Jason Batemans stock just went through the roof with me, I have been obsessed with Radiohead for over 25 yrs and sounds like he is pretty obsessed as well. Radiohead in Ozark makes so much sense to me now and it worked perfectly in the scenes.
I can’t believe the frontman, thom yorke and guitarist jonny greenwood from my favorite band, radiohead did an interview with the person who voices bojack horseman, will arnett, from my favorite show, bojack horseman.
Enjoy 8 minutes of airline commercials, and the remaining 58 out of 66 minutes where Will Arnett asks a question, then attempts to answer his own question in 17 different ways, then allows 6 seconds for the actual answer from the person he’s asking the question to, which he interrupts in 2 second increments.
52:53 Dude.... They weren't satisfied with how Decks Dark was recorded?? It's literally one of the best Radiohead songs in terms of mixing, mastering and arranging.
Now I'm gonna be disappointed if Radiohead doesn't show up one last time at the final season of Ozark. Jason struggling not to fangirl too much is cute and relatable lmao
radiohead changed my life and i was already deep into film and music but at the time i loved film more but now i really don't know. thom yorke is big inspiration of mine.
This was probably the best & well asked question I’ve ever heard in a TY interview and they completely fumble fu*ked it up right as Johnny was about to respond.
At Bonnaroo 2012, Thom Yorkes eye being zoomed in on 12 tv screens while he was playing piano is still the trippiest thing I've ever seen. Everyone in the audience thought it was CGI or like an animated eye, and then he just leans back and we realize he was right up against that camera while playing. I was dosed outta my mind at the time but I bet if you can find that clip it really was that crazy
Beautiful interview! Just found out about this podcast, and in the greatest way possible. Love every single one of you guys, keep it going! PS: I frickin' loved the outro song! Good work!
I remember when KID A came out with no lyrics on the artwork. They left it open to interpretation and even online websites had it wrong. Thin was singing through an egg carton on the title track!
I love how Jason Bateman has always loved Radiohead , I’ve been there with you since the bends and pablo honey and in actuality zock computer and the kid a and amnesiac👌and the of course in rainbows and moon shaped pool and everything else

7:32, “then there are other ones, like the one we released last week, You Will Never Work In Television Again was….” then Jason and Will interrupt, and we never find out what Thom was going to say about the construction of that track. 🙄🤦🏻♂️ Guys. C’mon. HOW do you talk over getting the answer to the question you asked? I enjoyed the podcast for the most part but christ man. You interrupt an answer, then ask a question that anyone who’s even dabbled in composition would know is an impossible, irrelevant question “so tell me about the first song you ever wrote.” Jason if you get Thom on again just do the interview yourself.
@@brettbartletti7847 see, that’s why I let my more socially apt friends lead the conversation when I come face to face with people like Thom or Johnny, cause as a musician myself, getting fan girled over is deeply flattering, but it also kinda kills any potential discourse, cause there’s isn’t really anywhere to go conversationally from that. I learned to save fan girling for the end of the conversation. If you ever meet someone who means more than you can express, talk to them like they’re just a person first, then at the end you can say how much they mean to you. Doing it the other way around …. I’ve had this experience with punk rock dudes, hip hop guys, indie rockers, authors, film makers, on all different levels of fame and acclaim, and going from fan girling to engaging in a conversation is effing IMPOSSIBLE. 9 times out of 10 anyways. (Also, they weren’t fan girling in the instance I mentioned, they were using it as a jumping board for making jokes, namely about Sean, cutting Thom’s explanation short).
Black Midi is the first band in decades, maybe ever, that hits as hard creatively and sonically as Radiohead. First listen, they sounded like noise, but my mind insisted there was something there. Now, they just sound great. Listen to their two studio albums until that click happens for you, then watch their First Unitarian Church show from 2019 and Live from KEXP performance from 2021. KEXP is on From the Basement level. Cheers.
This guy tends a lot heavier than, well, anybody, but he's been my favorite musician for over 20 years now. His music has more depth and layers than anything I've ever gotten into. Highly recommend you or anybody that appreciates genius music to dig into his discography ruclips.net/video/1oJEBGHCdBQ/видео.html
Some reason when I listen to Fake Plastic Trees, I always substitute the part where he says "rubber plans" as Robert Plant I know it doesn't make sense, i don't know it makes me laugh.
I´ve never heard of this podcast but the detest and excerbation between Jason and Will is entertaining. I´m a Englishmen who´s a fan of Radiohead...... They´re weird for us Brits too.....

Is Radiohead in more than two scenes? I know of "Decks Dark" and "The Daily Mail," and I went searching for Season 4 Radiohead but can't find any.
Oui
@@theradioactivepatientas in Ozark, only those 2 scenes
“I literally listen to Beethoven, Mozart, and Radiohead, and that’s it.” -Jason Bateman. Hahahahaha. Fan girling.

I get Jason was excited but let them answer the question. I want to hear Jonny and Thom!!
Yeah. Terrible interview. I had to quit cuz I was getting angry. "I did lots of investigation on wikipedia..." Jeez.

This is one of the best and only interviews with these guys on the internet. What an awesome hour of listening
Definitely one of the Thom and Jonny interviews of all time.
Don't know what you're talking about. Thom and Jonny spoke about 2 minutes in total, out of an hour

What a beautiful way to discover a podcast! Thank you so much for this, could really feel the fanboyism in the best way possible
Great episode everyone! Honestly Decks Dark is my favorite track off AMSP
Oh my god! I love smartless and radiohead so much! Even my mother who is almost 50 years old loves radiohead AND smartless! This collab is amazing!!!
Well the guys in Radiohead are around 50 now…
😅 Your mom was probably a Radiohead fan from the start. She's around their age

Saw them on that tour around that time and remember that! Went with my younger brother still my favorite concert I’ve seen.

Colbert has interviewed Thom a few times and is always thoughtful, letting Thom talk at length.
I was taking a sleep study, in 2010. I had a dream that Radiohead was playing a somewhat extreme metal song. It sounded so good.
Omg the Radiohead version of the intro song 😂😂😂 Perfection 🎯🎯🎯
