One trick I use when I or my friends are overheating is to cool specific points for rapid relief. Anywhere you can take a pulse is a good spot to cool because of the shallow depth to reach arterial blood cooling more of the body in the process.
I have a black longcoat I wear for a plague doctor outfit and all my events are outside between May and July. Everyone's first question is aren't I hot? Yes, but the coat is twill and very breathable to the point I can feel the wind through it.
@@MeekaChannel also the sheer number of bottles and vials I have on my person makes water a non issue, and straws can be used through the holes in the bottom of my mask, so I don't have to remove it at any point. The hat is good shade too, and have zero skin exposure means i don't need sunblock. Lol
Spicy food helps! If you notice, cultures from hot climates tend to eat spicy food, not just heat spice but like cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, etc. The reason for that is it helps you to tolerate hot temps better. If you're not a spice person, you can take a cayenne supplement and a cinnamon supplement to help, but it's important to do year round not just on festival days.
I'm a foodie and I've done lots of research on regional foods and why they're eaten where they're a popular food. Plus my dad was a train conductor for 30 years and he had a triple pepper blend and hot sauce on his food daily and noticed after he added those things to his daily diet he could tolerate the heat next to the fire better. I was intrigued and researched it further and learned a ton!
I am on a medication that makes me sun sensitive so I am *definitely* looking into getting a parasol. And I have a ton of folding fans. We'll look for you at ORF! Going for fantasy weekend.
PSA: water doesn't need to be cold and may actually hurt if it's cold. It always makes my stomach clench from the difference in temp. "Cool" water is tons better IMHO.
A wet rag ran over your pulse points also helps cool down nicely. I also will cool down my chainmaile jewelry with cold water or freeze it to help cool down. I also wear saddles at the faire but I use good hiking ones.
a suggestion, cold therapy packs that are gel based and can be pretty thin would also be a good investment. just be sure to have a few in a ice chest at the fest so you can swap out when you need to. I've seen ankle ones that could probably hide fairly well inside full boots.
Linen is your friend. My doublet and breaches are linen and breath really well. My fey wizard hood is linen and based on Scythian caps, it's super cooling when wet. Plus it shades my face and protects my neck.
Thank you! I was actually gonna start editing a video that recorded months ago. I’ll make an update video when I can. But my recording space is gone now, all packed away. Trying to move into a new place.
staying cool is hard in hot and humid Pittsburgh, Pa ren fair, my friend went with her teen daughter on a hot day and she fainted, the medics came over and helped her to the medic tent, long story short she drank some cold gatorade and rested for 30 min, then felt better and they let her leave. I always try pick a weekend when its cooler.
Something for keeping your feet from producing sweat is get socks that are partial wool, I have some from the brand Darn tough and they help while at faire all day also use them in leather steal toe boots all day and no sweat. Maybe try a hiking sock from them since you're on alot of gravel at faire
Porta-John story is so important. While overseas I actually had to take a soldier to the medics cuz he sat down on a plastic seat in 120° heat, and got partial thickness burns on his butt. You can use a baby wipe to clean the seat, and cool the seat. Just don't toss them in the Porta-John, throw them away in trash.
@@MeekaChannel they don't break down like toilet paper. It's the same sort of issues you get with putting them down the toilet. But instead of clogging a pipe in the ground, you can clog a pipe on the truck. Can get...messy. Best just to toss in trash and avoid possible issues, especially if you are using a staff only one.

That’s good!

Interesting! That’s my first time learning about that!

I swear by hand fans! An absolute must for me. That alongside pressing my ice-filled pewter mug to my chest/neck when it's a little too hot.

Hope to see you there!
LOVE YOU MEEKA 💚💚💚
LOVE YOU TOO!!! 🥰
