That project is gorgeous and you do make it look easy! I wonder what is most challenging for you since you have been doing this for as long as you have?
You need to use the color wheel to determine the color, then you need to mix the color. Depending on your light source - if your light source is warm, highlights will be warmer and shadows cooler. So a pure red object will have an slightly orange highlight and slightly purple shadow in warm light. Opposite is true - a red object in cool light will have slightly purple highlights and a more orange shadow. He does this in the video - shadows are dark purple, mid tones are red, and highlights are peach (high value orange). Once you determine the color, just mix it. Decide your value, hue, and saturation and mix from primaries and white. There are some great color mixing videos on RUclips, just watch those. It’s easy to learn, and with a little practice, it becomes second nature.
Mix yellow to lighten red but keep it red instead of becoming a pink! You can mix yellow and white with a very vibrant red plus readjust by adding more very vibrant red back in!
I've searched up many videos on how to draw folds. This is the best by far!

How do you paint red fabric in acrylic? You can't add white because it makes pink, such a challenge!
