I love your videos Fred you have inspired me to go and buy a bunch of liquor, mixers and liqueurs,me and the old lady we sit in the house and get wasted,my first time making those Jack Daniels cocktails for friends they were impressed, keep those recipes coming
Just made the Blue Hawaiian and it is now one of my favorite cocktails! Cold, sweet and reminds me of summer; just what I needed! Took awhile to make it though because a lot of stores are out of blue curaçao and cannot get it in. Thanks anyway, Fred!
My Mia Tia is a bit different! I use 1oz. light rum, 1/2 oz dark rum, 1/2 triple sec, 1/2 oz Sweet and sour mix, and 3 oz pineapple juice. or 41/4oz pineapple juice depending on preference
Hey, a friend and me are making our own bar in his backyard, its really big with a roof and all that kinda stuff, and we're really happy with the video you made. We're gonna celebrate his 18th birthday with a really big party and we're gonna make lots of cocktails. Thanks for your video, its very useful!
I love the video and the drinks, but I think the Mai tai recipe could be changed to emulate a more accurate version of the original drink. Just an idea
Awesome drinks, that blue Hawaiian looked so good .. I am in the process of becoming a bartender :) what kind of pinapple juice do you recommend would be the freshest ?
The Blue Hawaiian and Lava Pit looked pretty damn good but in terms of being true to actual tiki recipes, your Mai Tai and Zombie are WAY off. Like, not even remotely in the same ball park. Although, they’re probably still tasty considering what you put in them.
MrFredenza a quick google and you will find that Lava Flow is much more widely known in Hawaii. Like I said, I’ve only ever seen this and never seen a lava pit cocktail in Hawaii. I found out what simple syrup is. It should be orgeat syrup.
Couldn't watch the video after your "Mai tai"....im sorry but what abomination was that? And what's up with the tumbling? Cocktails are shaken or stirred to not only incorporate ingredients but to chill the drink and add dilution.
Trader Vic’s recipe although one of the originals was a secret for years. This is the version most people knew before the original was released. It’s still a great drink regardless of whose version it is, I prefer trader Vic’s but a good drink is a good drink. If he called it another name many would say that’s a mai tai, and many trader Vic’s connoisseur wouldn’t know it was the knock of mai tai drink it and love it. So it’s just names and recipes all that matters is that it will taste good.
Whereas I am sure that these drinks are delicious, the Mai Tai and Zombie are nowhere near the traditional recipes. Would I drink these drinks? Probably, would I call them by these names? Nope.
@@CorySchoolland or you can create your own RUclips video and do it how you like instead of taking the time to complain on someone else's videos about cocktails.
MrFredenza, It's true though. The original Mai Tai is made with Lime, Orgeat, Rum, Curacao and Simple Syrup. The one you show in this video is one of the counterfeit ones made because the original recipe was a secret of Trader Vic's for a long time ;) Beachbum Berry has compiled all the original recipes in his books. Same with the Zombie, which originally contained: Puerto Rico, Demerara and Jamaican Rum, Cinnamon Syrup, Grapefruit, Bitters, Absinthe (Or Herbsaint/Pernod, I guess), Falernum, Grenadine and lime juice.
I don't think MrFredenza is interested in honoring cocktail origins, or indeed the final outcome of the drink. If he were he would have done a bit of research. He just doesn't care. And his tens of thousands of subscribers don't appear to, either.
What was that ? That isn't a Mai Tai Quit teaching people the wrong recipe Very bad! If you want real recipes with history try The Distinguished Bartender or Spike's Breezeway Cocktail Hour These are fake drink recipes

In the zombie, what did you use for the brandy?? Was it a cognac or a standard brandy?
Standard Brandy but you can use Apricot Brandy as well
Never thought of using 3 different types of Rum for that one, they look so cool!!

Hello!!! Great idea!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
that may be a lovely drink but it isn't a mai tai by a counrty mile
That's definitely no 1930s trader Vic's mai tai lol
Lmao.......thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Lyons Brand. You can also purchase fresh or frozen strawberry and Puree (blend) . ENJOY!!!!
Awesome drinks, that blue Hawaiian looked so good .. I am in the process of becoming a bartender :) what kind of pinapple juice do you recommend would be the freshest ?
Brianna Champion all I have ever used is Dole. Good and economical.
Not a Mai Tai.

Any brandy will do....I used Christian Brothers... thanks for watching and commenting
😍👍
Thanks for watching!!
That was NOT a Mai Tai!
Lol....thanks for watching and commenting....
supper
I tried the mai tai it was delicious.
wildernessman fantastic!!!!!
Glad you liked it even though it's not a Mai Tai. I know there are several versions of official Mai Tais over the years. This ain't one of them.
Like if you where looking for spongebob’s song
the delicius
Yes they are!! Thanks for watching!!

With all due respect to you, I suggest looking up what a Mai Tai is. I'm sure your drink is good, but it's not a Mai Tai.
Lol...well thanks for watching!!!
That is not a Mai-tai you made there.
Lol...thanks for watching and commenting
what kind of nonsense is this? these cocktails arent even close to being right...
LOL
seriously...
MrFredenza wait you forgot to say aloha
Aloha
Like where’s the orgeat, grapefruit, lime juice, etc.
Thats the worst mai tai i've ever seen
Lmao....it is delicious.
I do appreciate the comment...
Thanks for watching!!!
Trader Vick is tossing in his grave.
What the hell is simple syrup??? In that mai tai ???? Nothing like I had in Hawaii. Also how the hell do I measure an ounce.. ... ????
The original Trader Vic’s Mai Tai recipe has simple syrup and orgeat syrup both in it tho?
Couldn't watch the video after your "Mai tai"....im sorry but what abomination was that? And what's up with the tumbling? Cocktails are shaken or stirred to not only incorporate ingredients but to chill the drink and add dilution.

Not even remotely close.
The Trader Vic’s recipe contains exactly none of the ingredients called out here. I’m sure this drink is good, but I wouldn’t call it a Mai Tai
