I might be dumb or not engaging with the community enough, but one thing I never understood is how we came to the conclusion that the vengeful spirit, or TOYSNHK, is Cassidy.
Like, UCN specifically refers to TOYSNHK with Male pronounce, while Cassidy is repeatedly shown to be a girl.
Granted, I know Cassidy is a gender neutral name, but if the book shows her to be a girl and if the cancelled movie screenplay refers to Cassidy as being a girl - then what are the chances for Cassidy to be boy in the games?
Scott is always iffy with the gender of people, like the puppet was always referred to as he, but then ended up being a girl, I think we came to the conclusion that when Scott used pronouns it’s probably not to be paid attention to, like golden Freddy has a girly laugh, and when casting for the vengeful spirit, Scott didn’t specify girl or boy it can be ambiguous.
Also the golden Freddy kid in the film liked a comment that asked if he was Cassidy.
I also think in the books, she’s a girl because Michael Brooks is the golden Freddy kid instead for plot reasons, to make it personal.
But it’s Scott we never know with him 😂 it was also theorised that when they were saying HE they were referring to Golden Freddy the character itself.
Maybe the reason why she’s a girl in the books is to prevent confusion, like Cassidy does exist in both continuities but two different characters, like in the books Cassidy possesses Bonnie instead of Golden Freddy, I think it just helps confirming that Cassidy is still one of the MCIs, they haven’t been replaced by Jeremy in the games
