My great grandfather, was a locomotive mechanic down here in New Mexico. This is one of the loco's he worked on, so I am very much looking forward, to seeing her run.
If they did a complete rebuild - such as the UP steam shops do, there would be no problems. Largest 4-8-4? How about the UP 844? That is no toy engine by any means and it is fully operational. There is little doubt about the dedication of the crew who has taken the effort to restore this to functional condition. But if any shortcuts have been made it will be apparent on the trip to Las Vegas.
Like to See it come to Kansas.. Newton Ks stills has an operating Turntable, it would be a Great Long Trip to stretch the Engine's Legs & it would be Running on the ole Santa Fe Route 🚂🚃🚃🚃..
Santa Fe 2926 is a 4-8-4 class 2900 series built by bladiwn in 1944 it pulled Passenger and freight trains in Eastern United States Retired in the 1950s and placed on display in a park will run again when Restoration is complete August 22 2018 a new fire was aploded for the first time it can Produce £79,00
The real test of accomplishment would be for a couple of the UP steam crew to visit and gice a full inspection. . Those guys do nothing but restore and operate the largest engines in service. If ever there is a reservoir of knowledge and experience it is in the UP shops. All those interested in bringing old engines back to life should take a course from the UP people. The nice paint is the last thing they think about.
Bob Russell 611 crew sure knows what they’re doing. They restored every inch of her to near factory condition, been taking a seam out of the tender that a wreck caused in late 58’, so they are fairly knowledgeable
Steam locomotive and semaphore signals? The past that makes the present have meaning. That would attract about 2.5 million photographers! Big Boy and ATSF 2926 could be on the road at the time out West. Wouldn't that be something?
Yep. Just had a tragedy with UP steam. Too much lack of respect for moving equipment and lack of situational awareness. The more people at track-side the greater the percentage that uneducated "foamers" may cause bad consequences. I'm an agnostic foamer ... I'll approach tracks and equipment but will stop short, respect the camera line, and will appear calm and collected while wiping my foam away from my mouth. Steam locomotives bring something out in folks. Good video-thanks.
Wow I’m so excited to see her run!!!! Now, who is going to run this thing for them to French? They have to be qualified on the physical characteristics on the territory.
Yard Limit I heard from a friend of mine who is retired from Amtrak and he told me no current engineers in that area are qualified on steam. I heard some guys from the cumbres are gonna run it.
Should put the desktop control stand with computer screens in it lol just kidding bnsf and others have bin pulling thim out of there gp60m and sd60m and putting the old control stands way better for switching and running long hood forward.

That will be a great gift to your grandfather's memory!
Most definitely.
I've been following this project since my junior year of high school. Glad its finished, I hope I get to see it someday
It's almost finished. There are still a few things to do but hopefully in the next couple months it will be ready.
Why anyone would give a thumbs down on any steam locomotive restoration is beyond me. Beautiful job.👍
Thank you!
Can't wait to see 2926's first movement under her own power since the 50s!
It will be a amazing!
I'm sooooooooooooooooo excited to see it running!!
Hopefully by the end of the year!
They were powerful locomotives in their day. Excellent video Tom.
iusetano Thank you, Hans!
Great video of our work session. Thanks!
Thank you! How are you affiliated with 2926?
Yard Limit - Life member of the NMSL&RHS and a regular Saturday worker.
Thank you. You people are doing an amazing job! New Mexico is proud of all of you!
Awesome! Will be great to see that engine on the mainline.
It will be spectacular!
A lit fire, she's getting closer! :D
Soon we hope!
Very Well Done! She's Finally Under her Own steam! Fingers crossed she wont derail again and be running soon!
Hopefully by the end of this year!
A couple small steam leak after 60 plus years and a rebuild, I'd say thats totally acceptable. It looks awesome, good luck.
Definitely. Thanks!

Great to see that it's finally under steam! I sure hope I can make the trip to Albuquerque to see it at last!
A lot of people will be here to see that!
Awesome how many?
Won't be long now until she's ready to hit the open main line again!
Hopefully by the end of the year!
Nice work Tom, excellent video! Looking forward to seeing her down the line : )

Thanks Larry!

Great, great video of a classic engine. Thanks!

That sounds like a great idea!
Es un trabajo muy impresionante la restauración que le están haciendo a esta bellísima locomotora. Ojalá esté pronto corriendo.
nice video bro
Thank you!
Sweet video Tom
Thank you. I was pretty happy with how this one turned out.
YES! IT'S COMING BACK!
Soon, hopefully!
Nice hopefully one of these days ATSF 2926 runs on the active rails
Hopefully by the end of this year!
Can't wait to hear that whistle on her!

Santa Fe 2926 was saved from the scrapped yard with her sisters.
I'd say to invest in an auxiliary canteen tender. Maybe since 3751 is no longer in operation, they could loan an aux tender to 2926 if they have one?
They doing excellent JOBS, but I pray 2926 steam could visit stop by Waukegan, ILL Metra station or union, IL
That would be cool!
Well it’s amazing
It really is going to be spectacular!
I hope the AT&SF #2926 have an auxiliary water tender!
Why?
I wonder what type of aux tender will she have?
611 crew did an inspection and looked past the nice paint, they were not impressed and see huge issues coming if this ever does move.
So I've heard. I hope they listen to people that know what they're doing.

2926 and 3751 together plz
How cool would that be!
*Thanks for giving number of the other Steamer!* Amazed how deep I had to go in the comments to see mention of it...
Any news so far on the condition of the locomotive and when they plan on starting excursion service?
This is my latest update: ruclips.net/video/vurnFvRj9ZM/видео.html
@@YardLimit Thank you!
Would be neat to see go through a semaphore signal set
A lot of us are looking forward to that!

Attracting foamers would be the downside to the experience.

@@billtimmons7071that's very true
I'm so glad that 2926 got fired up! When will she be in full operation?
Hopefully by the end of this year.
The Y at French is the York cayon mine spur.
Interesting. Thanks!
Wow I’m so excited to see her run!!!! Now, who is going to run this thing for them to French? They have to be qualified on the physical characteristics on the territory.
Oh, I'm sure there are some Amtrak engineers that are qualified on Steam and qualified on that route!
Yard Limit I heard from a friend of mine who is retired from Amtrak and he told me no current engineers in that area are qualified on steam. I heard some guys from the cumbres are gonna run it.
We'll see. I'm sure that won't be a problem when the time comes.
What work has to be done?
More boiler testing and sheet metal work as I understand it.
larger than union pacifics 844?
no
@@YardLimit thanks
no because they have smaller driving wheel than FEF series like 844
I always like seeing a Steamy on the main but to many other "railfans" for me.
I'm sure there will be many from all over the world to see this. Thanks Parker!
Your welcome, Tom.

They never run long hood forward normally anyway but the side stands are simply more comfortable
Not the most powerful, the N&W J's had a slightly higher tractive effort.
