I had forgotten about this wonderful human's music and only remembered the feeling, his general appearance, and that he had a tiny desk concert. It took a look of searching and it was doubly worth it, not only did I re-find Strand of Oaks, I was able to find many other new to me and forgotten to me musicians. For Stand of Oaks, the refrans: "I don't want to start all over again" and "I was lonely but was having fun" were anchors for me when in the depths of addiction, and to revisit them now as a sober person on the other end, I ache with gratitude. Thank you Timothy Showalter!

NPR has always surprised me with the quality of artists they bring in. I have never heard of this man before. It's brilliant and beautiful. NPR is doing something right with these Tiny Desk Concerts. This man is a beautiful human being creating outstanding music. Thank you for shedding some light into this slowly dimming music industry.

Uh, WOW! Please promise to NEVER use auto tune. Please. Hearing the emotion in your voice is like listening to your music finally off the meds -- free, unfettered and unmuted. I liked your music already, but this set just takes the admiration to a whole 'nother level. TY for saying what I feel, but can't express in word and song. TY NPR for hosting this talented fella. Always enjoy the sets.

"JM", a Jason Molina-tribute. In this song Jason includes Neil Young:
      ruclips.net/video/ZYU9588BI44/видео.html
      "It's been hard doing anything
      Winter stuck around so long
I kept trying anyhow and I'm still trying now
Just to keep working just to keep working
I remember when it didn't use to be so hard
      This used to be impossible
A new season has to begin
I can feel it leaning in whispering "Nothing's lonely now"
      Nothing anymore in pain
A tall shadow dressed how secrets always dress
When they want everyone to know that they're around
Leaning in whispering "my friend over there
Don't know what he's talking about"
      Did you really believe
      That everyone makes it out?
Almost no one makes it out
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍"Think I'll pack it in
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍and buy a pick-up
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍Take it down to L.A.
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍Find a place to call my own
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍and try to fix up.
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍Start a brand new day.
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍The woman I'm thinking of,
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍she loved me all up
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍But I'm so down today
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍She's so fine she's in my mind.
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍I hear her callin'.
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍See the lonely boy,
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍out on the weekend
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍Trying to make it pay."
      ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍- Neil Young - Out on the Weekend (Harvest)
I'm going to use that street to hide
      From that human doubt
To hide from what was shining
And has finally burned us out
But if no one makes it out
How come you're talking to one right now
For once almost was good enough"

He pulls off the metal looking dude with heartfelt songs better than Ryan Adams in that Ryan Adams looks like he's having a sorta-laugh while dressed in teenage metal gear while the performer here looks legitimately metal!

It's the feeling in his voice.
Gram Parsons' voice always seemed like he was crying out for help.
This guys' voice is a little different but it's about the feeling in it.
The Replacements' singer's voice always sounded sort of desperate.
It's about the feeling in his voice.
