BTW coinbase told me there is no way to retrieve my funds and clearly that was bullshit. Beware of people who dont know the intricate steps you can take sometimes to save your ass.

The easiest way is to just use Ian Coleman's BIP39 tool, as it makes it easy to change the derivation path so that you get the address that you are expecting.

Identical process from this video, just import the eth wallet seed in to the official Binance wallet in Chrome and it will give the same address as your eth wallet with the Binance chain tokens there too.

I sent Ethereum from my nano S to my theta wallet. I moved allmy theta to another ledger with a different seed and pin. I also moved my crypto off the Nano S to Nano X. I'm a bit confused and don't want to make a stupid mistake. Could you help?
So you have moved everything off the original Ledger apart from the eth sent to the Theta address? If so, you can just import the seed from that original Ledger and use the Theta derivation path using something like MyEtherWallet. You can then just send the Eth from there to your new wallet/seed.

Thank you for this video. Helped me recover my "missing", Theta which I accidentally sent from Binance to my Trust wallet's Theta Network instead of Theta. If you use the public address (of Theta Network) and check etherscan it will not show the funds. It's only viewable on Theta's explorer. But all good now!

Now, I can go to MEW and import the "Atomic Vechain private key" address into MEW. The process for atomic wallet won't use a seed phrase, because atomic wallet is a terrible wallet which doesn't follow standards... Fortunately, you can go in to atomic wallet and export the individual private key for Ethereum and then import that directly in to Vechain Sync.

Thanks so much for this video. Very helpful, but I'm stuck. I sent my VET to an ETH address using my Trezor. When using the BIP39 html file to enter my mnemonic phrase of my Trezor like you showed, it says that a few words can't be recognized (not listed), so I can't generate derived addresses. Note that when I setup my Trezor device, I chose to have 3 seed phrases that need to be reunite so to complete the whole private key. Trezor offers this option for increased security. 100% this... Easiest way to stay safe is to go Bitcoin only, gets a lot riskier with every single step you take down coinmarketcap... One of the videos in the pipeline is basically "The hidden risks of altcoining" and sending them to a totally wrong address because the devs were too lazy to come up with something unique is a massive risk... (That most folk on these projects aren't very up-front about...) The process will be the same regardless of whether you have a Trezor or a Ledger, the only difference could be that your eth account might use a different derivation path. This process involves extracting provide keys from your seed phrase, so unless you perform this in tails Linux, you risk exposing your seed to scammers and losing everything on your Trezor. (No matter which way you do it, you will be exposing your eth private keys for that address) Other than that it's a simple recovery, the kind of thing than only takes about half an hour when I do it for people as part of a paid recovery.

Having a second hardware wallet certainly make it easier to move to a new seed securely. If you can't work it out, you can either do a paid consultation for $100 USD for an hour, basically stepping you through the process over skype/zoom. Alternatively you can go the trusted recovery route where I do it for you, the fee for which is 10% of funds recovered. (Though this second option requires sharing the old seed with the VET on it)

GRT is just an ERC20 token, so once you have the address in MyEtherWallet you will need to transfer some Ethereum there to pay for the transaction fees.

If you look at your Trezor's eth address on a VET block explorer, you will see that the VET is there. You will just need to follow the process in this video using the seed for your Trezor, being sure to heed the warnings in the video about securing the rest of your crypto on the Trezor.

Ian Coleman's BIP39 tool just runs in your browser and there is a link to it in the video description. Runs the same regardless of your operating system.

I have 2 ethereum wallets on my ledger and originally had one for AGI then bought vechain and made a new ethereum wallet for it on my ledger but when running bip39 the wallet i created for the vechain does not show up, only the one for AGI shows up. Is there a fix to this problem?
This will just be a derivation path thing, so you will need to change the "account" field in the BIP39 tool to 1 for the second account. (If in doubt check the derivation path in Ledger Live, open the account where you sent the funds, click the soanner and it will be in the advanced logs under "Freshaddresspath")

I sent some ETH from my Argent wallet to a VET address on Bitrue. Bitrue are saying they won't try and retrieve them as it will expose the private keys of their wallets temporarily and is a huge security risk. Any advice here mate? Cheers.

I would like just clarify if I should remove all the ethers from arbitrum, optimism or only from etherium? And things like matic or usdt can I keep in metamask during the operation? And if I have some staked tokens connection was done from metamask, will I be able to unstake them later or the whole wallet will be compromised and I won't be able to use it after? I have an impression that the wallet should be empty before starting. Right?
Basically it is about managing risk... The idea behind moving all of the other funds off the wallet is that if you make a mistake handling your private keys, or accidentally land on a malicious Theta wallet, you won't end up losing everything.

