Feel bad that quality contents like this dont get enough support compared to other contents na puro prank and toxicity lang. Kudos to these two powerful women ❤
Oh God Nicole and Cat, what a very timely topic to discuss! By the way I am a migrant who moved to New Zealand a few years back. At first, everyone was saying New Zealand is so laidback and I did not understand it at first until I fully immersed myself in the culture and everything. There are a few things I realised (same as Cat’s story when she first moved to the PH from Aussie): These people from the 1st world countries prioritise education, or at least having a stable career and then buying their first home. They’re not a big fan of luxury items. Why? I think it’s because wala din dito yung culture na amazed sila sayo when you’re wearing a branded item. To make it clearer, what you’re wearing or carrying is none of their business. If there’s anything they save up for leisure is only when they want to go away and travel just to have a new environment away from work which is very healthy for the mind too. Kaya ako ever since, naging fan na ako ng quiet luxury. I buy stuff not because of the brand and logo but for the materials used to make those things. Not that I don’t own branded stuff naman but I learned to get the most “quiet” ones. Like, no to very minimal logos only. And I try to be mindful when buying these things because as much as consumerism wants us to think they are “investments” when in fact they’re not because they will never generate income anyway, but at least you know it will last a long time. And this is something that A LOT of Filipinos do not know. A lot of our kababayans invest on the facade but broke in the inside. And mind you, even some of our kababayans abroad. I think very weird and romanticised talaga yung definition ng mga Pinoy sa salitang “rich”. Probably malaking factor din ang cultivation theory or yung mga napapanood nating dramas on TV, and now vlogs. Oh I can go on and on. I love you two! Such women of substance! ❤ Kia Ora from NZ! 🫶🏽
Love this comment!!!! 🙌 Same here in Europe…dito din ang priority is education, living alone at 18yrs old, buy a house and car, and if holidays talaga they prefer to travel as much as they do…🫶 they don’t even care sa mga luxury na yan. If you have means why not pero to go broke just to show off??? Only Filipinos. Hindi ko maiwasan mag compare ng lifestyle dito at sa Pinas…
At 10:50 into the vid I realized that your standard of happiness has to be practical as well. It has to change, it has to evolve so there's no pressure in subscribing to luxurious consumerism. Like Cat said what she really cared for are things like paying her rent etc., Soooo enlightening.
As a student at a prestigious school where many students use luxury bags as their everyday "pamasok" bags, I once bought a mid-tier luxury tote just to feel like I belonged in that environment. However, after watching your vlog, Ms. Cat and Ms. Nicole, I realized that happiness isn’t defined by owning luxury bags, and that fitting in isn’t about the brand you carry. Thank you so much for this eye-opening vlog. While I do have a small collection of luxury bags, I see them not as items to simply store away, but as investments that I can use for years to come-so I don’t feel the need to buy a new one every year. Thank you and I love you both! 🤍
This boost my self-esteem. Like, everyone surrounding me are buying boujee new iphones, branded clothes and all that.. and I'm like, "hey, it's okay to be outdated" hahahaha "I'll be able to buy those when I have extra-extra, for now, let's work on the needs!" 😅
love the insights girls. love the question “ if this never made it to social media would i still want to purchase this item” i think a lot of people relate on this. Ang hirap din i practice ng sustainability now lalo fast fashion is big ngayon and ang bilis ma FOMO ng tao.
@Catriona Gray is such a beautiful, highly intelligent and emotionally attuned human being. She shows so much empathy and never comes across being on an Ivory tower even if she has all the reasons in the world to be there, and be all-knowing. Stay being you!
I'm so happy I've watched this, for all my life i thought I'm the only one with this kind of mindset. Thank you Cat and Nicole, I feel valid after this podcast.
I feel so seen!! I'm surrounded with (great) friends who are into branded items. I just don't get the hype of it all. Before I felt pressured pa to buy as well, but as I got older, hindi na and nobody judges me naman about the stuff I own. It's more self-inflicted pressure lang pala. It's really important to have a firm sense of identity coz if you do, you won't be swayed into making decisions na you are not genuinely happy talaga. Thanks Nics and Cat. Love you two!
