This is my favourite tempo for this piece. Don't like all the quick tempo versions. There is a waking up on a cool morning feel to the piece that just makes its own sense of things. Has the essence of what Glass does better than anybody else... finding the pith of things and exploring a feeling with a key progression. Lovely performance. You should set up a couple of nice mics over the harp of the piano and have an engineer get the beefy bottom of the piano [you get to feel it while playing but it would be great to have it wash out of the speakers the way you feel it while playing] :-) Well done.

I think you're thinking of Echorus which is this tempo or slower. Philip Glass himself recorded this piece at the faster pace.
David Dight yeah Glass plays it faster with more rubato.
In my mind, this sounds like water, dripping inside a quiet cave and flowing slowly.
The small fluxes are join to form a large and turbulent torrent.
After that, loses energy until form a placid lake inside the erth.

First heard this en route to the Bluff Trail along the Pacific coast near Los Osos, CA. Due to some construction on the road, we had to stop, as it happened, in the midst of a eucalyptus forest. As the morning sun streaked through the forest, I noticed a profusion of monarch butterflies flitting among the trees. Glass's piece made it truly magical, a moment of sheer delight.

Great performance. The only thing I didn't like was the ONE TIME it went to a picture of the birds flying. I really enjoyed watching your hands.

Even though it might be a little bit "repetitive" I find it quite relaxing and I kind of dig the minimalistic approach that Philip Glass offers us in his music. Great performance btw
+TheMathDieu A little bit?) It's extremely repetitive music. But somehow the more I play, the more I like it. Glass is addictive.
It's very interesting because it's not repetitive in a sense that it becomes gradually dull. It's repetitive but still feels very engaging to hear, and that's what I like about this composition
Etude's purpose is to help the student drill and learn a particular technique. As a result, they tend to be repetitive. Some composers, such as Liszt and Chopin, wrote etudes of such complexity and beauty that they are performed in concerts.

So beautiful. Reminds me of Beethoven's Sonata Quasi una Fantasia, except for all tempo and key changes. I can't go easily from triplets to whatever Glass does, but it is so beautiful.

This piece reminds me of the movies "her" and "all the bright places" for some reason this piece makes me feel a bit lonely, I just imagine myself in a island lost just the sun hitting my face, where I am peaceful and happy, this piece is truly beautiful

the beginning melody is kind of similar to Night Lovell's Off Air. It's Rap genre btw
I suggested to derision that GLASS's music would be great for samples or music beds for rap or hip hop music. What's called classical will die before me with that attitude.
The BOWIE symphonies will receive deserved attention well into the current century. A HIP HOP opera by GLASS or another composer might be greeted similarly.

I loved this piece of music by Glass until you pointed this out. But thanks for doing so - I've now had a listen to Skorik's partita (written in 1975), it's too close for comfort and I am disappointed.
Not bad . Glass himself plays it with a bit more rubato.
