  • A tornado siren test in Lawrence continued to blare for more than an hour after the test was scheduled to conclude. At the same time, several people lost power.

    The siren didnt listen to the cancel command. This same thing happened in Trevor WI but the siren shut down after a 30 minute alert, when someone pulled the breaker

      That one had a stuck relay, the radio worked fine. The same thing likely happened here. Most sirens automatically shut off after 3 minutes without a cancel command.

      A T-128 in Plymouth Indiana ran for 40 minutes before burning the motor out with smoke but thankfully no fire.

    Sounds to me like nothing more than a stuck relay. When it turned on it did not know when to turn off.

      @@stephensnell1379 Simple. The relay contacts arced and welded shut. The only way to turn it off was to pull the main power. The real question is why did it take so long to pull the main power.

    I've heard reports of these kinds of sirens catching on fire after an hour. Good thing this one is fine.

      That's only with the mechanical sirens that have a motor. These sirens, like the one in the video, are just glorified speakers.

    That is a Whelen model. Some people think it’s a DSA but they are wrong. As you know they see like the Whelen Horns Shaped like a DSA. The DSA BackBox is Like a Rectangular Prism Shape. The Whelen has a curved shaped BackBox.

    tfw it didnt read the cancellation and litteraly nothing is wrong with it and that just happens sometimes and the news makes an intire video for it

      No, It's a Whelen WS-2000-104. This siren has two heads and two speaker drivers per head.

      More likely a relay in the control panel got jammed meaning the siren wouldn't have known when to shut off
