels I would say are the Ancient Wheels
Overrated Wheels are the Cushion Wheels because they make you bounce when you land.
Cushions are pretty good bc of it's invincibility but u can use sponge instead if u don't want the bounciness

I think the slim wheels are the best in a situational sense. They are considerably faster than the rollers, even if their mini turbo suffers as a result, and their handling is nearly the same, only losing one point on antigrav compared to the rollers. In other words, they’re practically built for 200cc or tracks where speed would otherwise be better but the turns are a bit too sharp for the slick wheels.
Take a shot for every blue shell that hits Troy

Others have mentioned the bounciness of the monster tires, and it seems like you messed up the double cut in the first lap with the monster tires because of the bounciness.
My go-to tires are Crimson Slim for up to 150 and Button for 200, so I'm happy where they landed on Troy's tier list.
