- This unique old house was built in the late 1800’s, between 1875-1880. I couldn’t find out much history on it unfortunately other than it was built as a town house for a moderately well off farmer/carpenter. In its later years it would become a rental property and eventually ended up vacant in need of maintenance and repairs in the early 2000’s. Neat old house glad I could document it. Thanks for watching. Like and leave a comment if you enjoyed. Thank you.

This house 🏡 needs to be rescued before vandals come in to trash this nice house 🏡. Needs a big family to move in and take care of it.
Cool. My grandmother lived in a house like this in Tappahannock,VA. It’s still standing and was sold. This one is beautiful too.
@@pepaq2470 how cool! Glad it’s still around! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
First house could be saved. Many beautiful features.
@@janedee6488 agreed! Thank you for watching! :)
House in fairly good condition due to roof holding up. Someone needs to buy this house.
How lovely this house must have been!🐩🐾
@@deboralintner6223 much appreciated for watching!! :)
I so love the first house. Would get it in a heartbeat if it was for sale. Second one is so sad. Thanks again for showing us these lost beauties.
It could be for sale by the county?
I love the first house, it felt really cozy. It's a beautiful place. Ty Kappy so much 4 taking us on ur adventures. U do a great job. Plz b safe out there.
@@NativeNYer really appreciate the kind words! Thank you for watching!! :)
Choice of recent paint colors is beautiful.
Sad it may be, but saveable ?? It could be !!! It's a beautiful period home. We see so many of these older beauties with much damage. Believe it or not, some of the discarded toys upstairs are worth a lot of money. This one hits it out of the park !!!
The first was really appealing from the outside (symmetrical). Beautiful inside too. The second was beautiful in it's own way. They all are. Thanks for taking us along.
@@heartinca8827 Thank you very much for the kind words and watching!! :)
The added toilet and sink in the downstairs room were probably added for an infirmed resident for in room care.
That was my thinking as well. Especially since it looks like the toilet paper holder is out of reach for someone sitting on it.
@@christianlutes5593 That’s a good thought! I’d bet you are right! It was a strange placement! Thank you for watching!! :)
Beautiful old house. Love the main fireplace with red brick and white frame downstairs -- but all the fireplaces are charming. The woodwork is stunning, still. Oh, how I wish I was able to restore this Victorian gem to its glory days. Ah, but thank you for giving us a glimpse of what remains. Always such a bittersweet melancholy feeling ...after viewing all these places of yesterday. Reminds us to savor and cherish what we have today. 🌹
It's always sad to me to see these once beautiful houses die. I think of the young children once playing in the yards.
I'm going to guess the bathroom fixtures out in the open downstairs were for a senior relative with limited mobility. A reasonable alternative to a care facility. That house is definitely salvageable.
What a cool 1st house. Everything about it makes me wish i lived in there. You can't compare this house to the boring stuff built today. It is so pleasing to the eye. You're spot on Kappy. it's beautiful.
@@brianandlindafairchild1237 Really appreciate the kind words! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
Bicycle room: orb travels from the left up towards the ceiling, I can see why someone would not want to leave this beauty. Love the cool little windows throughout. Wish someone would bring it back to glory❤
If I know where it is, I might buy the 1st house. How do we find out where/what county?
Thank you Kappy! I loved that antique cast iron double sink in the 1st house! And the staircase was gorgeous.
Many cool things about the first house . I wonder what architectural features are under that siding on the outside since the peaks are still original . The previous owners were definitely into colorful walls. It was like stepping into the 70's with the olive green carpet on the stairs and the peel and stick mirror tiles.
Enjoying the revisits! Love that kitchen sink in first. Crazy how one room can be in great shape and the next a disaster. Thanks for sharing. ❤
@@susanmiller4159 true! It is incredible how these places fall apart! Thank you for watching!!! :)

Another stellar video. The house obviously pre-dates indoor plumbing, which is why the strange placement of the bathroom at 5:36. It was likely a bedroom or parlor before indoor plumbing was added. My grandmother lived in an old house where a bedroom was converted into a bathroom at the turn of the last century. Great piece of captured history, Kappy. Keep up the great work.
@@BeemWeeks good point! I’m sure it was just outhouse for this place originally! Thank you for watching!! :)
Wish you could have found way into attic. Sometimes it is old treasure up there. Great job kappy!
@@seethrucrew4092 me too! Attics are always some of the least updated parts as well! Cool to see old bones of the house and construction techniques! Thanks for watching!

