SAR 9 x Platinum for the win. I picked it up and yes Turkey now making great quality guns. My SAR came cerakoted with bunch of accessories. Absolutely love it my SAR 9X platinum, it has serrated ports on the slide.
I've read up on the sar 9 and the consensus is that you need to fire 124 grain or heavier bullets, that it's not reliable or designed to shoot the 115 grain bullets and that's why it has a stiffer spring.
I'm not as well off as I used to be, so when I buy a new gun it has to beat an existing gun in the collection in an elimination round. When I bought my Canik tp9 SF it went up against my modded Gen4 G17 and although there was much to recommend the stock Canik, aftermarket trigger and modifications helped the G17 win.
Tips for the Sar 9. Lube the recoil spring liberally, it's a beef cake 18 pound spring IIRC but it is interchangeable with Glock 17 dual captives & the like from aftermarket makers that have all metal designs compared to polymer. While I don't recommend you swap the recoil spring out, people have said they've done it with good effect so use your own common sense there. Practice lots of dry fire, it'll help the spring stiffness and trigger if you work the action. If possible leave the slide locked back for a few days and that'll help significantly but maybe that was a placebo effect. You could also fire heavy 124 grain to loosen it up faster but with ammo shortages, practice dry fire. I personally don't find the trigger to be "gritty" as some people describe but some of that "grit" has to do with the trigger bar safety. It's something like 5.5 pounds which if I'm not mistaken, is just slightly less than a stock G17 trigger. If it isn't fully depressed with you'll get a little hang up where the trigger/bar enters the frame giving some users that "gritty" feeling. A little lube on those components helps too but not too much. Galloway Precision has a couple aftermarket parts for the Sar 9 including an optic plate for under $30 and a reduce power spring kit for $15. Some people haven't had luck with the Galloway mag extensions but since SAR USA dropped the Sar 9X Platinum, you can find OEM 19 round mags now which better reliability. The Sar 9 is only slightly bigger in height/width/length so it'll fit most Glock 17 holsters snug. I've put about 200ish rounds through my Sar 9 and it's only had 1 FTF and I suspect it was just that one FMJ round that was a little funky, everything else FMJ/JHP have fed flawless.
I have had the s&w, am looking for the iwi massada currently.. Every one of the pistols that u have in this video, are the pistols that are on my immediate "get" list. I'm not a snob. I believe that all off these can hang with the big names. For what I'll use them for, of course. Great video. Liked and saved
I own the Sar9T, G3 and the Beretta APX, along with the Hellcat and Glock 19x. Its a toss up to which one I like more, the APX feels so good in hand but the Sar9 may have a slight edge for its beauty. The S&W SD9 was the only gun I've ever owned that I sold and bought back twice. The Masada has been on my radar for awhile.
I have the same experience you did holding the apx for the first time. So I was a bit perplexed by the end of your video giving your ratings. I listened to your description of each gun without paying attention to the conclusion you drew simply going by what you said about each gun, and I got to say I think you liked the apx the best! 😁
Canik tp9DA Burnt Bronze ( Just goergous color ), Elite, tp9sfx and Sar 9x I own. Sar by far has the best ergonomic of any that own such as Walther, Sigs, Archon. Cheers. I love your videos.
I'm picking up an APX tomorrow and it's going to have to beat the modded Gen4 G17 to stay, although I may keep the G17 for SHTF reasons even if it loses! I haven't liked the Glock grip or angle since I got a Gen2 in the late 90's. And the APX has the best grip ever!
Nice list!! I have been looking for the Masada, can’t find it under $450 anywhere now. I love my Canik elite and my Sar 9, that gun just melts in my hand like the APX does for you. I sold the Smith SD9VE because I just couldn’t get used to the trigger, and replaced it with a Stoeger STR-9 which in my opinion has a much better trigger and grip than the Smith. I know people have had issues with it, but mine has been perfect.
I bought the Masada last year on GunBroker... You can find good deals... I probably shouldnt have included it on this list because they really arent easy to find $400 or under
Guns, Ammo & Drones I have 4 mags for the Stoeger and no magazine issues. I wonder if you can send those back for new ones, their customer service is great. What do you think of the Rex Delta? I see it’s down to $399 now. I’ve thought about getting that one as well.
I was told the black STR9 mags are the good ones... Mine came with 3 stainless which apparently are the problem ones... I called a couple days after I bought it and they werent alot of help... Ill call them again
a bit surprising you chose the sar9, after giving a lot of criticism for it. but i own the taurus g3c and the canik tp9 elite sc. my money is on the canik. can't say enough good things about it. such a gamechanger. with how many features it comes with, well worth the price
FableCountry Not much criticism at all... The Sar9 is awesome... Its in my top 5 fav guns... The G3 and Canik are also awesome... Very worth the prices...
