For ticks..Eat lots of pickeled Garlic..and for Chiggers ..Rub a cloth with a mix of Bleach and Vingar on you legs ..before you go out to woods ..mix is 1 tsp to 3cups of vingar.. You can spray on or rub on with cloth ..Hope this helps with your outtings an Adventures to your woods .
I am like you Sarah. I seem to attract all the bad ticks. I have had Lymes Disease twice. My husband and I use a Sawyer product on our hunting clothes and our hiking clothes. It last up to 5 washes and I have gotten any on me since using it. So glad to guys are aware of the tick issue. Lymes is not fun. Good luck, love watching you guys. You inspire me everyday
It only takes one itty bitty deer tick to ruin your life. Ask me how I know. Fels Naptha soap helps repel them too and as a bonus it will kill the spores from poison ivy. It could be that the ticks like Sarah best because she's sweeter - by sweeter I mean she might have B+ blood type. Little bugs love it. I'm enjoying your channel every day. Thanks so much.
Hey Kevin, I've used those white fiberglass posts for probably close to twenty years. I found that paint in them with a coat of paint (whatever is leftover from other projects) will save on getting fiberglass splinters on your skin and keep them from getting brittle with age. As for the ticks I'm like you they may get on me but I don't find any attached and if I walk in tall grass or sometimes even mowing and the wind blowing it back on me I will get chiggers. Hope you all stay safe. We finally had a night without thunderstorms and rain. Supposed to have a chance of rain tonight but not heavy and clear Saturday and Sunday. They are saying that we won't have flooding as long as "93, was till late July, so it hopefully will get gone before Memorial Day. My cousin in Louisiana said they were diverting water out of the Mississippi down there to the Red River to keep New Orleans out of trouble. They get all the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers from south of St. Louis down. Larry
GOOD MORNING.. Y'ALL NEED TO GET A HUGE FLOCK OF GUINEAS.. THEY LOVE TICKS.. YOU CAN PUT THE OUT WITH YOUR HOGS. LET THEM FREE RANGE.. THEY MEAN BUT EXCELLENT PROTECTORS OF YOUR FARM.. PRAYERS🙏 FOR THIS WEATHER⚡☔ NOT TO LAST ALL SPRING.. GOD BLESS☝👼 I so enjoy Your channel🇺🇸😊
I use permethrin concentrate for ticks and chiggers. It's a synthesized compound from a orchid. I wash all my clothes in it and it bonds to the clothes for about 10 washes. I get it at the local farm store. I haven't had a single tick since I started using it. The key is layering the treated clothing so there is overlap.
@@karengradzki3808 I bought this product and dilute it. Bad stuff when in liquid form, so follow precautions recommended by the manufacturer, it is fine when it dried. I've been mixing 1 teaspoon of 10% to 4 cups of water, not sure if that is the best, but it has been working for us.
I know skin so soft really doesn't smell great but it works. I've never had a tick and the one time that I didn't put any skin so soft on I got chiggers.
Pray you stay safe. Good video again. Excited to see the little pigs. My last name is "Ham" thought you would get a little laugh. Laughter is good for the soul..🐷🐷
I heard what you did for Zach Bauer and I think that is a fantastic thing you guys did, what a blessing. You are great neighbors, thank you. We have a lot of ticks in our area too and I have found that Dr. Bonners peppermint soap works the best. It will kill the ticks on your body. God Bless you both.
So I saw this on a Nurse post I'm on... If you get a tick on you, take a liquid soap soaked cotton ball on it and the tick will come off. I heard it works, give it a try and see what happens!
Looking forward to seeing the new pigs. They're so interesting to watch! What would be helpful at this stage would be to see an overhead 'map' of sorts to see how your property is laid out...for example: where the cow paddock will be; where the pigs will be; where the goats and gardens are located. It would be interesting to be able to imagine where things are on the property as you go about your daily chores. I have no sense of direction :) so something like this would be helpful and interesting!
It is amazing that just two wires of electric fence can keep in those piggies! I did that with goats and my does would rather get zapped by the fence wire than get bread by the buck.
You need to invest in Permethrin, you wash it into your clothes and it last for weeks, it is a chemical but it is far far less toxic then normal deet. Permethrin os what most hunting clothes are pre treated with.
New subscriber, love your videos. Thanks for the tips, we just got our first pigs a few months ago and now its time to move them to the woodline. Love this video and it was very helpful.
Enjoyed the video, we do permanent fencing for pigs however my cows are in temp wire in certain paddocks, I really glad I saw you splice! Ha it makes me feel good that other people do that as well! Thanks for the video!!
How are the bees doing? Can’t wait to see the baby pigs! Also can’t wait to see the finished herb garden and the summer garden as it grows. I’ve gotten some things planted but it’s just been too wet here to get as much done as I want/need to. I too live in Missouri and we’re in the same boat....almost literally with all the rainfall. Keep the videos coming and stay safe!
