I was looking over some Jaws storyboard sequences yesterday.... There were numerous shots that were planned but unable to be done.
It would be interesting to see some of these realised. The sharks sillhouette circling Alex Kitners raft was a plan view helicopter shot. This may have been an animation and optical composite.
The initial attack on Alex Kitner that famous still image. This was practical effects but it's not entirely needed to see the chomp down so much, although there is surely a missing cut away to Bruce
I also noticed a shot missing where chief brody is reflected in the sharks black eye would have been an optical composite.
There could be more but those 3 stood out as missing. I wonder what the Imax version will be like?

Good stuff. Maybe a modern Jaws sequel isn’t such a bad idea...

Wow these are amazing. Sometimes a little too much elaboration for me, however the desire to enhance and change the shot angles etc would be strong with so much freedom! These are really incredible though!

Really appreciate what you've tried to do for the Alien series. Your Alien effects were brilliant and just what it needed for a tidy-up (the way the chestburster slithers off the table is stunning), the same goes for Aliens' dropship scenes which are absolutely gorgeous here and wish they could be in an official modern 'final cut' of the movie, but sadly your version of Alien3 doesn't work for me. Don't get me wrong, your effects were great and actually far better composited than the original film, but that's simply *not* Alien3's alien, aka. 'the dragon'. The thing about each film in the classic trilogy was that the Alien itself was unique to that film, and for me Alien3 had the most beautiful of the bunch. The key thing about Alien3's creature was its human mouth. Taking influences from Giger's new design for the movie, it has both human lips and human teeth, with a low-set carapace; it's an uncanny valley psycho-sexual mirror of humanity whilst simultaneously horrific-looking quadrupedal beast of relentless horror. I know the puppet effects are janky, but the practical head is, for me, the best the creature ever looked. And in your version, it's replaced with the large-chinned fang-toothed Alien Resurrection/AVP version of the creature and it just simply isn't reflective of Alien3's "the dragon" and doesn't naturally flow into the franchise defining face-off scene that follows. Knowing the individual alien design in each of the first 3 films is the biggest strength in reinterpreting its effects for any reworking. The 'big chap', 'the bugs' and 'the dragon' are 3 very unique versions of the same creature and I don't feel they can be retconned into ever being one simplistically similar creature without understanding what made each version special. This is Alien3's 'dragon', the monstrously beautifully blind Bambi, and it needs to be forever remembered as such: static.wikia.nocookie.net/moviemorgue/images/9/97/Dragon_Alien.webp/revision/latest?cb=20211120192821

Thank you and we appreciate the descriptive reply. These were all created as experiments as to how they could be reworked but not by any means the final versions we'd put into the movies. Because it was just as exercise we spent no money on these and having a photoreal version of the Alien 3 design made for one test shot would be a waste. So for this we simply used models available to us.

@@Escelce Thank you for the insight, honestly can't commend your work enough, hope my over-protectiveness of The Dragon didn't in any way come across as disrespectful haha. Would love to see a hybrid cut of Alien3 (the extended prison scenes but with the dog birth) with fully reworked special effects like that, the film would look absolutely incredible. Is there any major project or fan-edits that you're looking to ever put together or do you just specialise in small scenes?

@@ReleaseTheCanines No disrespect at all. It's the fans like you we want to impress because then we know when we get it right. We tried these scenes as a test to see if there was an audience for it. It had fewer views than most of our videos so we moved on. It is something I would love to actually do for a living. Rather than remaking great movies, just polishing them up to suit today's audiences so they can enjoy them too. But until we see a big call for it, we'll focus on other areas. If we ever return to Alien 3 I promise we will run it by you. I want to get it looking as it's meant to have been seen. Take care.

@@Escelce I think it's just a case of this being a 'classic films' compilation that means not many people would search for this video specifically, it's nothing against your work. I found your channel by looking up new SFX specifically for the Alien trilogy (especially 3) and came across your extended birth sequence for the original Alien. The birth itself was brilliant, so much better than the janky puppet and sadly almost laughable running-off sequence that follows in the real movie, though personally found your 'in utero' elements were a bit too on the nose and spoil the suspense and reveal to a new viewer (but appreciate what you were going for). But can't stress enough, your chest bursting scene and table escape were FANTASTIC (for me the only thing that'd improve that further than your version would be to have the more vicious Aliens or Alien3 chestburster hissing squeal rather than the more silly sounding 1979 sound effect it makes when it first mews upon birth. I actually didn't find this compilation until I actively went into your profile and searched for your other videos, so for me personally, and if I speak for any like-minded others, maybe a highlight reel of the just the Alien franchise etc. and being more specified would just have more people discovering it :)

Nice Work! Any Love for Conan the Barbarian? Check conan completist forum so many things from mattes and foreground miniatures not fully envisaged or comitted to film amongst the Snake in the Pit could be a good re-do there is an alternate take in the trailer too. Milius said himself he'd wished he had done it differrently.... 40th Anniversary this year.
Keep the Jaws and Alien stuff coming it's excellent.
