- This is just a quick mid holiday season update on the refitting of Alumina and the nightmare fuel tank leak on my flats boat. I am also asking for a bit of help finding a place to work on the fuel tank.

Alumina progress looks good. Wish I knew a shop that could help with the tank. I'd have your next tank epoxy coated on the outside.
Thanks 👍
Old boat, old tank, best thing to do is either remove the tank, clean out the bilge, coat the bilge, replace the old tank with one that will fit and suits the size you need,or pull out the old tank, clean bilge and coat it,put center console back and use an external tank, with that said it cannot be to large of a tank because it will not be in the center of gravity like the old tank,if you going to replace the inboard tank replace all the hoses and whatever connections you have on it,should out last you.
I'll be ordering a new tank soon...
Put it on the water make sure you have lots of insurance on it and add a bit of spark problem solved
Sorry Bud I know of a yard that will do that, it is however in the UK. Merry Christmas, love the content.
Merry Christmas
Could you perhaps just empty the tank leave it there and run your boat on an external 25 litre tank. You could perhaps fit one in one of storage areas at the back of the boat vs such a huge expense. Enjoy your channel greetings Pierre
Possibly!
Marry Christmas & happy holiday to you & your family bro...greeting from Borneo Island Malaysia..
Borneo wow! Have great holiday season
Satilla Marine in Waycross GA might be able to help. They've done killer work for me in the past
Thank s
I wish I could help, my friend. My only boat, other than a canoe, was an old metal jon boat with a plastic tank. Best wishes for the repairs and Merry Christmas!
Have a happy holiday.
Look into a fuel bladder? There's a product called sealall that's meant for fuel tanks. Good luck, if l was there I'd help you but Ontario Canada is a bit of a poke. Eh!
I'm on the down hill stretch putting the boat back together.
@@EngineeredAngler l hope it starts to go smoothly. I've built a couple of boats and made a few mistakes.
Metal tanks always give problems from leaks to condensation as well as collecting dirt in fuel ...drain the tank wash it and foam fill it then install the correct un plastic tanks with plastic picups
Instead of lamenting ply for hatches and decks try use fiberglass sheets its way lighter more durable and does not rot
I was considering the laminated foam sheet option...it just seem like the best option...but a lot more work and time. And this time of year getting resin so set is difficult.
Merry Christmas Franko. I hope you find a practical solution for replacing that fuel tank. Blessings to you and yours.
I hope so too...merry Christmas
Legend with all the data and information you share! Happy holidays sir 🎉
Marry Christmas and happy new year to you and your family. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us. Hope you can figure out something with your boat.
Thank you! You too!
Also a lure making challenge for you that I think is too much to Crack . Is to make a better jerkbait/ crankbait for fishing form the piers & overpasses . Like gulf state park pier, Panama city pier and exa.
Sorry I can't help you I live north alabama enjoy your lure making videos hope you and your family has a great holiday
Merry Christmas!
Same to you!
I'm not sure i would use that old tank anymore and probably wouldn't disconnect all the wiring. Just clean it out and try hook up another tank some way.
Did you actually find the leak? Every time I've heard of a situation like this it turned out to be a fitting on the tank, and not the tank itself. Maybe it doesn't need to be pulled. Maybe an auto mechanic shop has a way to test it to find the leak?
This. I would definitely leak test it with some green dye
What if you cut out the top of the tank leave sides and bottom an install a poly gas tank inside the old tank.
That is plan B
Find a mobile truck service truck with a engine hoist crane. They cane pop that off there
Hi love your videos .. just quick question if you don't mind do you after lightly sand the minswax mid coat for the epoxy to key too .our is it ok to put it on without sanding .. I know it's random because it's not related to this video but it's your latest upload.. many thanks from Tim from the uk .. ps keep up the good work
Tim , thanks for the question.
No need to sand the minwax...just let it dry for an hour or more.
@@EngineeredAngler thanks so much appreciated
Is there any benefit, in leaving the tank there, HOWEVER, cut the top of it off, leaving just a box where you could then insert a plastic tank, and use the rest for long term storage. You would obviously need to make your console easy to open, and pivot back and stay like an engine hood? I’m only going by what I can see from the video. Perhaps I do not see it properly.
Cutting the top out is plan B
Tough break with the fuel tank. I can’t offer any info as I have always had above deck portable tanks. Hope you can get it worked out. Merry Christmas……
Fingers crossed!
Like to see a Rebel pop-r sized up to 135mm for beach fishing
Thanks for the suggestion.
Joe Cocker wrote a song about times like these
TINY BOAT NATION I have seen a RUclips george bass have a boat rebuild
There is a boat yard in Perry Fl. I cant remembered the name.
I look...thanks
세제통으로 루어 가능 한가요?❤😊
I don't have any places for you but i have an idea. There is youtube channel called "Born Again Boating" that does this job all the time in South Florida. You might reach out to him and see if he has any compadres in your area. Just my feeble 2 cents. Merry Christmas!
Thank you
Check all your gas lises first before pulling tank
Yup already checked everything with in reach
@EngineeredAngler, Maybe hook an airhose from compressor and see if you hear the leak to narrow it down. I had same issue and it turned out to be a fuel line that got a hole worn in it.
Might be better to cut your losses and sell the boat for parts, and buy a new one or a better used one.
Got a tank on it's way.
❤❤❤❤❤ 와이어벤딩기 안팔아요 😭😭😭😭😭
Thought this was a lure making channel so why be gone for 3 weeks then when you return we get one of the shortest video not about building lures but fixing a boat
I think if you don’t have a video of lure building then don’t post your boat project just so you can get people to watch to get more money from you tube
The man shares his techniques with all of us, and now he needs some help. Don't be a douche.
lol. OK Karen.
Bro your sense of sensitivity and lack of support shows. Just be part of the solution not the problem 💩 head.
Karen much?
You are correct. This is a lure making channel, and one of the best on RUclips! I have learned a great deal watching content on this channel. The boat Franko is attempting to fix and is asking about for help, is indeed one of the vehicles with which he tests his lures, and is quite relevant to the lure making process and the videos he posts for our benefit.
The time off from RUclips was more than earned, and well deserved! Any help Franko can get in return is the least we can do for him. And if Franko get money from RUclips, it didn't cost any of us, and with the time, effort, and materials he invests in this channel he should reap some reward. Thank you for the comment that helps this channel grow!