Can’t wait for the 🐖 to arrive. Hey have you tried consuming sulfur powder. We used to use that when I was in the military and it worked wonders. What happens is ; you sweat out the sulfur and chiggers and ticks don’t want anything to do with you .
Okay so ticks and ? We do have ticks here in fact because we now have a ban on spraying here in Ontario Canada the tick population has soared. We are always advised to tuck our pant leg bottoms in socks. Wear long sleeves and light coloured clothing. We also have our lovely mosquito season coming up. I actually spray my clothing before putting it on even socks and hats and try to avoid direct contact with skin. Not sure for ticks that is reasonable but for mosquitoes it works. So beautiful there. Have a great day🇨🇦💝💐
This is brilliant - so easy to follow, and it saved me duplicating a HUGE job with star pickets and corrugated iron that I did last week... the second pen will be a cinch, and will potentially help me to train my 2 rescue piggies so that they can eventually help me digging up areas I want them to. Thanks again!
The no-seeums are ridiculous here in WV right now too. I might get a head net. Yay pigs! We have AGHs, not my 1st choice but they were "free", love raising pigs.
I’ll have to get some of that spray I have a granddaughter that if there’s a tick around they’ll go for her I had her help me in the garden once and I looked up to see how she was doing I had none and she must’ve had a dozen or more on her needless to say I haven’t let her near the garden since and she loves to garden so if it worked that well for Sarah I’ll have to get some thanks for sharing
Great info guys. Very SW Mo. corner here. Have been thinking about pigs for awhile now. I think I'm going to pull the trigger after your vid. Hog panels aren't cheap. Ticks not so much but I'm a chigger magnet. I use Repel which contains 40% deet. Works pretty well. Keep up the great work. I'm interested to see how you train them to the fence.
Rewatching some of your older videos, this one came in handy as we are getting a couple guinea / mule foot cross piglets! Hope the summer is going well! We will come see ya next year at the farmers market !
I'm hoping to get pigs this year. We have a so called pet pig it was a gift to my oldest daughter it was supposed to be a potbelly pig but it's American guinea hog 3 years old now I do like the ideal of a wire fence for the pigs
Love your videos! I live in southern IL, but I come to Missouri Ozarks to camp and float around Annapolis and Lesterville it is beautiful up in the Ozarks! Thank you for sharing!
Looking forward to watch the process of pig raising. I enjoy your videos. I don't have a lots of ticks here in central Tx to my knowledge. But also don't have a lot of forest area here either. Have great day and God Bless!
I use permethrin, I order the 37% stuff off of Amazon and mix my own. It's safe to use around livestock. I use it in my chicken coop too. Use the leftover mix and spray your crawl space, Foundation, and thresholds of your house and it does a great job at keeping pest out.
Hope you didn't get any damage from the storm. Have you ever pyrethrum from chrysanthemum ? Or making your own? Some people do fine with it but some can have a reaction. I have also used Tea tree oil and peppermint oil mixed in water and a bit of vinegar to keep pest away. Or sometimes I mix it with some coconut or olive oil. Bugs love me too. If they bother your skin you can also spray on your clothes. If the bug spray stops working you could try some of these.
what about a small nursery area for the pigs made of the hog panels inside the electric fence you have set up already around the hog shelter you already have set up in the paddock - just thinking after last years pig moving "incident" that it might save time in the long run - you then would just have to undo a hog panel and let them out and they would be settled into that area
Avon skin so soft products repel midges. A friend went to work on a logging operation in Scotland and all the big burly Scots swore by it. You get a lot of midges up there!
Have you tried dryer sheetz stuffed in your socks and rubbed on your skin? I e done that and haven't had tick or gnat problems when working in the yard.
Watching you get you pig pen ready makes me think of my daughter's pet. Kermit is a black pot bellied piglet and she has him spoiled rotten. He is mean too. Likes to snap at our toes. He came from Missouri. Lol I wonder if that is a thing with Missouri pot belly pigs.
Ticks as other blood sucking bugs go after preferred blood types. As a land surveyor (plenty of tick experience) their are plenty of steps that can be taken in a more natural way if wanted. I hate bug sprays, the chemicals heat my body up to much when I am already hot natured. Look up what the aborigines did with Tea tree oils, also high garlic intake will deter ticks. Anythign to alter the smell and taste of your blood.
This video really sparked my interested in fencing pigs, it was shocking how easy it was to install
My mother-in-law was a tick magnet. We and our 4 kids camped for a week and never got a tick. She visited one day and she got a tick on her.

