- Pigs are notoriously hard to fence in, but it doesn't have to be that way. We use two strands of electric to fence in our backyard pigs, and it's worked well for us.

The Mindful Homestead is a small farm in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. We raise Forest Pastured Pork, Pastured Poultry and Fresh Eggs. Our aim is to grow as much of our own food as we can, while supplying quality farm products to others as well.
Seeing how great you are with your animals has inspired me to buy my meat from a small farm. I 💯 want to support this type of farming. I was feeling really down and sad thinking my meat is coming from factory farming to the point that I was questioning if it was even okay to eat meat. I love animals and want them to be treated well even if they will eventually be food, a healthy happy animal will be healthier for us also. Thank you so much for being an inspiration and showing that there is a way to get meat without supporting factory farming 🙏
Thinking really hard about pigs right now - I have four goats in milk.I didn't know they eat ferns. Good to know as I have lots and one of my current livestock will touch it. As for putting tools down, I got a roll of blaze orange duct tape to wrap around things like the t-post pounder (and hay hook) that get put down frequently. Easier to spot, and a good reminder to pick it up and put it away!
Thank you for the video
You're welcome
Oh man first day on pasture feels! A great day!
Great job, I miss not being able to have pigs any more , I m on a acre need to be on over 5 acre in Canada to raise pigs,
They are my favorite animal on the farm bar none.
I greatly appreciate all of your videos. They help me out a lot. While setting up my chicken coop I watched all those videos and I just got 2 pigs The other day. Your videos almost always have the information and answers I’m looking for. So thank you for all your content!
I love hearing that. If there's anything specific you want a video on, don't hesitate to tell me!
Just wanted to say thank you, you always explain why and how you do things. For a novice it is greatly appreciated 😊😊😊😊😊😊
You are so welcome! I'm glad to hear they help you!
Great info! Thanks for sharing your knowledge... i really appreciate it ... people like you are the ones that hold out hope for mankind and our mother earth 🙏
I appreciate that, but it's gonna take a lot more of me to really change the course!
@TheMindfulHomestead I'm in and doing my part ... haven't started with pigs yet. But planning on it soon. Already have ducks, chickens and rabbits. And building small coops that are affordable and easy to transport...
Man thanks! The insulators... I've had soooo. Much trouble with those I've got most of my fence down. And was fixin to totally redo and put time into making my own... but I'll try your way first ... will save me a bunch of work! Thanks 🤞
Yea, the non-locking insulators are terrible. I've had much better luck since switching to the polytape insulators.
great vlog as always Jack
Thanks Chris!
Noice setup! 😎 STOC
Thanks! 👍

How do you keep out predators at night or do you put them back in pen?
We don’t worry about predators with the pigs except for black bears in the spring.
@@TheMindfulHomestead coyotes won't get them?
@@Michael-lt6rc Coyotes don’t mess with pigs as far as we’ve seen. And we have them on camera less than 10 yards from the pig fence.
@TheMindfulHomestead okay thank you for your help!
What model Solar Charger is that?
The one we have is a .15 Joule solar charger from American Farmworks. The one I have linked is a slightly better one though, and what I would go with if I were to buy again.
