Back when arenacross was arenacross , josh was the man ! He went out of his way in albany to come over and say high to my kid who was racing minis ... ill never forget it ... thanks josh
I grew up in the Villopoto and Dungey era of the sport, but I always and still do look up old races to educate myself on the sport and Demuth was one of those guys that stood out, great style, great personality and all around good dude. Such a big loss to moto industry. Thanks for that tribute to him!
Josh was a great friend. He was up here in New England from 98 to 02 had a lot of fun times one time we were up in Killington, Mountain Biking and he took this pro mountain bike rider to task, smoked his ass and stuffed them in the woods. Josh never went down that trail once it was just incredible to see the talent. I worked at REP up here in New England. And his manager at that time was Jack Yost, a fun Texan he was one time. Josh and Jack showed up for the nationals in Southwick. Jack brought these bottles of bloody Mary mix from Texas. Josh signed one as a joke. I still have the bottle probably never get rid of it, damn I love that guy and miss him dearly
very nice tribute. i dated josh's uncle back in the day, josh was 6 and and an ornery lil shit lol I remember him as being fearless. He and his family moved south and I didn't follow his career. Prayers to his entire family. RIP Josh
Nice words to remember great talent..I never grew up enough to stop riding dirt bikes... I'll keep doing it without talent, in awe of 'fast beyond fun'🏁
Thank you..Had his 2004 YZF 450. So proud of it. Was honored to own it for a bit. Never met him either .But such a good person from what I heard of him..
I suffer every day with knee issue, having both replaced because of osteoarthritis from racing, and I was nowhere near pro. I remember watching films of retired badass football players and their everyday routine and the pain they put up with just getting out of bed. Looks like someone needs to put together a documentary about retired MX stars and how they get on with their bodied after racing. Good Stuff here CM... Thanks
Knew Josh vaguely. He took a liking to my son back in the early 2000s when he was racing 65s. Of course, we didn’t live far from Hofmaster and Tommy trained at our place on occasion. I’m sure that helped. Josh made sure there was room for us to pit at several events. I remember that what you saw with Josh was what you got. He was was a likable guy that was a badass when he needed to be. And no matter what he was doing, he always had time to say hello. RIP, Josh. And thank you.
Cooksey your straight up honesty and love for the riders and the sport are like nothing else in Mx/Sx thank you for doing what you do. The dragon of addiction is probably one of the hardest fights a human can take on. We are so Blessed you didn't stop fighting.
Wow! Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this comment means and how close I was to being another statistic. I will keep fighting for the riders and the sport.
I went through going off pain meds after multiple surgery's and it was a bitch getting of them but did it took 5 months for me!! And my prayers out to his Joushs family!! All 3 of ya are awesome guys!
Man, this bums me out. He was my friend. The nicest dude ever. I was happy that he managed to ride again after the big crash. I hope that his family is taking it ok.
That was a nice tribute. These guys don’t ever realize the impact they have on so many racers and fans as they progress through their career. I was a fan and it’s tough to hear after the fact he was struggling. A transitional program after calling it a career in MX/SX is so needed on a few critical levels. Occupational, expectations, finance, psychological just to name a few.
I was a big Demuth fan, I remember when Bradshaw broke his foot, that opened the door for Josh to take over. Those were some of the best races of all time. Godspeed Josh.
Pain medication a definite problem with sports like motorcycle racing, rodeo riders, fighting ect. After many desert racing crashes I've been there myself.
As a fan of this sport since '97, Josh Demuth was a name I heard quite a bit in 125cc Supercross, and I still have one Arenacross from 2000 on my account where he won the 250cc main in Hampton, VA on a Thor Honda (factory Honda I'm sure). Funny you bring up that Arenacross moment with Josh Demuth, Cooksey because that was likely my last year following Arenacross (2002) because Damon Bradshaw was racing that series, and that was the first series without Buddy Antunez. I vividly remember that leg injury Bradshaw got, but I totally forgot that was because of Demuth challenging him. I was also pulling for Bradshaw because I had nothing but respect for him and I wanted to see him claim the big prize, and he never did.
This is very sad to see, I got me to meet Josh in Vegas at the Supercross in the early 2000's. Very nice and cool dude! My deepest condolences to his family and his fans! They don't make them like this anymore!
I remember one of the magazines had a Demuth article on style it was a picture of him on his 250f and 450f in the mid jump arenacross and it was like an identical photoshop his technique was so good
I randomly decided to race the BooKoo ArenaCross in Glendale one year. It was the arena next to the cardinals stadium now. During practice i was standing next to the whoops. Josh blitzed them the first lap and went over the bars at the end of them. He pretty much landed at my feet. He got up and was like they didn’t finish the effing whoops. (Or something to that nature) I guess the track crew left the front side of one of the whoops unfinished. Anyhow that’s my Josh Demuth story. Also watched him race a lot in the AMA arena cross series in the Midwest. I remember watching him at the lazy E in particular. Also Cooperland.
Yes he broke his "good leg" last weekend and had an unknown blood clot develop and he passed. He was always so happy when I would see him around on his street bike getting gas here in the metro fort worth area where I live.
@@CookseyMedia he raced (rode, I mean) last weekend and broke his leg. He had what is believed to be a blood clot develop that was sudden and it is possibly the reason as to why he passed. You saying people are being quiet, as if it's something dark that happened, is not accurate around the Fort Worth area, because this just happened and an official autopsy may not have been concluded yet and they have said what they think he passed from to friends. It's a little early to be hinting at why he died as if he overdosed(seemed you were suspecting that a possibility and I suppose it is but why say that), and frankly, a little disrespectful.
@@sydneyjohnston4631 the break of his femur was not in his amputated leg but his good leg is what I hear, but like I said it's still probably too early to officially know the cause of death because the complete autopsy results might take while, as far as the tox panel and other tests go. I am in the fort Worth area and know much of the mx community and my best friend's son in law is a pro and raced Josh, and knows all the local riders well, and he told me that they don't suspect what the haters suspect, but can't be sure yet.
Why even bring up Deegan being a dick? Irrelevant to the topic of the video and almost pulls the story away from what it was supposed to be. Condolences to this man's loved ones!
deegan has always been a dick, now he's bullying kid's who race his children. Check out what he pulled at Loretta Lynn's last year...smfh..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
First, you compare him losing his leg to you losing a toe, then hint at suicide when the suspected cause of death was a blood clot. And even after that comes out, you decide to keep the video up. Nice “tribute.”
I did say I don’t know what happened in his situation and I can only speak on my situation. It doesn't matter what I say, or how much I respect Demuth people like you will find a way to turn it back on me. Good day!
He didn't kill himself. He broke his leg racing(riding) last weekend and had a blood clot(suspected) develop that was unknown and he passed. He was a real person who overcame a lot including losing the lower part of his right leg. I would see him on his street bike around where I live in the fort worth area and he always had a smile on his face and was happy as could be. I saw him several times getting gas at the quick shops a few times. You call him a deviant but how can you classify him like that. Most normal guys when they are young have a wild side and I think that's who he was. I would say he was a rebel and not a deviant from how I see it.
@@dougdickason hey, I just want to clear up that he didn’t “break his leg racing”. I was with him when he got hurt the weekend before last, it was a small accident and he chipped his femur. RIH Josh Demuth!
You forgot aabout his pc ride and he kicked ass in the 250f class. I think the best he did in supercross.