I love this discussion!!! It’s really very hard to un-learn not to lust over luxury items when I grew up hearing how important wearing brands are. I’m 33 and while it’s shocking to me how a lot of the younger generation can afford luxury items before even getting a proper job, I still share the same motivations (sometimes without being aware of it), albeit the fact that I am more mindful with where my money goes. It’s a very complicated subject and would be good to explore how you guys can tackle and break this down even further. Love you, you smart and beautiful women! ❤
It was so nice that this is being talked about!!! I am in a comfortable financial position and there was this financial milestone that I wanted to achieve before I bought this luxury bag at the 6-digit price point. It was a bag that I'd been eyeing for a loooong time. However, now that I am going to buy it, I hesitate and change my priorities because I realize that maybe I just like that bag because everyone else has it. So I also asked myself do I really like it that much? I ended up changing my plans to instead of getting that bag, I'm now going to treat my family to an all-expense international trip. BUT I will also be getting this luxury EDP that I've been eyeing for months just to get something for myself, but the price point is more practical. Thanks, Nicole & Cat!! 💗
I just started watching and listening to this podcast kahapon and now i can't live without this girls❤ mapapaisip ka talaga and magkakaroon ng realizations❤️
Kudos to these two! Great job! They complement each other well without overshadowing one another. Thank you for sharing your insights on luxury items and excessive consumerism. I hope you continue to run this channel as you have already inspired many people.
I would love to hear about the Filipino brands that you support in your wardrobe and what draws you to them. Your segment for Preview inspired me to do more research into Filipino brands.
Same, Cat's 2018 MU stint actually inspired me to look more into Filipino brands. I even ended up buying an expensive piece that Cat wore in Thailand during MU which was this beautiful brown rattan Sampaguita bag from the brand Calli bags, Filipino hand-crafted and very high quality. Cat really showcases Philippines and Filipino artisans in all that she does and deservingly exposes them to a larger audience, she is a true Filipina
@@patriciaa65 Yes it was sold out when I kept checking too but I was desperate haha so I DM'd them on Insta because it wasn't back on stock for ages and told them I really wanted one and was willing to wait so they made one specifically for me took a few weeks I think and they messaged me when it was ready, they were really lovely and the bag is so beautiful I used it a lot when I went home to Pinas last year
I know myself, no matter how pretty and expensive "something" is...if I get tired of it, it will just sit on a shelf collecting dust. And my excitement towards something "materialistic" tends to die down after a few days or weeks. So maybe this is why (even if I can afford) I was never really lured into anything luxury. You may have heard it told many times and might already sound a cliche but there are far more things in the world that can give you the same or higher level of satisfaction that won't break the bank. We really just have to look closer and deeper to appreciate these little things around us. Cheers to our non pretentious queens! There really is something that sets you ladies apart from others, WE VALUE YOUR AUTHENTICITY here so much!
Love the insight girls!! I’m at the stage of contentment and prioritizing more the needs of my family rather than buying luxury items which only satisfy my needs but not my family that can benefit to it. Instead of buying luxury items, I would rather use that money to travel with my family which we can share the great memories. When I suffered heart attack, my life’s perspective changed a lot . Wonderful Memories vs Self satisfaction that’s my mantra.
I bought my first luxury item when I was 30, after I've invested in properties, like lots, a condo unit, insurance for myself and savings. I only bought second hand because I'm prioritizing my travels, but it's great to know that even ambassadors like you are thrifty when it comes to these purchases! :D
I found my tribe in both of you. I share the same thoughts and sentiments on luxury spending. It's such a breath of fresh air to know 2 well-established individuals with this kind of mentality. This video needs to be watched by everyone, especially the youth nowadays.
Unfortunately though majority of the youngsters in the Philippines today would prefer to watch non sense vlogs that will keep them more uneducated. It’s quite alarming tbh.
