Enjoy 8 minutes of airline commercials, and the remaining 58 out of 66 minutes where Will Arnett asks a question, then attempts to answer his own question in 17 different ways, then allows 6 seconds for the actual answer from the person he’s asking the question to, which he interrupts in 2 second increments.

“I literally listen to Beethoven, Mozart, and Radiohead, and that’s it.” -Jason Bateman. Hahahahaha. Fan girling.
Jason Batemans stock just went through the roof with me, I have been obsessed with Radiohead for over 25 yrs and sounds like he is pretty obsessed as well. Radiohead in Ozark makes so much sense to me now and it worked perfectly in the scenes.
Is Radiohead in more than two scenes? I know of "Decks Dark" and "The Daily Mail," and I went searching for Season 4 Radiohead but can't find any.
Oui
I can’t believe the frontman, thom yorke and guitarist jonny greenwood from my favorite band, radiohead did an interview with the person who voices bojack horseman, will arnett, from my favorite show, bojack horseman.
yep! I loved bojack. the content of bojack was so much bigger than the show led into.
@@edwardduarte7393 you could explain any plot of the episodes and it would fail to capture how amazing the show truly is.
Now I'm gonna be disappointed if Radiohead doesn't show up one last time at the final season of Ozark. Jason struggling not to fangirl too much is cute and relatable lmao
Jason, at least you were able to speak. I would've been so flabbergasted that I would've just stared.
52:53 Dude.... They weren't satisfied with how Decks Dark was recorded?? It's literally one of the best Radiohead songs in terms of mixing, mastering and arranging.

They’re perfectionists.
Yeah! That bass pocket sticks out as a favorite part for me
10:09 - 12:09
is probably one of the greatest moments in podcasting history
This was probably the best & well asked question I’ve ever heard in a TY interview and they completely fumble fu*ked it up right as Johnny was about to respond.
@@AB-wy7dr completely agreed
@@AB-wy7dr It was a too long and serious question with practically no warm up for the guests. That's why they fumbled fucked it.
At Bonnaroo 2012, Thom Yorkes eye being zoomed in on 12 tv screens while he was playing piano is still the trippiest thing I've ever seen. Everyone in the audience thought it was CGI or like an animated eye, and then he just leans back and we realize he was right up against that camera while playing. I was dosed outta my mind at the time but I bet if you can find that clip it really was that crazy
and then he starts talking about how when he was going to festivals when he was younger he'd fall face first in the mud after doing a bunch of acid
That's "You and Whose Army" I think.
Saw them on that tour around that time and remember that! Went with my younger brother still my favorite concert I’ve seen.
Livestreamed it whilst sitting in a thunderstorm. Great great show.
I was there! That version of videotape was magical, anyone who hasn't heard it really should I wish they would have kept the guitars in it.
We need cameras!! Please I’m dying!! Soooo good.
Love Jason going full-on fanboy. Great conversation
These guys with their long meandering questions, and then ribbing each other for it, never ceases to amuse me lol
Its unwatchable.
radiohead changed my life and i was already deep into film and music but at the time i loved film more but now i really don't know. thom yorke is big inspiration of mine.
“Ask them what their favorite color is afterwards”
Omglmfao
Oh my god! I love smartless and radiohead so much! Even my mother who is almost 50 years old loves radiohead AND smartless! This collab is amazing!!!
Well the guys in Radiohead are around 50 now…
😅 Your mom was probably a Radiohead fan from the start. She's around their age
48:12 was definetly a highlight lol
This is one of the best and only interviews with these guys on the internet. What an awesome hour of listening
Definitely one of the Thom and Jonny interviews of all time.
Don't know what you're talking about. Thom and Jonny spoke about 2 minutes in total, out of an hour
@@galetinm hey that’s still two more minutes than we usually get to hear these guys talk
What a beautiful way to discover a podcast! Thank you so much for this, could really feel the fanboyism in the best way possible
Great episode everyone! Honestly Decks Dark is my favorite track off AMSP
Congratulations to the Smartless Crew. What a dream come true!!
Amazing!!!! Thank you!!
This was awesome! Thanks guys.
Really would love these to have video for every episodes, love the little clips!
Such an awesome podcast. I am truly grateful for this.🎉🎉🎉🎉
How did i not hear about this podcast?? All star hosts, and now Radiohead? Geez, my heart can't take much more guys
I can’t explain to you how fucking cool it is that Michael and Gob are geeking out over Radiohead
Beautiful interview! Just found out about this podcast, and in the greatest way possible. Love every single one of you guys, keep it going!
PS: I frickin' loved the outro song! Good work!
Agreed! My love of Radiohead/The Smile lead me here. New fan of Smartless! Great work, Jason, Sean & Will.
How to disappear completely is one of the most important songs in the soundtrack of my life. Great conversation ❤
I remember when KID A came out with no lyrics on the artwork. They left it open to interpretation and even online websites had it wrong. Thin was singing through an egg carton on the title track!
Wicked ! How did you get an interview ?
You met the easiest people to love and the hardest people to meet !
Whoooooo!!!!
Well done -
You met radiohead -
I’m stoked for you dude !
“Meeting people is easy “
Creep, came out on the radio too songs summer 1991? I learned I had a voice, on the prairies of Illinois - as I spent a month of that summer with my grandmother.
I love Radiohead ! I feel absolutely the same, radiohead rocks the planet !- to present , the soundtracks of my lifetime.
You all are pretty amazing people
Thanks for sharing
C
Thom Yorke!!! Johnny Greenwood!! Jason Bateman! Will Arnett! And the other 2 guys!👬 The Magnitude! Worlds are colliding! George is getting upset! 😡
Omg the Radiohead version of the intro song 😂😂😂 Perfection 🎯🎯🎯
Sean asking them about Creep which they are so sick of playing LOL
Colbert has interviewed Thom a few times and is always thoughtful, letting Thom talk at length.
I like the song at the end!
I was taking a sleep study, in 2010. I had a dream that Radiohead was playing a somewhat extreme metal song. It sounded so good.
I love how Jason Bateman has always loved Radiohead , I’ve been there with you since the bends and pablo honey and in actuality zock computer and the kid a and amnesiac👌and the of course in rainbows and moon shaped pool and everything else
Some reason when I listen to Fake Plastic Trees, I always substitute the part where he says "rubber plans" as Robert Plant I know it doesn't make sense, i don't know it makes me laugh.
Are you kidding me!!! I saw these two names and lost my shit!!! Raaaaaddddddiiiooooheeeeaaaaddddd
Favorite band ever! (but I also adore REM)
That Bowie song is one of my favorits too ♥️♥️♥️
What a jolly boring thing to do.....
That was pretty cool.
Lovely jingle
Fantastic
I´ve never heard of this podcast but the detest and excerbation between Jason and Will is entertaining. I´m a Englishmen who´s a fan of Radiohead...... They´re weird for us Brits too.....
7:32, “then there are other ones, like the one we released last week, You Will Never Work In Television Again was….”
then Jason and Will interrupt, and we never find out what Thom was going to say about the construction of that track. 🙄🤦🏻♂️ Guys. C’mon. HOW do you talk over getting the answer to the question you asked?
I enjoyed the podcast for the most part but christ man. You interrupt an answer, then ask a question that anyone who’s even dabbled in composition would know is an impossible, irrelevant question “so tell me about the first song you ever wrote.” Jason if you get Thom on again just do the interview yourself.
never got to hear what Thom and Jonny’s go to album was for this very reason…….
Because they fan girl on them. It’s beautiful to me. And funny.
@@brettbartletti7847 see, that’s why I let my more socially apt friends lead the conversation when I come face to face with people like Thom or Johnny, cause as a musician myself, getting fan girled over is deeply flattering, but it also kinda kills any potential discourse, cause there’s isn’t really anywhere to go conversationally from that.
I learned to save fan girling for the end of the conversation. If you ever meet someone who means more than you can express, talk to them like they’re just a person first, then at the end you can say how much they mean to you. Doing it the other way around …. I’ve had this experience with punk rock dudes, hip hop guys, indie rockers, authors, film makers, on all different levels of fame and acclaim, and going from fan girling to engaging in a conversation is effing IMPOSSIBLE. 9 times out of 10 anyways.
(Also, they weren’t fan girling in the instance I mentioned, they were using it as a jumping board for making jokes, namely about Sean, cutting Thom’s explanation short).
Am watching The Leftovers now because of Thom Yorke - and it’s f**king awesome. 😂
(Ozark was cool, too!)
'Prussian blue' - thom yorke;; lol
Is there any other artist that comes close to Radiohead? Only ones I can think of are Bjork and Aphex Twin. Please someone!
Black Midi is the first band in decades, maybe ever, that hits as hard creatively and sonically as Radiohead. First listen, they sounded like noise, but my mind insisted there was something there. Now, they just sound great. Listen to their two studio albums until that click happens for you, then watch their First Unitarian Church show from 2019 and Live from KEXP performance from 2021. KEXP is on From the Basement level. Cheers.

