  • I finally got my hands on the all-new GoPro Hero 12 Black and the new Max Lens Mod 2.0 and gave it a first quick test. Check the video and let me know what you think in the comments below.
Also, let me know what else would you like me to film with the new Hero 12..? Comparisons, side-by-side footage, etc?
    Legends!

Been testing then hero 12 too with and without max lens mod 2.0. Here are my 2 cents.
    1. For helmet mount. Use the Max 2.0 on max HyperView but you need to tilt the camera up a little more than previous GoPros. Due to the taller and wider field of view this will show a little more of the sky and a tad less area bellow the handle bars but it will massively reduce the distortion on the edges. This will make it look a little less like a 360 like video. This is by far my favorite.
    2. Chin mounted. Use the Max Lens 2.0 on max HyperView and also tilted up a more than previous GoPros. This will keep your knees from showing up on videos but show much more sky than older GoPros.
    3. Chest mounted. Don't use max lens mod 2.0. It shows too much of the arms and helmet/chin will appear into the frame too. Makes it look ugly (in my opinion like insta360 videos). For chest mounted I prefer no max lens mod 2.0 and the the camera to HyperView.

don't forget that there is also SuperViewMax mode: horizontally there is more field than the Hyperview without lens (and vertically a little less), but with MUCH LESS distortion!

Sick video! The max mode on the Go-pro is definitely the best, keep up the good work👌🏼

Thanks a lot! I only discovered today that i was shooting in low bitrate and 8-bit video. 🙅‍♂️ Rookie mistake. I’ll be uploading a new video soon with these changes and see if the video quality is better. 👌

Will do some more testing with that as i was filming in the wrong bitrate and messed my footage quite a lot! 🙌

Honestly, I forgot to change bitrate and i was shooting in 8-bit instead of 10-bit. Which made the footage look like sh#€. Im giving it another go this weekend with more comparisons and this time the correct settings and figure out what works best in each mode.

I'm very impressed with the stabilisation .Crystal clear the video in any mode, but I don't like the chest mount .😬

There’s a bit of controversy on that matter. A lot of people like the chest mount, as well as a lot don’t. 🤷‍♂️

all are great, second gives more fisheye look, so it distorts the picture and some shots can looks kinda strange)

True. At least for mountain biking might look kinda weird. I’ll try it when i start snowboarding again later in the winter. Might make for some cool shots. I’ll mess around with it a bit more and figure out what works best.
