So... this is a paid app. Bit of a waste of money considering I only want the shutter count for one camera in order to list it honestly on eBay. Sorry, but this wasn't any help at all.
Alot of misconception on shutter count when it comes to dslrs. For dslrs not every shutter count you see on that website is really a shutter count. what that site reads in the exif data is the number of times the mirror was locked up.. so it's goin to record a shutter count just to enter live view, clean your sensor etc...for mirrorless cameras, the result from the website is more accurate
I just bought a used EOS M3 a few weeks ago and it has less than 1000 photos taken. The number is actually part of the shooting information. I think the previous owner used it mainly for video logging.

There is no 'shutter count' embedded in any JPEG files that I look at via my Photoshop - on my 6D Canon. The software you mention here that I have tried does not work. It keeps telling me to turn on my camera, when it is in fact turned on and connected to my PC via the USB connection with with Shutter Count v1.58 ?? A camera repair shop told me via phone that they too sometimes have a difficult time determining the shutter count on the Canon 6D s. Any reason for this and any other ideas aside from shipping it to an authorized Canon Dealer? (even if this wouls work??) Thanks.
I still use a Nikon F film body I’ve had since 1966 and it has 850,000 cycles and still works fine. I think all this talk about film cycles is hog wash …at least on quality brand cameras. Even if your shutter does bite the dust a replacement shutter and installation cost is still cheaper than replacing the camera body. Don’t do it unless you want features not available on the body you have.

It seems that the app doesn’t show all shutter counts. I know for sure I had taken over 200 000 pictures with my old camera and I bought it used too. Still the app showed 53 000 for the next owner who bought the camera from me.