This guy tends a lot heavier than, well, anybody, but he's been my favorite musician for over 20 years now. His music has more depth and layers than anything I've ever gotten into. Highly recommend you or anybody that appreciates genius music to dig into his discography

animal collective, can, bowie, eno, miles davis, women, bncr, king krule, deerhunter, iceage, squid, black midi, beach house, joanna newsom, destroyer, modest mouse, dirty projectors, wire, death grips, the voidz, dismemberment plan, jim o'rourke, flying lotus, polvo
great projects and artists with impeccable discographies worth checking out.
Hate to state the obvious here, but Bowie?
I world say that the first question, even being what all of us want to know, that first question fucked you up for the first 30 minutes!
41:39 baby strapped in back seat; a good memory…
Jonny: "What did he ask again....?"
Hold your ears! RADIOHEAD WHHHHHHHAAAAAAAHHHHHHTTTTT!!!!! Best get ever! Best band ever to grace the earth. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥shut it down now, you’ll never have a better guest(s) again shut it down done Smartless, done!
I’m assuming the fan bootleg was arpeggi?
sean asked the adam eget question
Where do you guys get your ideas from?
FUCKIN NO WAY
Bon appetit indeed!
How the fuck did this podcast get Radiohead?
The ads were just as entertaining.
Ozark made great use of Radiohead
Woah!
Subtitulen esto al españoool, es de vida o muerte :'c
Y’all can’t afford cameras?
Phew, for a minute there, Jason lost himself
thom is the goat 🐐
Now interview Morrissey.
18:48 to 24:24 Longest commercial I've ever heard. Makes me happy not to be an American
42:06 to 47:43 Nevermind...
Thank you for letting us know about the commercials.
Good stuff, but let them answer the questions before you ask more!
👍
Constant interruption
I wish they would shut up and let Thom and Jonny speak. Geez.
I understand, but Jason is meeting his musical heroes! Mine as well. He’s probably very nervous and obviously fan girling. It’s funny.
this ep gives me a fake plastic creep oh come on!
creeps
Shut up Will! You talk way too much - we wanna hear the guests, Thom and Jonny!
The sponsor break and will made this half cringe . Unfortunate…
Well they are absolutely dire hosts. Talking inane drivel and not letting the guests speak. Will Arnott is particularly annoying. Big no from me.
