Tears come to my eyes when I hear this, every song. In 1978 when I was 15 years old the mothership landed in my hometown. As a German, I didn't understand words, but today I understood everything. I thank God that He sent this group to this planet in my time and I wish that their music accompanies me to death and beyond forever and ever. Thank you God, thank you Parliament Funkadelic. The name contains my first name. My mane is Arlia, yeah. i love you all
Ditto brother.

THE BEST FUNK GROUP IN THE HISTORY OF FUNK NOBODY COMES CLOSE
Never will forget that concert I seen in Oakland, CA when P-Funk landed the Mothership, it was phenomenal!! What an experience.
Prince and his New Power cohort are neck and neck in the funk stakes for me.
@@leethomas7659 Your kidding right! Prince not even close to this . Ohio players , were a force to be reckoned and certainly close second but Funkadelic and Parliament were on another level . Prince went far too commercial after his album Dirty Mind . Great musician though .
@@bensonbright bro, all you’ve just done is demonstrate your lack of musical knowledge..
And....the best Rock group in the history of "Rock"
This was the first concert I attended. P-Funk Earth Tour at the Capitol Center in Landover Md. One of the best shows I've ever seen. The musicians in the band just straight killed it from the time they hit the stage. Cosmic Slop was the first jam and it never slowed down after that!
I saw them land the Mothership at RFK Stadium 1978 RIP Eddie Hazel 🥲
Duval county, 1976, Jacksonville Colosseum. I cut grass to buy my ticket!!!!! For ever funkin' on baby!!
quelle musique envoutante pleine de bonheur de joie et des pros sans pareils
man this bring back some fun times, I seen them in the late 70s at Capital Center Landover, Maryland.
I know what you mean. I grew up in Palmer Park and went to Duval High. When the Funk Mob came to town everybody in CC wanted to go.
Gary Shider, Glenn Goins, Michael Hampton, Eddie Hazel Funkadelic axes
Legends all
You could start a religion off that Cosmic Slop groove.
To set the record straight this is taken from the "George Clinton Presents Parliament, Funkadelic - Mothership Connection Newberg Session" CD with the addition of Cosmic Slop added from Hardcore Jollies which was also taken from the Newberg rehearsals. It came out in 1995 in Japan only but there are counterfeits of it. It is from 1976.
thought so
Light Years In Time Ahead Of Their Time! 🥁🎸🎺🪇🎹
This Funk Band Can Play Rock 🤘🏾
yessir!
10:45 swing down sweet chariot. Glenn Goins calling down the mothership.
This is really good music, good cool
& funky heavy psyche vibe ❤
Maan…I can’t get enough of Do That Stuff! I’ve been trying the past 40 years and counting. Do that stuff just do that stuff!
You can tell these are early times ---> The MOTHERSHIP lands at the beginning of the show.
Later, they realised this was a mistake and built up some stanky funky atmosphere before The MOTHERSHIP landed.
Saw them plusieurs fois et hung with them on seververal occasions.
Totally outstanding and unique band.
IF ANYBODY GETS FUNKED UP ---> IT'S GONNA BE WE 🤘🏾
Thank You for improving my interplanetary funkmenship.
You are NOW a full fledged member of the Midnight Funk Acociation
RIP Eddie Hazel the sound of FUNKADELIC 🥲
Eddie Hazel is my number 1 favorite guitarist of all time, but Eddie's not playing in this one. It's Michael Hampton, Glenn Goins, and Garry Shider on guitars.
Mama what's a Funkadelic got me on the Funk. P Funk the greatest Funk band ever. One Nation under a groove my national anthem. Funk on
Comin round the mountain 1976 not 78. This had to be 76 because fuzzy Grady and Calvin were gone by late 76 and Glen and Jerome left late 77 before Glen died...facts!
This was rehearsal for The Mothership Connection tour, right? Glen Goins was out of the band by 77, farreal?
Actually Glen left BEFORE Jerome did. Jerome left sometime in April of 1978. He is still in the band in the early part of 1978 as proven in the Houston and Landover videos. - Jaypfunk
Yeah Jerome did the early part of the flashlight tour.
@@mileqjameel8166
check out Glen & bro’s “Quazar” album (1978) if you haven’t.
Especially ‘Shades of Quazar’’…
jazzadelicfunk👌
I seen the mother ship land at the Richmond Coliseum
It really doesn’t get better than this!
This is the real thump n pop , pluckin straight from the gutter FUNK; not that messed up mess called slap and slappin mess of now, Thanks for keeping the Real Thumpin n Poppin gutter Funk Alive
How have I never heard this before - It's like listening to 1976 Houston but super clear!
Exactly what I said why all groups do they best shows in Houston but this is so much clearer sounding
I like this way better than the live show! ...........More loose and natural! Thank y'all!!