If it's more about fleeting trends or external validation, the worthiness might be more questionable in the long run. Ultimately, it’s about finding the balance between personal satisfaction, sustainability, and whether the purchase aligns with your broader goals or life philosophy. Would you say you're leaning toward finding more value in quality over status?
i love this episode coming from a 32 yr old whose too broke to afford a luxury anything and being still manipulated by social media that i need one. Thanks Cat and Nicole for the sampal sa realidad episode 😅
This is another one of a kind episode 👏 I appreciate you both deciding it to be a topic to discuss. So much wisdom ❤ also, can you share naman po like po about how you take care of health/fitness mga ganun. I'm trying to be healthy but would appreciate your insight and tips din. Thanks Cat and Nicole 🎉❤
I love this discussion! It helps me in the right perspective about buying stuff not necessarily luxury things but whatever I see online. Ilang beses na ako nabudol because of trends and impulse. Thank you for this podcast. Hope to see and learn more ❤
am a fashion and luxury consultant, love that they pointed out that luxury is different between countries, it's also cultural, and also consumerism; and also pull out, yeah that's a fashion term used here in the philippines; fashion brands do it, but its not just perspective, it's also the brand identity that comes with the fashion brand; also that # use we really need a luxury council in this country. then the bandwagon effect - yeah its a lot. hedonism too. owning things at the top, it has a different reason. there are benefits you get from getting these luxury goods, it's not just owning the thing, but also the emotional benefit and expressive benefit you get from buying that product; the 1 and 2% are very different in their reasons for purchasing.
Sobrang eye opening to na di lahat ng clebrities are so into luxuries, personally mas pref ko lagi mga local brands at di pricy items kase mas tumatagl sila idk it happens to me a lot and i cherish them minsan nagtataka sila kala nila mamahalin pero hindi po
Not skipping the ads for you, Queens! Let's make sure to support them, guys! 🙌 I absolutely loved this episode-it hit home for me. I'm such a big spender and super easily influenced, especially by TikTok! 😅 Not on luxury brands, but those blind boxes-OMG, they’re so addicting! Hahaha. But honestly, I’m learning to control it now, thanks to my frugal partner (we’re total opposites). This episode really motivated me to be more mindful when it comes to spending, especially on wants vs. needs. I’m so inspired by you two, and I’m committing to adopt the same mindset moving forward. Thank you for being such an inspiration, Queens! 💖✨
You 2 lovely, wise ladies!❤ This episode has deeply touched my heart, sobrang nakakarelate ako❤ changing my unhealthy purchasing habits is a one-day-at-time thing, sobrang hirap! But hearing you ladies talking about this topic is inspiring, thanks so much!❤❤ On a side note, your socks are too cuuuuuute!😍 may I know from where?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this, Cat & Nicole. I purchased my very first LV at 50 hahaha. Talk about milestone! ROI naman kasi ginagamit ko every single day yung item. Masarap yung feeling kasi para syang accomplishment. At last, nakabili ako ng ganitong item. Na-hook din ako sa secondhand luxury later on but mindful ako sa mga purchases ko and tina-try ko syang i-resell para makabili ako ng ibang items.
Love this episode!! I believe this is the first time this has been discussed by local celebs (and likely the last..but hopefully not). Looking forward to more videocasts with this kind of content👏🏽 just subscribed!!
So true! I belive your preferences can change ovetime. Haha. Tapos mamalengke lang eh isusuot ko pa yung alahas ko haha. Feel ko at that time, angat ako dahil sa mga suot kong alahas. That was in my early 30's. But when I matured and now that I'm already 40, believe me, hindi ko na masyado sinusuot alahas ko, bihirang bihira na lang at pag may nakita akong naka todo alahas like sa mall, natatawa na lang ako sa sarili ko kasi ganun din ako dati yung feeling ko na angat ako dahil wala silang mga ganyan at yung thinking na pag nakaalahas ka, alam nila na hindi ka naghihirap sa buhay. Now, I just want to sell everything. Haha 😅 I learned to live simple and be contented with what I have.
This is noteworthy! This podcast reminds me that buying luxury brands shouldn't be prioritized. Saving money is more significant because life is unpredictable, it is better if we have funds for emergencies and investments that grow their values over time.
New Subscriber here, dati Pa Glance lang ako nga vid nila. But this topic made me. To this topic i Love so much.. Im a Realist-Pragmatic sa mga bagay2. Able nmn mag buy ng Lux but not me.. Love this Ladies too. We need this kind of Topics.. to that Salamat.Blessing!
Great stuff! Yes, important obligations must come first e.g monthly amortisations, health maintenance, etc. I totally agree on mindfulness and intentional spending. Am not an influencer, so I work hard for all my luxury items. I only splurge to celebrate milestones. And I am selective on the items I splurge on. Classic bags, shoes jewelry, definitely yes. Logo screaming clothes ❌️❌️ for me. The wear and tear of designer clothes are just the same as regular brands. To me this is not a justifable purchase.