Wow. The 1st house didn't seem to need that much work to put it back to livable. The 2nd house was sad. Really bad shape. You were making me gasp in there. I was so afraid you were going to go through the floor! Great work Mr Kappy! Thanks for taking me along! 😊
@@tammybaker6635 thank you for the concern!! Yeah that second house was a bit sketchy to walk around inside! Thank you for the kind words and watching!! :)
The first houseneeded some work on the kitchen, but otherwise was really nice. The fireplaces were great and i really liked the windows. Too bad all the floors in the second house were .....the way they were. Thanks, Kappy
Beautiful old houses

Maybe at some point those fireplaces could be removed and restored. Would be nice if they got new homes!
What s great Victorian! I sure hope it knew a lot of happiness in its heyday. If it's just going to be left to ruin, l wish someone would save the archtectural features, so they could be used to restore another old home back to glory. With the owners permission, of course. The paint colors were...interesting. 😅 Thanks, Kappy!
Classic mirror over the mantle 🤗
House sure were built to last a long time and through anything. Be careful... yike. Stay safe Kappy.

It's a shame that no relatives didn't do nothing on cleaning these homes out and just to let them rot with no interest on repairing these, in which they probably could of been on the national historic list. But due to the cost, they think it wouldn't be worth it. I seen worse homes on This old house were they went in and totally remolded which probably cost over a million dollars. Someone needs to restore these before it's to late.
The first house looks to me like a Sears house #118. I have the same style house as this. Love it
Invest some money in this place and it will be around another 200+ years. I'm betting the room with the toilet was also someone's bedroom. I honestly don't understand why this place was abandoned. Yeah, it needs a new roof and updating, but most old houses do.
@@nadinemasteller1089 agreed! If you put a metal roof on that house will easily be around another 50 some years! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
The first house is an old Victorian, with an attic. Looks like it had a widows walk on the roof at one time.
In the first house, the attic stairs might have been behind the closed door in the room with the drop ceiling.
KAPPY ,, VERY SAD,, I CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE FOR GET ABOUT THESE GREAT OLD HOUSES AND LET THEM GO TO HELL ,, IF THESE HOMES COULD TELL THE FUTURE OF KIDS RUNNING AROUND AND WATCHING TV HAVING FRIENDS OVER AND BIRTHDAYS AND X-MAS DAYS ,,LOOKS LIKE SOME PEOPLE LOVED THIS HOUSE AT ONE TIME THE PAINT COLORS IN THE ROOMS FIT THE OLD DAYS ... LOOKS LIKE IT HAD A WIDOW'S WATCH AT ONE TIME BUT THEY TOOK IT OUT??? A VIEW OF THE HOUSE AT THE BEGINNING 0:18 THX.
The baby crib❤
Second house, looks like it was caught up in some kind of destructive storm.
Wow, no grafitti, it's a fixer upper
It’s really too bad that the restoration costs, taxes, maintenance, insurance, and heating/cooling cost of taking on fixing and living in a large old home like that has moved out of most people’s reality. In the end, properties like this will suffer and be destroyed! Many, many families would love to live there but are priced out of it! A shame!
Such beautiful homes but today our culture no longer care for home with character. I have always loved homes built doing the 19th century.
I would definitely love to restore this home
Nice I would love to have seen these a few years ago.
It's a shame that the roof is so bad because it's affecting the flooring as well along with the integrity of the whole house structure wise.
The plug on the heater just looks like it is for that fan
Look at all the curtains still standing proud in the second house.
@@MeMyselfAndUs903 always interesting to see especially with all of the floors collapsing! Thank you for watching!! :)
Two examples
Example One, definitely could be saved.
Example Two, best used for parts.
Pity that such history is allowed to degrade. Contents aside, the history of construction, rebuilds, updates, etc. tells the real story.
Details and artistry in original construction and finishing echo an era where workmanship was more important than now, not to mention quality. How many new constructions would withstand multiple decades of neglect and remain as intact as the Victorian?
Grandma and Grandpa have left the building. They will not return.
Sup from Kentucky❤

9:00 I wonder if they got those giant produce photos from a grocery store that went out of business.
But there’s a lot of strange installments in this house. Reminds me of AI generated weirdness.