It was more than a show to see but to see & feel this in 1976..it was truly experiencing a movement that stayed with me till this day. All these sharp musicians in the highest prime was killer in Chgo 76 opening up a funky summer in June,
I saw the mother ship land in Chicago at soldiers field in 1978,my dad got me and my cousin tickets as a graduation present from high school I was 18 and had my mind blown, an unforgettable experience indeed,as a guitarist & Bassist I still to this day get my chops together playing along to the P funk catalog. Thank you Mr Ciinton,Mr Collins and most especially Mr Worrell and the rest of the funkateers.
I was about 10 when I first heard this song. The music just drove me nuts. The lyrics didn't really hit me till years later. The musicianship in this song is just amazing. When I saw them in concert in The Cap Center in D.C they opened up with this song, it was so powerful. Even now its still hits me the same way.
Oh!!!! I was at the Mothership Connection Louisville Gardens 1978 with my trumpet white suit no shirt with some chocolate Mescaline (Peyote) I am glad you posted this clean version were you hear the instruments fist time I herd the rehearsal it brings back memories we were high about a week after the show. thanks for the upload.
I am floored !! I was born and raised in Newburgh NY and I had no idea Parliament ever performed there.
It was a rehearsal..
I grew up in New windsor and Kiss and a few other big bands would use a big hangar at Stewart Airport for rehearsals
I love how the bass was all chill, but the guitar was going freaky high pitched out of control.
Damn, this still sounds so good🤘🏾🤘🏾🎵🎶
This is an incredible recordong and will always be how I know and remember my favorite music group of all time, George Clinton and The Parlament-Funkadelic. I have had P-Funk-4-Life since I was a child.
1976 Funkadelic Parliament played at the Richfield coliseum in Cleveland Ohio, November 1976 if you were their theirs no way you wasn't on your feet all night doing the loose booty.
I was there
The recording quality is surprisingly good, thanks for uploading!
wonderful flash back - love you so much
Rehearsal No Body in the Building but them, Big Foot Jerome was pushing 'em

every version of glenn found calling the mothership is done differently
The P-FUNK/"FUNK MOB" just what this "Third Stone from the Sun" needed.
Sou de 1967 em76 com 9 anos de idade já sonhava alto com som hoje em dia o mundo sem graça demais ❤
I Cried!
Being in jr high school in 76..my mother brought this album home and it was that🤨
Mothership Connection Newberg Session is a live album by George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic. It was recorded in Hangar E at Stewart Airfield in Newburgh, New York, on September 26, 1976, during the rehearsals for the P-Funk Earth Tour. The live album was released by P-Vine Records in Japan on December 25, 1995.
I’m speechless!! Glen answer the rest or PFunk!!😊
🙏🏼4 sharing 🙂
Cant help but think that still picture on this video is Gary dressed up as George. I know for sure I saw a show in Santa Monica in the early 80's when George was supposed to have retired from touring. Even though he was dress up like Dr. Funkenstein, I thought something was "off" about him. Then I realized that Gary wasn't anywhere to be seen playing guitar. I'm certain it was Gary. He didn't move like George.
Addendum -- George has always had a goatee and a slight beard. This guy is clean shaven . That ain't George.
It is Garry dressed up as George lol
I saw them at the Beverly Hills Theater in 1983.
that doesn't even look like George..
George and Garry were known for switching off vocals during some shows.
sometimes Garry would sing some of George's vocals.
@@jimy0803 : Yeah, even on some records It was difficult to tell George from Garry. It was amazing how close their voices were.
Dats some good stuff !! Ahhh yeah !!
Parliament was like James Brown on acid
Look up
Tales From The Tour bus - James Brown Orange Sunshine 😂😅
They are legends! Their music also helped to build rap.
Fantasy is Reality
Enjoy
That Dr. Funkenstein though!!!
This is my jawn with video
I just wanna hang out with these guys
Garry Shider for ever
Parliament funkadelic and my area of indictment are you in a good mood
Keep up the funk -GC
MAN!!!!!!!!!
FUNK ON
OMG OMG OMG!
Funk music in my family is the same one 😭😭😭 and it will be in a lot of work to do
@14:50 "kiss me on my ego..."😎
Unbelievable
Fuckin bass is a Rick 4005. Too funny.
Cosmic slop, Michael Hampton on lead!
aka "Kidd Funkadelic".
I'm the same way the funk is always with me.dr funkenstein is my dad
Who says a funk band can't play rock? Was that Geoge playing drums?
Nope. All drums done by Mr Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey
George doesn't play any instruments.
Where do you think Rock came from?
Who played bass in 1976 lineup?
My man Cordell "Boogie" Mosson.
Boogie
I tell you Bootsy played most of the show Chgo 6/76. Him, Glen, Bernie & Jerome just beat up on your mind thruout that set
@lamontarnold1612 "Boogie" Mosson was doing the bulk of the bass-playing by then, .as he did for Funkadelic anyway. by 1976, Bootsy was concentrating and establishing Bootsy's Rubber Band. their debut album dropped in '76.
Where exactly did Pfunk rehearse in Newburg?
It's an airplane hanger that many bands used back in the 70s to rehearse for big tours. - Jaypfunk
This is back when black people made _good_ music and played _actual_ instruments.
Who is that singer on Stage?