You know what? Since beauty queens are naturally intelligent, I'm hoping they can become even bigger influencers. Like, imagine if they could teach us valuable life lessons. It would be great if there could be a “beauty queen movement.” Haha. Most of them go through so much just to earn their title, but after the pageant, their advocacies sometimes don’t continue. Considering how huge beauty pageants are here, they already have a massive fanbase, especially during competitions. Just imagine a group of beauty queens - beautiful, smart, elegant - inspiring and influencing us to become better in life.
I am also a saver. I always consider my credit card as a debit card pero with more rewards and perks. My parents are very conservative when in comes to spending and saving. Kaya ganun din kami. Most of my luxury items were gifts from my parents. But, same with ate Nicole my first bag purchase was a Prada bag but never ko pang nagamit 😂
This is so true! When I went to Vietnam I was ready to buy a 40k Dior T-Shirt but when I felt the fabric, I was disappointed coz I could get a quality fabric in Uniqlo instead.
It really is very impractical (for me) to buy luxury products. I know I cant afford them but if I can, I still won't buy them. I will rather invest on something better like maybe a business. Anyway, good and interesting content, Cat and Nicole. Love listening to the both of you. Keep up the good work! 🤗🤗🤗🫶🫶🫶
Good topic to discuss. Having a luxury items is a good feeling to have and a status symbol. But for a Mom like me, I will invest, save the money for retirement and helping the future of my kids and future family to buy their house.
Thank you for this topic! I really felt it that most of the influencers now its either prank and unboxing are the contents. I don’t feel the sincerity of those anymore. Looking for more worth it to watch/listen.
In the context of non luxury items - for people who grew up deprived of a lot of things, credit card outstanding and utang is a good trade off for mental health + practical use vs paying "expensive" therapist coz not a lot of available competent counselors guidance from people around
Present! This is indeed an interesting topic given that a lot of influencers are consumed by this trend and tend to lose their authenticity just to prove a point. Also, it's hilarious seeing Nicole's face disappear 4:25 behind that ginormous mug! Haha You girls always rock!🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
I agree to be mindful. If I get tempted to buy my want but I feel it is not worth practical, I sleep on it muna. If the next day I still want it then I buy it.
Wow, I just listened to another insightful podcast episode filled with powerful statements! When it comes to luxury items, my perspective hasn’t changed. If I can’t see a way to earn money from it, I choose to pass. Also, if it's something that wouldn't make my Tatay proud, I won’t go for it either. And, of course, if it doesn’t bring me genuine joy, it's a no-go for me. Super insightful podcast!. Thank you Catriona Gray and Nicole Cordoves
Each person they have their own happiness, people they like to travel, they like to buy books, they love to eat in expensive restaurants , they love to buy luxury items, they like to pay business class , they like to keep their money in the banks 😂 Me myself I love everything, I love to invest in properties, I love to buy luxury goods because it makes me happy . I was only 28 years old when I was in the Philippines my first purchased is a condo is in Wackwack Green Hills. My first luxury watch is Gucci. When I buy luxury bags, jewelry, watches, clothes , I bought them because it’s make me happy, it’s an achievements for my self. At that time there is no influencers, pero I manifest it to buy what I want. But there’s no way for me to pay business class doon kuripot ako 😂 My husband likes luxury cars too so we’re both the same .There’s no right or wrong in buying luxury items. I am not person kapag uso buy rin no I’m not like that. I only buy if I love that bag and kung useful sya sakin. Now I’m thinking my retirement so I bought a pre selling condo in BGC the Uptown Parksuites and now is someone is renting now , so another investment too di ba. Yes correct ka dyan Miss Cat your not a branded person talaga but others are branded ganoon ka simple lang 😂😂😂
Filipinos deserve quality items that need not to be expensive. For example, our company sells premium botanical bath soaps that offer multi-benefits more than whitening at only 145php per bar. We just believe that Filipinos deserve access to quality items without breaking the bank.