Help! in June 2018, I sent Theta as an ERC20 token to my Ledger nano S. I missed the deadline to convert to the mainnet. How do I recover. I tried to retrieve by selecting my Ledger thru the Theta wallet, but the ledger timed out before I could scroll thru all the keys.

I’m sorry I know I commented before, I’m new to this can you please provide some steps for my problem. I bought a token on kucoin called Energy web token (EWT) which has it own blockchain it’s a low cost ETH blockchain. I didn’t know prior, I withdrew my EWT tokens and sent it to my trust wallet to a EWTB erc-20 which is a different blockchain and it never showed up. You will need to use your seed phrase from mnemonic in something like Metamask. It will basically be the same process that I cover in my video on recovery from Binance Smart Chain, except you will use the network info for EWT.

Unfortunately it sounds like you send to the address on an exchange, not in a wallet where you control the private keys. If this is the case, then you will need to contact Binance support. (If you had sent to an address in a wallet you control, it would be different)

Hi thanks for the great video. I have a USB stick with tails Linux and I downloaded the bip39 tool. However the vechain sync Wallet does not seem to be available for Linux. How should I proceed? I don't want to send my private key to a potential insecure windows environment as this defeats the purpose of an isolated airgapped env.
Have one other issue though. I have entered my 24 words in the bip39 tool, but none of the derived addresses matches the ethereum address generated by ledger nano S. I have double checked my 24 words over and over again. Any Idea?
You can go in to Ledger Live and check the derivation path you are using for that Eth account. I demo how to do this in my "watch only wallets" video here: ruclips.net/video/7w4ThvxEK-8/видео.html (You want the freshaddresspath in the advanced options) Ledger Live handles multiple Eth accounts in a strange way and also the old Chrome Eth app used a different derivation path too, so the best bet is to just check it in Ledger Live. Basically you can then just select the BIP32 tab in Ian Coleman's BIP39 tool and put in the derivation path there. (Just leave the last number off) You will then see that the first address generated matches the one in Ledger Live.

Since you control the private keys in Exodus it is a straightforward recovery. You can just use the seed from Exodus in something like Metamask, add the custom token and the funds will be there.

This withdrawal wouldn't have gone through, as a VET address isn't valid on the BTC network. Do you mean that you sent the VET to your Eth address? (This would have gone through without as much as a warning and need the process in this video to recover it)

The BIP39 tool will work fine on MacOS... Security wise, unless you are running this in an air-gapped Tails OS environment, you should move all your funds to a new wallet... Regardless of how you do it, that specific Eth address will be compromised, so you should move all funds off there.
Tails isn't an app that you run, it's a separate operating system that you boot in to. Regardless of what you do, the eth address with the VET will be compromised. (Using tails just means that all the other cryptos on your wallet remain secure)

Identical process from this video, just import the eth wallet seed in to the official Binance wallet in Chrome and it will give the same address as your eth wallet with the Binance chain tokens there too.

So you have moved everything off the original Ledger apart from the eth sent to the Theta address? If so, you can just import the seed from that original Ledger and use the Theta derivation path using something like MyEtherWallet. You can then just send the Eth from there to your new wallet/seed.

You need to extract the private key for that address and use it in a vet wallet
Thank you for this video. Helped me recover my "missing", Theta which I accidentally sent from Binance to my Trust wallet's Theta Network instead of Theta. If you use the public address (of Theta Network) and check etherscan it will not show the funds. It's only viewable on Theta's explorer. But all good now!

I sent ethereum (from Coinbase wallet address) to a vechain (in Atomic wallet address) by mistake, now to recover the funds according to what you explained I created MEW. Now, I can go to MEW and import the "Atomic Vechain private key" address into MEW. After that I got lost about the part offline, can I do this online with VPN? if not, please advise on how to use tiles. thank you again.
The process for atomic wallet won't use a seed phrase, because atomic wallet is a terrible wallet which doesn't follow standards...
Fortunately, you can go in to atomic wallet and export the individual private key for Ethereum and then import that directly in to Vechain Sync.

