can’t help but think the fractured elbow injury to Sjoestroem made her a faster swimmer. gave her time she wouldn’t of normally had to focus solely on building strength in her legs. Since returning from the injury she’s broken her own word record in the 50m freestyle - love to know your thoughts on the importance of kick & is that an area of focus cate can improve on?
3:53 Cate has always had a slow reaction time, but it doesn’t really hurt her to 15m. I believe she has had issues with her neck since she was a teenager, before Tokyo she struggled to dive at all and always has to work on it.
God she looks so strong in the water. Even a tempo that's .02 faster per stroke is going to give her a half a second. Always easier said than done though, I've been there before.
Nothing arguable about GOAT status for Sjoestroem anymore! We have been enormously privileged to see Cate and Sarah race as long as we have. Great breakdown.
I’ve seen posts by Cate that indicate that her back gives her a good amount of pain, and she works very hard on core, very hard on recovery of all her muscles after races and race pace sets. She appears to be very powerful and may be in the midst of a very fatiguing training block. Plus she’s been off the competition circuit more recently than Sarah. Let’s see how they do, both of them incredible young women pushing extremely hard in demanding events.
Maybe Cate is just setting up for Paris, for 100m. Then it can be wise to use that length and strokerate. Of course it is possible to be some better, but I do think Sarah is the strongest in 50's. So maybe wise to focus on the 100m mainly. Great swimming anyway 🔥👊
What you both said plus power training. I'm a massive Cate fan, and in absolute awe of Sarah as her physique (And subsequently her performance) as a woman is what I imagine a shield maiden to have been like. I think that Sarah is more powerful, Cate is more efficient. There is almost an 8kg weight difference between the two in Sarah's favour and cate is 5cm taller. Cate could also massivly benefit taking a page out of McEvoys book, hit the specific exercises and resisted swim training to work on the power/specific strength aspect plus your tempo increase, hypoxia and reaction time.. I think that it would take her to a new level and she could do fresh lifetime PBs. Needed for next year! Maybe her and Cam could train together. Carrot and hare style, that's how my wife and I do sprints. 😂
Cate only does PBs in minor competitions; never in important meets. The technique and the physical advantages are important, but I don't think she has the same competitive spirit as Sarah or her sister for that matter.

Sarah is always a guarantee to swim fast
She makes sure in her prep and execution. A true professional and great example of a champ.
Sarah is the goat, shes my favourite swimmer😍
As a young coach just starting out these insights from the best coaches are invaluable, please make more videos like this.

We need more of these kinda of video. You two give great feed back. 100 more videos should do it
I really like what you're doing guys. I'm learning a lot from both of you. Don't know how to swim but I'm a swimming fanatic. 😊
Awesome! Thank you!

you are right Cate has to improve her reaction time as well as her tempo I think she going more for length that is why she was not able to get it
This is great content
The coach said dont take a breath..:-)

Sarah is definitely the greatest sprinter in history
LCM is a hard breath to hold from standing on the block.
Foster lost 2001 50m taking 2 breaths in the last 15m
