Reminds me of those balmy summer nights in the UK, 1984, when Tim Westwood would play this on LWR and also had on Electro Street Sounds on cassette. I was 14 back then, now I'm 54 and this tune still does it for me.
Best ever SAXOPHONE ending to ANY record, let alone a break or hip hop record , an absolutely fantastic saxophone ending, as good today as it was when I first heard it, when it came out over 30 years ago.
This group was headed by PE Bomb Squad producer Keith Shocklee, who was then using the name "Wizard K-Jee" and made a lot of noise in the Queens and Long Island area. This was recorded just before Public Enemy took off, and. as they say, the rest is history! Production is by Charles Casseus, brother of actor Gabriel Casseus ("NJ Drive", "Get On The Bus") and writer of the movie "Takers." Roosevelt. LI proved to be full of talent, spawning PE, Dr J, Eddie Murphy, Aaron Hall and so much more!
I always wonder if it is Chuck D on the mic during the brief rap on here. they had another 12" too called Jazz UP and Hip Hop on Next Plateau Records a few months later in 84
What a trip down memory lane.....electro 4,still got it on tape..lol...timeless classic.......i so wish i could go back in time and enjoy those years once more
I was there too! I tell my kids I was into rap / electro, break dancing and graffiti art back in the day and they just laugh at me like I'm some old codger. I tell 'em there's no school like the old school LOL
@port2344chester I definitely remember these times. I am from NYC and these were true songs of the 80's. Breakin. Breakin 2 electric boogaloo, Wild Style, Krush Groove, and the all time favorite BEAT STREET. Yeah, I wish we had those times again. I only relive it through old cassettes and VHS movies.
This has put a big smile on my boat!Has every ting sax, drum machine,D train vocals etc etc etc.Its what you tube was made for, seeking out old friends and seing...they still rock!
I'm fifty next year and these tunes of this era are still the fucking bomb! Electro series the first ever mixed albums in my opinion. They are so ahead of their time. Remember electro is aural sex!
I GAVE A OLD SCHOOL PARTY AND PUT THIS HIT ON WITH SIDE 1 AND SIDE 2 THERE WAS NO BODY STANDING TALKING ABOUT 500 PEOPLE ON THE DANCE FLOOR FROM AGE 21 TO AGE 60 AND I SAY THAT WITH AN UNDERSTATEMENT THE FLOOR WAS PACKED I CROSS FADED SIDE 1 WITH SIDE 2 AND THE CROWD WENT WILD THEN I CUT IN CD 111 "GET TOUGH" AND THE CROWD WENT MORE WILD
i was 16 too when this came out and have to agree that 84 was probably the best year for electro in my opinion....this was on streetsounds electro 4 if i remember correctly....class tune!!......would do anything to go back in time!!
@@terencebuie2158 The early 80s was so great for this music. I wish I had collected more but there was so much of it. I would just listen to WRBB & WERS (Boston college radio) and thought the good tunes would last forever!
1984 DEF the best year in my Funky opinion, it kinda peaked I think in this year. ‘86 started to go Soulless snares sounding like gunshots (maybe 1975 to 1985 the best years)?
haven't heard or thought about this song in probably 15 years and after going through an almost forgotten section of my music collection I got reacquainted with this gem. Big ol' timeless on this one, they don't make em like this anymore
OMG! I spent many a weekend blasting this from Electro 4 back in day. This meant something, when the Space Shuttle launched I was convinced it would only be a matter of weeks before the first space-break dancers would be sent up HA!
I turned 21 in August of 1984 and that month this was my favorite rap joint in LA. That year I had other favorites like “Jam on it”, “Hey DJ”, “Rock Box” and “Friends” by Whodini
life was so simple and free. miss the days every saturday breaking outside the mcdonalds restaurant in brisbane, australia. i still blast this stuff today.
Dayum!!! I remember them playing this at the Silver Shadow in Manhattan. Everybody would lose they mind and hit the dance floor with or without a dance partner; then the DJ would keep mixin' it down on two tables for at least 30 minutes. My feet would be screamin' because of the heels, but I couldn't feel a thang on this song.
God I love this song, one of my favourites off the streetsounds electro series. I remember being given a tape by a lad at school in 1984 that just said 'electro' on it, and loved it ever since!!! Cracking upload.
I remember UK-Fresh86 at Wembly arena on Sat July 19th 1986. Word of mouth & DJ-Cheese, CaptainRock, WorldClassWreckinCrew ( DrDre's 1st group well b4 NWA),Mantronix, T-LaRock LL, Plus many more. was hosted by Mike Allen, and then broadcasted on Capital Radio 95.8 6 mths later. " Whistle possee make some noiiiizzzzeeee"!
@hidproductions Thanks for the insight... happy to hear that my fellow tubers across the pond jammed this as much as the states did. Cats across the pond threw down numerous joints that turned many heads in the states as well..its universal .. again thanks for hitting me up.. Peace & 1 Love.. YOUR TUBE FRIEND Port!
i think a lot of the uk and worldwide people do not realise how house music was created the music they are into is new to them and they do not check there roots but you are spot on m8 if they understood bloc parties it could change the game
My late sister Jackie had a remix of that song on her tape since1983. I can't believe that was saxophone player Najee on it before he became famous on his own
How my shoulders start moving as soon as I hear this? lol. My wife asked me what they were singing about. I said, they are flying throughout space on a ship breakin. Dang, don't you know anything? Then I went back to doing the robot...
A magical moment in time. 1984, not a worry in the world, loads of friends, South Peckham summer vibes & everybody bumping electro on their boomboxes. Anyone got a Time Machine? 😅
I know what you mean, I used to regularly tune in to Mike Allen's Capital Radio show.I also used to go to London every other weekend with a mate where we would spend all our pocket money on 12 inch vinyl imports in the legendary "Groove Records".Great times!

WOW What memories, going out in Streatham common with our piece of dodgy lino, our boombox and my non make shell suit as my mum and dad wouldn't get me the nike or puma one. Ha Ha. Love those times.
tell you what finally did it for me..edr, 96.5,103.5 and 105.1 on the presets in my car..took the kids to the new and improved virginia key beach...on the drive, which only took 25 minutes from down south, same song was played...at the same time..by three of the four stations...twice.sick.
“I caught a ride on a spaceship through galaxies” oh yeah, it’s 1984, I’m wearing baggy trousers, smoking Benson and Hedges and carrying a stereo on my shoulder. It’s a sunny day too.

classic tune. i love the electro hip hop albums. i reckon they should all be rereleased. as the originals were, old skool never dies.
I'm dying for them to be rereleased both vinyl and cd just for the digital side of things! I know it's sacrilege but I don't want em to die ever!
This track is 30 years old and yet more danceable than most of what's out today. Thanks for posting!