Thanks so much for this video. Very helpful, but I'm stuck. I sent my VET to an ETH address using my Trezor. When using the BIP39 html file to enter my mnemonic phrase of my Trezor like you showed, it says that a few words can't be recognized (not listed), so I can't generate derived addresses. Note that when I setup my Trezor device, I chose to have 3 seed phrases that need to be reunite so to complete the whole private key. Trezor offers this option for increased security. The process will be the same regardless of whether you have a Trezor or a Ledger, the only difference could be that your eth account might use a different derivation path. This process involves extracting provide keys from your seed phrase, so unless you perform this in tails Linux, you risk exposing your seed to scammers and losing everything on your Trezor. (No matter which way you do it, you will be exposing your eth private keys for that address)
Other than that it's a simple recovery, the kind of thing than only takes about half an hour when I do it for people as part of a paid recovery.
@@CryptoGuide I thought about buying another trezor and sending everything I have from my old trezor to the new one, so I can do it without fear. If I can't recover my Vechains, can you recover? And how much would you charge?
Having a second hardware wallet certainly make it easier to move to a new seed securely. If you can't work it out, you can either do a paid consultation for $100 USD for an hour, basically stepping you through the process over skype/zoom.
Alternatively you can go the trusted recovery route where I do it for you, the fee for which is 10% of funds recovered. (Though this second option requires sharing the old seed with the VET on it)

Yea this is often a company policy issue, not a technical issue... It's possible that they may support it at some point in the future, at which your funds will become available.

GRT is just an ERC20 token, so once you have the address in MyEtherWallet you will need to transfer some Ethereum there to pay for the transaction fees.

If you look at your Trezor's eth address on a VET block explorer, you will see that the VET is there. You will just need to follow the process in this video using the seed for your Trezor, being sure to heed the warnings in the video about securing the rest of your crypto on the Trezor.

Ian Coleman's BIP39 tool just runs in your browser and there is a link to it in the video description. Runs the same regardless of your operating system.

If you sent an unsupported token to a custodial wallet/exchange then your only option is to contact Binance support and hope they help you.

You should be able to open your theta keystore directly in MyEtherWallet.

Just import your seed in to a wallet that does (like MyEtherWallet)

You just need to know which derivation path your phone is using. What wallet are you running on your phone?

Should be straightforward and will be a similar process.
I have 2 ethereum wallets on my ledger and originally had one for AGI then bought vechain and made a new ethereum wallet for it on my ledger but when running bip39 the wallet i created for the vechain does not show up, only the one for AGI shows up. Is there a fix to this problem?
This will just be a derivation path thing, so you will need to change the "account" field in the BIP39 tool to 1 for the second account. (If in doubt check the derivation path in Ledger Live, open the account where you sent the funds, click the soanner and it will be in the advanced logs under "Freshaddresspath")

Sha just looks like a VET token so you should be able to recover it fairly easily using the process I covered in my video for recovering Eth clones.

I sent some ETH from my Argent wallet to a VET address on Bitrue. Bitrue are saying they won't try and retrieve them as it will expose the private keys of their wallets temporarily and is a huge security risk. Any advice here mate? Cheers.
Since you used a custodial platform, unfortunately you don't have any options other than asking their support.

Hello Steve, I have exactly the same situation - theta tokens sent to metamask. Thanks to your video I got an idea how to fix it!!! I would like just clarify if I should remove all the ethers from arbitrum, optimism or only from etherium? And things like matic or usdt can I keep in metamask during the operation? And if I have some staked tokens connection was done from metamask, will I be able to unstake them later or the whole wallet will be compromised and I won't be able to use it after? I have an impression that the wallet should be empty before starting. Right?
Basically it is about managing risk... The idea behind moving all of the other funds off the wallet is that if you make a mistake handling your private keys, or accidentally land on a malicious Theta wallet, you won't end up losing everything.

Help! in June 2018, I sent Theta as an ERC20 token to my Ledger nano S. I missed the deadline to convert to the mainnet. How do I recover. I tried to retrieve by selecting my Ledger thru the Theta wallet, but the ledger timed out before I could scroll thru all the keys.

Thanks for the video. I just linked my theta wallet to the theta exchange and then added the BID (bidao) coin to the wallet and sent a bunch of BiD to the theta wallet last night and after a few hours I still had not received anything but it did go out of my ledger wallet. Any thought?
Can you see it on a block explorer? Are you sure you used the right blockchain and didn't send it on something like the eth chain?

@@CryptoGuide block explorer? I clicked on the block and have who mined it, their reward and all the info on when and all transactions on the block. Hash, parent hash, sha3uncles, state root and nonce code that is there. Not sure what any of that is
So is the token balance just sitting there if you look at the address on Etherscan?