We hitting ready for pigs y'all are so informative thank you an have a blessed day.

I use geranium oil with water mixture and spray it on us. The ticks don't like the geranium oil. We're the opposite, the ticks love my husband!
good to know!
I use permethrin concentrate for ticks and chiggers. It's a synthesized compound from a orchid. I wash all my clothes in it and it bonds to the clothes for about 10 washes. We use clothing treated in the same way, extremely effective!
The best I have found! I spent 15+ years in some tuff tick country,, a timber cutter told me about it.
Is there a particular brand of the permethrin that you recommend?

Kevin prep's for pigs with such gusto, they really are his favorite homestead animal.
I know skin so soft really doesn't smell great but it works. I've never had a tick and the one time that I didn't put any skin so soft on I got chiggers.
Be safe in the storms.
Good Morning Kevin and Sarah!
Sarah, if you are 0- that may be why the ticks are targeting you. Mosquitoes love 0 type blood too. It's sweeter tasting to them.
Hint for removing crawling ticks is to use a lint roller, the sticky type.
Great work good video God bless
Lol. If y’all notice me and my wife use the same account
Thank you. Very helpful.
Sara, the ticks love you because you are so sweet.
Be safe as weather storm ⛈ rolling by 🙏🙏Gosh those Ticks are bad
Pray you stay safe. Good video again. Excited to see the little pigs. My last name is "Ham" thought you would get a little laugh. Laughter is good for the soul..🐷🐷
my last name is eggs
See you work in the trees gives me hope for my property. It’s basically all trees and I’ve been worried about being able to graze. Thanks for sharing!

Piglets...love them. Missouri is bug heaven, I don't miss that part.
Enjoyed watching your video as always. Stay safe, praying God's protection for your family and homestead from the weather.

Very interesting video! Can't wait til you get your pigs.
Stay safe. Really don't like ticks. Have a nice day.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EACH AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YA'LLS VIDEOS!!!! NEVER BORING!!!! THANK U FOR ALL UR DEDICATION IN UR VIDEOS! GREAT JOB GUYS!
that's amazing I am glad you were able to fine a repellent that works
Thanks you guys coffee in the woods this morning, God Bless.

My favorite weather in Missouri is tick/chigger free weather! 🤣

Thanks Kevin and Sarah for taking us along with you! Be safe and God bless!😀💕💕👍

New subscriber, love your videos. Thanks for the tips, we just got our first pigs a few months ago and now its time to move them to the woodline. Love this video and it was very helpful.

Very exciting ! Loved watching the pig videos, and it’s great you guys have 2 families to raise for! Such a smart way to earn money on the homestead!

I agree with the body chemistry idea. My husband doesn't get many ticks either but they will jump out of trees to get me.😀
spray your clothes and cover all your body when go out in the garden/woods. They love naked skin
Hope sunny days are on the way for you folks! Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for sharing Sarah and Kevin hope the weather doesn't get to bad please stay safe god bless .

A spray ban, good for Canada!
you may want to try guinea hens they love ticks. once you get a flock going they do great free range.
Thanks for taking us along! Have a great weekend! Stay safe!💕
Good morning Kevin and Sarah, Pigs are my most favorite also. We got three two weeks ago in northern Ohio. Enjoying the little ones so much already.
I really like how the two of you work together. 🙂

Good job you've come a long way pilgrim eat more garlic keeps ticks away
❤️ yr shirt! Might have to order one
You have May Apples on your property that is where Merrill mushrooms usually grow under them...
Have you tried.... Sawyer tick spray... one of the few I've found that works around Truman lake area
G'day guys, the pigs are going to love the paddock. Oh man I really dislike ticks. What are chiggers?
God bless you guys.