Not sure if you are aware, but the sar 9 is meant to shoot nato 9x19 ammo hence the stiffer recoil spring. You can swap it with a glock 17 spring for about $10 or shoot the crap out of it until the spring wears a bit.
Is it okay to dry fire most new pistols or do I need some snap caps or something? I just bought a new Walther Creed 9mm and a S&W M&P40 M2.0. Both have 4 inch barrels. I am wanting to get a few more good value pistols and a couple of hammer fire pistols. All of these are on my radar. Thanks for the review.
@@jetfu400 nope… The mag is a bit loose in mine and it rattles but a small piece of electrical tape will stop that and it might only be my gun… Its smooth and the trigger is awesome
Gotta tell you, I switch out carrying my Glock 17 and a full sized Beretta APX, and trust both. Don’t have much handling of any of the others in this video, other than my wife’s Taurus G2C, which is also pretty solid.
Do you own any Springfields or the XD by any chance? Looking at that one as an option for range and home defense along with the G3 , M9 2.0 and SD9. I've been watching lots of reviews on the G3 and have yet to hear anything negative about it. Very reliable with a super price. Thx for the video. Jim.
I have videos of the XDs45 and the XDs9 mod2 on my channel... Really nice pistols... I have nothing negative to say about my G3 or my G2C for that matter... Both homeruns for Taurus
Question. When you talk about the price you paid from Gunbroker are you including the shipping charges? I heard you say one time you don't include the transfer fees but I was just curious if you included the shipping. I've ordered a couple on GunBroker in the past but man some of those places charge 25-35 bucks for shipping and once you add that and the FFL fee it can easily add 50-70 bucks to the final price. I always find myself going back to buds or kygunco or smokey mountain guns
I usually look for free shipping and no credit card fee sellers... My ffl is only $10 Every so often Ill get a seller who charges a ridiculous 25 to 30 shipping charge if I want the gun bad enough...
So I ordered the Arex Delta and havent felt it yet... I dont have the Centurion but I do have the APX and feel that it is my 2nd fav feeling gun I own... Ill do a review once it comes in...
Guns, Ammo & Drones I ended up ordering the Rex Delta since I found it in stock for $399. Picked it up today. I will shoot it tomorrow, but I must say it looks and feels great. Smaller than I thought it would be. Lighter and thinner than my Glock 19. Could be a part of my carry rotation if she shoots well.
Caniks starting to get even more popular when i got mine 2 year's ago hella ppl talk shit about it into they shot it and word got out they start flying out of gun stores ppl talk shit about it because where it was made but never shot it i use to have alot of guns into i lost them in a fire but i still have my Canik and i have a Springfield XD 9 now bout to get a m&p EZ I'm working my way back up
Curious, where did you find the Masada for less than $400? I bought mine for $469 shipped NIB. I have not seen them under $450. Even though it is not in the video, I have a NIB Sar CM 9 Gen 2 with a stainless slide on order for $319.00.
You left out the Girsan MC28SA T under $400 with a red dot. I have 3 Caniks they are great guns. I have looked for the Masada ever since it came out and never found it under $450 except on line and with the FFL fee it was still at least $450. Looking to try out the Beretta although I don't shoot 3 dot sights so another $100 for sights is a turn off. I bought the same green dot last week. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but it seems to be a quality optice. I've tried other sub $100 and this is better than the ones I've tried. Made in Oregon.
I owned that exact SD9 by SW and yes it runs well and is reliable and $250 is pretty damn good but the VE in the name means Value Edition so it fits. SW got sued by Glock for stealing the design and SW pays Glock inc. $8 for every SD9 they sell. Now IWI (Israeli weapons industry) is Israel’s premier military gun maker and civilian gun maker. I own a Galil Ace in 7.62x39 and it’s my battle rifle. IWI is excellent in everything they put out. The Masada is no exception. I sold my SD9 to an arms dealer at Tampa gun show then walked ten feet and bought the Taurus PT111 Millennium Pro (G2) for exactly the same amount. The G3 is a G2 with better triggers but a long take up to a soft wall just like the G2. Taurus is stellar but the finish is a single stage parkerization instead of triple stage or 3 coats which means keep away from moisture and water entirely. The Beretta APX is solid but not an M9 or even close as far as quality. For the price it’s great. The slide though appears to have large striating , it’s still smooth and hard to rack the slide compared to others. Besides Taurus , the Canick TP9SFx is the best bang for the buck. They have a TP9 executive elite which is custom and pricey at $879 but the TP9 s around $379 and the TP9SFx is $579 but you get all the bells and whistles plus it’ll stack rounds at 50 yards w/ practice. Extremely accurate and a joy to run. Sarsalmaz is a clone company and makes cheaper versions of some of the best firearms including HK Glock and Beretta.
