What I liked about this approach - simple and easy implementation with commonly available parts, no fabrication no welding. Downside is definitely tyre wearing out over a period.

cool and great idea, but as far as I heard 775 motor has maximum 100w power or less. So to run a bicycle you need to install at least 4 such motors to have a total power 250-350w to run a bike.

Does it damage the tire? I'm currently in the process of making one and I don't want to use up the tire on the side by using wood or metal directly on the tire
of course tire will blast in 5 days so use chain and sprocket welding to the wheel and it will increase torque

Had a feeling it might over-stress the motor. With that said, with a few extra components perhaps you could use it as a generator to power some lights on the bike? With a small battery so the lights stay on when you stop in traffic
Yes it might over stress motor but those motors are like 7-10pound on eBay...easy to replace even if it last only few days...

Very amateur!
24V 775 or 895 dc motor can easily be used on e-bikes. You should preffer low rpm and high torque. And do the speed math people. The ratio of the gear (that connects the engine to the wheel) is the most important subject.