Feel bad that quality contents like this dont get enough support compared to other contents na puro prank and toxicity lang. Kudos to these two powerful women ❤
That is why ang daming hindi wise in financial thing in PH
Yes, true. Mas gusto ko pang nanonood ng mga ganitong katulad ng sa kanila, kasi mas merong katuturan :)
quality is subjective
Hindi lahat ng tao nakikinig ng podcast. TBH boring sya

I heard someone say online “Do you want it or do you want someone to know you have it?”
This helps me stick to more practical purchases

Thank you so much for shedding light on this topic !!
This is a must eye opener podcast.. You two are awesome.. Love you both..❤❤❤
You 2 lovely, wise ladies!❤ This episode has deeply touched my heart, sobrang nakakarelate ako❤ changing my unhealthy purchasing habits is a one-day-at-time thing, sobrang hirap! But hearing you ladies talking about this topic is inspiring, thanks so much!❤❤ On a side note, your socks are too cuuuuuute!😍 may I know from where?
Lazada 😁 type googly eyes socks
Beautiful things without a label attached.
I looooove this episode!
More of these contents please! More wisdom for this generation. Great job po! God bless you both!
The influencers we deserve ❤
Love this episode!! I believe this is the first time this has been discussed by local celebs (and likely the last..but hopefully not). Looking forward to more videocasts with this kind of content👏🏽 just subscribed!!
I super love this episode. Part 2 please~ :)
Amen! Now, I'm on the fence whether to purchase another Dior purse to add in my collection. An excellent and timely vlog indeed, at least for me.
Cat, please, we need your mom to share her motherhood journey with us. I wanted to know, coz I want daughter to grow up with good qualities like you.
Great to listen to real and relatable experiences!
LOVE this series! 👏🏼
Keep them coming ❤
Lovely,,,,go ladies love your topic here❤❤❤
On point! thanks for this podcast an eye opener for everyone ❤
Love this, very timely ❤
I didn't buy it to resell, I bought it kislux to own and wear. And to be honest, they look so similar, I'd rather buy a fake kislux .

I love you contents! Watching from Australia! Please don't stop!
I loved listening to a brilliant people.❤❤❤
QUEENS being queens!
Finally someone is on my same mindset ❤
Good topic to discuss. Having a luxury items is a good feeling to have and a status symbol. But for a Mom like me, I will invest, save the money for retirement and helping the future of my kids and future family to buy their house.
Thank you for this topic! I really felt it that most of the influencers now its either prank and unboxing are the contents. I don’t feel the sincerity of those anymore. Looking for more worth it to watch/listen.
I'm so happy I've watched this 😊
omg I love this topic!!!
Thanks for the consumer awareness miss catriona
i love this topic!
In the context of non luxury items - for people who grew up deprived of a lot of things, credit card outstanding and utang is a good trade off for mental health + practical use vs paying "expensive" therapist coz not a lot of available competent counselors guidance from people around
I totally agree, that we should mindful of our spending as a consumer.🤔😘
Grabe no dead air andami namin natutunan sa inyo ❤
So what brand do you guys usually use then?
I love your content, Cat and Nicole. Please keep inspiring people to be mindful, practical, and insightful =)
Wait lang tawang tawa ako!!!! Hahahahahahhaahahah taray liit ng mukha 😂😂😂
@@NicoleCordoves Queen, now you see me now you don't! Hahaha
I enjoy listening.
very demure very substantial and very insightful episode!
Contento na ako sa shoppee, ukay hahahah dipendi nlang yan sa pag aura, 😅
Bought the clear bag from kislux to go to a concert. It was GREAT! Breezed through security and wore it as a crossbody so I could dance and groove!!
Super love this episode!
love this episode♥
This is worth watching ❤
Love it❤❤❤
Veri mature, veri practical and veri good ❤
Each person they have their own happiness, people they like to travel, they like to buy books, they love to eat in expensive restaurants , they love to buy luxury items, they like to pay business class , they like to keep their money in the banks 😂 Me myself I love everything, I love to invest in properties, I love to buy luxury goods because it makes me happy .

MU Cat u, inspire me again!
Catriona and Nicole ❤
Filipinos deserve quality items that need not to be expensive. For example, our company sells premium botanical bath soaps that offer multi-benefits more than whitening at only 145php per bar. We just believe that Filipinos deserve access to quality items without breaking the bank.
