    Another great fair and honest review video Ryan, thanks. I am definitely in the market for a 3D printer and was looking at options. Your review and promotion for this launch has put me in the buyer seat, thanks. Keep the great content coming ;)

    Does it still work after two years? And is it good for beginners?

      Still use it almost everyday. Still honestly my go-to printer for almost all things. It's a good starter machine and long term machine for sure. I have only had to replace the filament run out sensors a few times and the power plug once or twice as they are cheap and run out after a while but overall a great machine.

    They seem to be upgrading on this one, as they get feedback.. I just bought one for 330$ with upgraded Metal extruder and also added "New Dual Blower Kit" to the cart on their website. Since i can see most reviewers agree that the cooling is lacking. This will be my first 3D printer, seems like you get pretty decent build volume for the money, other competitors seem to charge at least 100$ more for the same volume, and still dont give you a touch screen.

      Glad to know they are updating things as they get feedback. It's kind of one of the hard parts of doing 3D Printer reviews, they become obsolete very quickly as things improve but it still forms a base of the machine description. It's also nice to see things get updated as they see issues arise.

    Nice! What was the material cost to print the big white head?

    • @BusterBeagle3D

      Hard to say. I use Solutech white PLA filament. It’s about $20 a spool and it really didn’t use that much of it. Maybe a few dollars.

    Can you just replace the extruder stepper motor driver with the TMC2208, or is there more to it than that ? If so, would it be worth the ~$15 to do so ?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  3 года назад +1

      I think you could replace it, It would just be adding the driver to the board and replacing whatever is there. You might have to adjust the voltage on the VREF but to be honest switching out the fans for quieter ones would be what I would worry about first. You can hear the extruder but it's overpowered by the fans.

    Does the software allow use of larger diameter nozzles?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  3 года назад

      Cura does for sure. I'm not sure if the Longer slicer does as well. Since they give you the profile for Cura on the micro SD and that is what I'm used to I have been just using that instead.

    I just bought this printer. I was printing something that was going to take 16hrs to complete. But around the 6hr of printing it stopped. The screen was displaying , if i want it to continue with the printing which, i did press. It continues to print, then again it stopped around the 10hr of printing. Any ideas why this is going on guys?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  3 года назад +1

      Did it stop because of a power outage or because something in the GCode is causing the print to pause? What slicer are you using?
      I believe if it was a power outage you would only have been able to restart the print once so that may not be it.
      If you are not seeing a thermal runaway or any other errors you may have something in your code causing the print to pause. I would open your GCode in a text editor and search for M25, M0, or M600. All pause code to change filament.

      @@BusterBeagle3D , see there was no power outage. Slicer, well I'm using the software that came with it.

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  3 года назад +1

      @@melannieworld I haven't used the Longer Slicer if that is the one you are talking about. I use Cura which they did provide the machine profile for in the files on the SD card. Cura is a free program that gets lots of support from the 3D printing community. You might want to check that out and see if that improves things for you. I had some very long prints on the printer that worked fine. One was 16 hours and the second one was 41 hours.

    Why buy the LK5 over the LK1?

    • @BusterBeagle3D
      @BusterBeagle3D  3 года назад +1

      To be honest I have never tried the LK1 but just by looking at the specs......The LK5 has the TMC 2208 drivers which are chips on the motherboard that make the stepper motors quieter. It has an upgraded ceramic coated glass bed instead of a heated bed with a sticker. It has built in support braces for the z Axis to make the machine more sturdy. It also has a full color touch screen interface instead of a screen controlled by a knob. Only other thing I noticed was the electronics are in a separate box on the LK1 so it's not as compact. I'm sure it's still a nice machine but the LK5 does have upgrades. Hope this helps!

      @@jakoj2098 I don't have an ender 3 so it's hard to say. I have been pretty happy with the LK5 quality so it has been my go to printer recently. I haven't felt the need for any mods just yet but there are some that have popped up on thingiverse anyway.