Hi so i have an ellipal hardware wallet. so i tried to convert some of my VET to DOGE but instead of it sending to my Doge Address it sent to another VET address but when i clicked the Vet address on more info that VET address is actually empty. I dont know what to do. is there any way i can recover this still?
If you sent the vet to your eth address from your ellipal that's an easy recovery. The process on this video will work.
Super new to this, I watched this video for hours and it still isn't making senes. There will be more and more newbs coming into the crypto space and they will be making these mistakes. I sent Vet and Matic from crypto.com to my nano x. I received the Matic But not the VET. Both were sent to the same address, which I confirmed on my nano x. . I transferred the Matic off the ledger x to try and receive my VET. When I looked for the exact addresses I sent it to, I can not find it. In your video, the 1st option on the list was the correct one. please help
If in doubt, just check the derivation path in Ledger Live, it can be found in the advanced logs for the account as freshaddresspath.

I made the mistake of trying to send my shuba directly to my coinbase wallet for ethereum (newbie). So now I have about 1000 sitting in limbo. I don't know if you can reverse it or not. Coinbase doesn't give you a private key for your ethereum wallet either. I sent from coinbase wallet to coinbase

I purchased Bitcoin token in Coinbase Pro and used simple swap to exchanged for Ethereum tokens and sent it to the Theta wallet. Because Coinbase Pro doesn't have a receiving address, can I download a Trust Wallet and use the Trust Wallet receiving address to recover my Ethereum token that is mistakenly sent to the Theta wallet?
You will need to use this process with the seed from your theta wallet.
I’m sorry I know I commented before, I’m new to this can you please provide some steps for my problem.
I bought a token on kucoin called Energy web token (EWT) which has it own blockchain it’s a low cost ETH blockchain. I didn’t know prior, I withdrew my EWT tokens and sent it to my trust wallet to a EWTB erc-20 which is a different blockchain and it never showed up.
I could see my transaction on Energy web browser blockchain site.
How can I recover my tokens and where can I store it afterwards. I heard maybe mycrypto or metamask.
Lastly I have quite a few other tokens on my trustwallet will I be putting these tokens at risk while trying to recover them.

You will need to use your seed phrase from mnemonic in something like Metamask. It will basically be the same process that I cover in my video on recovery from Binance Smart Chain, except you will use the network info for EWT.

Unfortunately it sounds like you send to the address on an exchange, not in a wallet where you control the private keys. If this is the case, then you will need to contact Binance support. (If you had sent to an address in a wallet you control, it would be different)

Hi thanks for the great video. I have a USB stick with tails Linux and I downloaded the bip39 tool. However the vechain sync Wallet does not seem to be available for Linux. How should I proceed? I don't want to send my private key to a potential insecure windows environment as this defeats the purpose of an isolated airgapped env.

Have one other issue though. I have entered my 24 words in the bip39 tool, but none of the derived addresses matches the ethereum address generated by ledger nano S. I have double checked my 24 words over and over again. Any Idea?
You can go in to Ledger Live and check the derivation path you are using for that Eth account. I demo how to do this in my "watch only wallets" video here: ruclips.net/video/7w4ThvxEK-8/видео.html (You want the freshaddresspath in the advanced options)
Ledger Live handles multiple Eth accounts in a strange way and also the old Chrome Eth app used a different derivation path too, so the best bet is to just check it in Ledger Live.
Basically you can then just select the BIP32 tab in Ian Coleman's BIP39 tool and put in the derivation path there. (Just leave the last number off) You will then see that the first address generated matches the one in Ledger Live.

Since you control the private keys in Exodus it is a straightforward recovery. You can just use the seed from Exodus in something like Metamask, add the custom token and the funds will be there.

That's correct in terms of Exodus, if they support Matic then your funds will simply appear in Exodus.

Thanks for great video, not sure if it applies to me. I tried my Trezor Model T for first time and tried to withdraw VET from Bittrex to Trezor but by mistake I used Trezors address for BTC, am I screwed ?
This withdrawal wouldn't have gone through, as a VET address isn't valid on the BTC network. Do you mean that you sent the VET to your Eth address? (This would have gone through without as much as a warning and need the process in this video to recover it)

The BIP39 tool will work fine on MacOS... Security wise, unless you are running this in an air-gapped Tails OS environment, you should move all your funds to a new wallet... Regardless of how you do it, that specific Eth address will be compromised, so you should move all funds off there.
Tails isn't an app that you run, it's a separate operating system that you boot in to.
Regardless of what you do, the eth address with the VET will be compromised. (Using tails just means that all the other cryptos on your wallet remain secure)
