Remarkably Bright Creatures was a really nice story! Also, not a “talking” octopus but there are chapters from the POV of the octopus (which were incredible)
Remarkably Bright Creatures is such a good book. I was honestly amazed at how much I enjoyed it as it didn’t sound like something I’d enjoy. That’s the joys of reading 📚📚
The Kindred’s curse saga is incredible it is my new favorite. I read all 3 books in 4 days and haven’t felt that way about a story and the writing since I read Throne of Glass years ago.
Persuasion is Second Chance romance and is my favorite Jane Austen novel. I hope you enjoy it. Also, prepare yourself to be devastated by Voice in the Wind. It’s very heavy but keep with it. Book two is my favorite. It was one of my top reads from last year.
I really, really strongly recommend reading Emma before reading Persuasion. Persuasion is very difficult and slow with minimal dialogue. Emma is very funny, romantic, and is much easier to read. Persuasion is always the book I recommend for people to read last of Austen’s work since it’s much more technical.
Just from the thumbnail, I can see that several of these made it to the top of my list in 2024! Beartown, The God of the Woods, and Remarkably Bright Creatures 😊
As soon as I heard about Onyx Storm coming out I knew that I needed to read it. I read Fourth Wing and Iron Flame last year. Both Fourth Wing and Iron Flame were five star reads for me.
If you feel intimidated by greek mythology, an easy one to start with is percy jackson!!! The first 2 or 3 books can feel a little bit middle grade ( because that's what they are, hehe😭, but i still REALLY enjoyed them), however, the last 2 are the best thing EVER. the romance sub-plot is one of my fav romances ever🫶🏻
The book I'm most excited about for this year on my tbr is well of ascension. Brandon Sanderson has become one of my favorite authors very quickly. I've read all the secret projects aside from sunlit man, and the first mistborn book. I'm also patiently waiting for the third emily wildes book to come out in February.
persuasion is one of my favorite books and was a top book of 2024; it’s a six star read! it’s such a beautifully heartbreaking love story, and austen’s writing is so wonderful! i really think and hope you’ll love it 😍📚🥳
I loved assistant to the villain! It is SUPPOSED to be kind of cheesy and goofy! It felt like a combination of The Princess Bride, Ella Enchanted, and Shrek to me! If you like those vibes you’ll probably really enjoy this series!
The audiobook of Remarkably Bright Creatures is so on point - highly recommend listening to it! It was surprisingly my fav book of 2024 and took me a long time to pick it up and instantly regretted waiting so long!
I’m so glad you put assistant to the villain on it. I loved it so much. It’s just a fun cozy fantasy that will make you laugh out loud. I really hope you like it. I’m also so glad you are going to continue the skyward series and Mistborn series. They are both so good and amazing! I just recently finished the skyward series and loved it. Btw when you were talking about the skyward series you said her name is spin. Her name is Spensa. Her call sign is spin and she’s called that when she flys only I think. It’s not a big deal that you said it wrong but I’m just letting you know.
A book that I actually need to get to this year or I will be mad at myself because it literally sits on my shelf... is Fourth Wing. I don't know why I haven't read it yet, probably because I have so many fantasy series that I'm in the middle of so I didn't want to start a new one. But hopefully this year I'll see what the hype around it is about!
Just to let you know you should definitely check out the TW’s before reading bear town. I haven’t read it but whenever people do they say to check them first.
OMG. If we were villains is incredible. truly one of my fav books of all time. don't let the secret history throw you off, i have attempted to read it several times and i haven't gotten through it. i cannot wait to hear your thoughts on all of these ❤
I love Assistant to the Villain! It’s has more of a Grims Brothers fairytale feel to it than high stakes fantasy. Don’t expect high stakes it’s definitely more of a comedy and an adventure story. Definitely recommend ❤
Cannot wait to see you read Fredrik Backman. I love his writing, so unique, which also makes ir really hit or miss. So far I´ve only read Anxious People (my first read of 2025) and I thought it was amazing!
Great to see you back in another video Rachel, with the Belladonna series just to let you know there is another book coming to the series. It is going to be a novella called Holly. UK release date is October this year.
