Hyundai 4.6 Genesis is a awesome sedan, I have read on some forum's online people have been getting well over 250,000 miles, just doing routine maintenance. Highly reliable better then a 5 series bmw or a Mercedes E class.

@@MrT-nh6di I have a 2013 rspec sedan. 111000 miles original brakes. BUT the alternator, starter and water pump all died in the last year. I replaced the plugs myself and do the oil every 4-5kmiles Car drives like a beast but I am annoyed about the recent issues.
Great video! Im looking into getting one real soon, how is the reliability on the car over all? Do repairs add up or is it overall a good car? I see a lot for sale around 100kmiles but some people seem to not worry about that at all.
I have had zero issues with it so far. I have about 90k miles on it. I know people get scared when mileage gets higher, but I'm not worried about it, especially where I take good care of it. Thanks for watching!
I just bought one with 138K miles. Compared to my Maxima, it doesn't handle as well, but it's also not meant to be a corner-carver. Also, it lacks a heated steering wheel, power folding mirrors, and bi-xenon headlights, which are interesting omissions for a car that's 5 years newer and cost $8-12K more than my Maxima did brand new. The only issue I'm having is the steering wheel position switch is finicky. The tilt works intermittently and you have to play with it for a minute to get it to work again if the wheel gets stuck in a bad position. The telescoping function doesn't work at all. I've heard it's either just a switch replacement, an entire control module, or the whole steering column. Again, my Maxima is a 2004 with double the miles and my power tilt/telescoping (and the memory function that goes along with that) still works. Not trying to nitpick.. I do really like the car and was even averaging 28mpg on a long drive.
Exactly My point. The issue with these cars is not the engine or brand. The issue is just small quality and reliability issues here and there, example would be the Telescopic function of the steering wheel, I have had issues with my screen and audio system just freeze up not allowing me to press the Ok to change. Issues with the leather getting prematurely cracking. Issue with the fuel latch not functioning. Remote trunk unlocking taking a few clicks unlock. Just fit and finish issues. To me the basis of this is lack of R&d. I have an older Infiniti m35 an 2006 model and it much more loaded with technology and has better material and built quality then this. I also own a MB W212 e class it's a 2015 and the Quality and engineering is selfevident. My 2009 Genesis V8 in comparison is more like a cup copy and past execution of an essay from 3 different poeple.
Did that aftermarket air cleaner make any noticeable difference in sound, performance, or mileage? By the way, I've also been considering removing the shrouding below the engine on my 2011 4.6. I've left it on up to this point primarily because the power train was still covered by Hyundai's 10 year warranty, but the warranty just expired and removing that shroud permanently would make oil changes a lot simpler. With all the complaints I've read from Genesis owners about their frustration with having to deal with that shrouding when changing oil, I'm surprised that hardly any of them have mentioned permanently removing it.
The filter socket is actually listed as 27mm. 1 1/16 interchanges with the 27mm filter nut and 11/16 will also usually work on 17mm fittings, although the fit might be a little loose.