Two series that are lingering in my mind and I need to finish this year are the naturals series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and the rebel blue ranch series by Lyla Sage. I have read the first two in the naturals series and rated them five stars so I need to continue it. I also read done and dusted recently and loved it way more than I thought I would. I can’t wait to finish that series as well.
hey Rachel, I was wondering what you thought of All the light we Cannot See, it's one of my favourites and I would love to hear your opinion... Thanks so much for your videos they make me so happy and seeing you post on a Monday morning is incredible it makes my day! ❤
I just finished Remarkable Bright Creatures , if you dont read this book you are missing out!! You will fall in love with the octopus 🐙 i am now so interested in octopuses 🐙 my favorite book so far this year 5 star 🌟 read for me !!! ❤❤❤❤
hey tracy..i wanna read this book so bad…im scared something will happen to the octopus 😔 im sensitive when it comes to animals….can u tell me a little bit about it?
@marlapilkins5707 it's so beautiful and I don't want to give any spoilers away but it's a must read !! As reading it I had to start researching octopus cause I honestly didn't know much about them and wow what beautiful creatures.
Great video! I also have a quite a few books on your 2025 list to get through as well 😂As for Christina Lauren - I actually was not a fan of Love and Other Words but I really enjoyed The Paradise Problem! Happy reading 😀
t felt like this book was following me-every comment section, every convo with my friends, someone was bringing it up. i wasn’t even planning on reading it, but the curiosity got to me. Magnetic Aura by takeshi mizuki was hard to track down, but now i get why so many people were talking about it. within two weeks, my confidence shot through the roof, people started noticing me in ways they never did before, and my goals feel so much more within reach. it’s wild how fast things shifted.
I read The God of the Woods a few weeks ago and it was honestly one of the best books I've ever read! I absolutely ate it up and didn't want it to end! Also, I don't consider it a thriller. It has some spooky-ish aspects, but it's really more of a mystery. ALSO the books I HAVE to get to this year are Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and The Ministry of Time!
Paradise Problem was so good on audiobook! I also loved Beartown and Us Against You (the second book). Backman has a way with words and connections and jist writing about people. His books are amazing! Also, loved Anxious People, would definitely re-read it! I have The Thirteenth Child and The Metal Slinger to read as well!
I’m reading Mistborn 1 from the original trilogy and I’m in ❤😍 halfway through but just bought The Well of Ascension so can’t wait to hear your take on it 🫶🏾
I loved Skyward. It's so fun. The original Mistborn trilogy is incredible. I hope you love The God of the Woods. I really enjoyed that one, too. Remarkably Bright Creatures is a favorite! Enjoy your reading year!
I do think if you want to read Games gods play (also on my tbr!) and are nervous about Greek mythology knowledge you should read the first couple Percy Jackson books! I read them in middle school and super easy to understand and get basic details about the Greek gods
Nora goes off script is one of my fav romances of all time!! I hope you love it. That being said, Ministry of time is one of my least fav reads ever. 😅 can’t wait to hear your thoughts this year!!
Haha that’s crazy that you said it seems like someone is always reading it for the first time, and I started reading “if we were villains” this morning 🤣🤣
I'm so glad you finally read Skyward. Also I recently read The well of ascension and really enjoyed it. I'm going to read The hero of ages soon though I am not sure when I am going to read the Mistborn era two books.
Hahah i need to get to Magnolia Parks this year :) also im so happy youve read starsight!!! Dont skip the novellas though! You can get them all in one bound copy or ive heard that the audiobooks are fantastic. :)
I would love to read the rest of Emily Henry's backlist (I've only read two) AND i would love to read more of the Addicted series & the Calloway Sisters series (I've also only read the first two)
you should do a video series each month reading 1-3 of these books!! that would be such a fun reading vlog!
i am LOVING the constant content!! it’s so fun watching a bestie rachel video every few days!!
I DO love Metal Slinger and I am SO excited about this 🤭❤
7:39 beartown was sooo good. Girl it wasnt my usual genre but i loved it i cant wait to read the next one. His writing is poetic to say the least
Remarkably Bright Creatures was a really nice story! Also, not a “talking” octopus but there are chapters from the POV of the octopus (which were incredible)
I almost SCREAMED when I saw A Voice in the Wind. The Mark of the Lion is my FAVORITE series ever!!!!
Also Metal Slinger is fun and has an great plot twist, worth it just for that !!
Same! I can’t wait for the fourth book!
@@amieesavedbygrace i hope it’s soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻
So random but I always love the verses at the beginning of each video ✝️💕📚
Omg i always recommend Beartown to everyone and I can’t wait till you read it I do hope you love it
Persuasion is Second Chance romance and is my favorite Jane Austen novel.
