A moment of silence for all the struggling indie devs at Fox who will now wander the streets condemned to homelessness and squalor because Alteori used footage of an Alien sequel from 1997 in an analysis video
I think the weird voice thing with Call was because she has partially merged with the ship's computer, the second voice was the computer being "mind-controlled" by her.
That's the way I interpret it, her voice commands were being broadcasted by the PA system to let the crew know the computer was being given instructions not authorized by the crew, probably a security feature.
OMG, you watched the extended cut... the original cut doesn't end on earth. It ends with them orbiting earth. The first time I saw this movie, the human-alien hybride was terrifying for me... now it's just sad and scary. It also was directed by Jean Pierre Jeunet, french director who later made Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, and before that he made The City of the Lost Children.
@@Alteori They're down far enough in the atmosphere that the ship's internal atmosphere balances with what's outside and the hole in the window doesn't cause them all to suffocate. Ripley and Call still have the same exchange of lines, just in the cargo bay looking out the window instead of looking out over the ruins of what's either Paris or Las Vegas. Sidenote: I think that Call's double voice was because she was 'speaking' via the ship's comms system, not just her own throat. She was doubling up with Father's circuits. The Newborn to me is equal parts terrifying, disgusting, and sympathetic. The way it just flat out lobotomizes the xenomorph queen (it's her forebrain he chops through, not her jaw) always makes me shudder. Then the way it pleads for Ripley's help IN ENGLISH as it's dying just jerks at my heart. As for the acid that hits Christy I think it was a mix with the slime the xenomorphs secrete and thus wasn't as potent or long lasting. I also think that that particular one was able to do the spitting while the caged ones couldn't is that the spitter might've been a different caste (xenomorph variants/castes are covered in the comics and games). Sidenote the Second: The screenwriter for this one was Joss Whedon.
Alien 4 was pretty horrific. The scene with the failed Ripley clones in the lab, the swimming xenomorphs, the humanoid xenomorph.... the movie was great in ending the original series, it was actually a nightmare fuel movie with most of it’s content.
@@Alteori If nothing else I know the audiobook of it is on audible, which means the ebook version is probably on kindle. The novelizations of the Alien movies are GREAT, you can tell at least in the first two the writer's just having fun.
Theory: the aliens killed their smaller member because they figured they couldn’t afford to slowly corrode it over time, and could not risk getting caught. They weighed theirs chances before deciding they needed to do it as soon as possible. It’s the saddest kill in the whole movie for me 😞
The novel goes in depth. The action is triggered by Ripley's memory of the line "Don't see them fucking each other over for a bonus" At which point it occurs to the aliens that they can kill one to escape. They pass the thought on to the queen, who approves. 'Fun' fact, the murdered drone ALSO agrees with the plan, including his role as the sacrifice...but his sense of self preservation still makes his death a horrible, fearful experience. TLDR, this is all Burke's fault. Without him, the thought never would have occurred to them
@@valashar5313 Pretty much every movie that isn't based on a book has a novelization, and it tends to go off the script, meaning you more or less get the director's cut
@@Alteori I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was somewhat cute and wanted Ripley to teach it, the potential for what that thing can do is endless.
I called that newborn Xenomorph, a Neomorph. The fact that it showed anger and fear, made me feel for it. Legit felt sorry when it got sucked out into space like that, cuz it wasn't a quick death.
Despite all the dislike thrown at this movie, it's still the most beautiful entry of the series. The lighting, color grading, sets, models, and creature designs just blow me away. Every time.
that's always been my impression as well. I mean, look how mixed the previous clones were. the only reason they with with R-8 was because she was "good enough"
@@marhawkman303 because she was pregnant with a xeno most of the third movie, so their DNA was already fused together when her blood was taken. The xeno she was carrying fused with Ripley and mingled their DNA
This one may not be as great as the others, but you just gotta love how they stay true to the main protagonist. Ripley, clone or not, is still a Ripley badass we love. The xenomorph models with their gross wet gooiness is damn amazing in this movie too. They don't show them as some simple military tools, but as living and breathing weapons and it's just awesome. They have been a creature I've loved ever since I was a kid.
The reason Ripley 8 had the xenomorph in her is possibly because of Xeno reproduction . A common theory is that the face hugger doesn't implant an egg, but rather starts a process of changing the hosts DNA to produce the chest buster. This explains why Xeno's take on some characteristics of its host ( making it more suited for the environment ) This movie potentially backs up that theory, because when they retrieved Riply's blood, it would be post FHer after her DNA was altered, and it took 8 tries to get a clone that was human enough to live and gestate a chest buster, and not some horrible amalgam between the 2 species due to her DNA being spliced.
Yeah, the first 7 were more hybrid than human. But it also meant they weren't alien enough to be a queen either. However, I have to wonder..... what if they HAD in fact lived.... would they have been intelligent beings with xeno strength?
I did not need to know about corrosive acid on man parts. But now that I do know, I can't unknow it. Thank you for that horror image! God, I love your snarky humor.
This was the first ALIEN movie i ever saw in a theatre so it holds a special place in my heart. I love the BETTY and her crew - theyre basically the Prototype of the FIREFLY crew
funfacts sigone really did make that shot without looking. if i remember right the hard cut was bc there were a few genuine praises given afterward. Also they did keep wetting the buggo....but they used lube lol
22:51 if you think about how strong their blood is, it can burn through several layers of steel, he gets burned a little bit but his head doesn't melt away. I always figured their spit was acidic, but nowhere near as strong as their blood. If they had spit on their containment unit they may not have been able to burn through it fast enough to actually escape before the doctors used countermeasures. Killing their brother ensured they could escape, while spitting may have allowed them to escape, maybe
You mentioned the risk of having acid blood if she tries to sleep with someone, I raise you the issue with finding period supplies when you have acid blood
And that's why we love ya, alty. You're a quirky foxxo =3 resurrection was a wild movie, still remember my friends dad ordering it on HBO back in the day. Lol, he was afraid it would give us all nightmares 🤣
Fun fact: the director of Resurrection was also a director on French indie film Amélie that basically started the Manic Pixie Girl movie fad of the 2000s (Garden State, Elizabethtown, 500 Days of Summer, Stranger Than Fiction, etc.) They've got some other really good lesser known movies too, like Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children and Big Bug.
Actually I quite liked this one, Ron Perlman always brings an awesome, gravelly-voiced edge to anything he’s in and I liked Ripley-8 too! The Newborn was ... different. Not my favourite but a decent idea *in theory* (there’s a T-Rex Xenomorph folks, is this so unthinkable?) but they just messed it up. Glad you like it too Alteori, though it’s just a regular pleasure for me (I think AVP 2 was waaay worse) 😎😎😎 Thank you for the new vid Alteori (love your new avatar btw) 💙🐱💙
@VotingChipmunk oh I loved the Predalien, the idea was equal parts scary and cool ... but I think they made it OP not only in that it was a Predalien *Queen* (how since the dead Predator got caught by a regular Facehugger?) so it could make more little spawns of Satan ... but also multiple offspring are born _instantaneously_ from the poor host ... seriously that bit in the delivery room with all the women in labour and seeing that one woman and her unborn child die twists my guts to think about (then again later when there was a Xenomorph in nursery with the babies) 😖😖😖
I've always really enjoyed this movie. Maybe because I'd already seen Jean Paul Jeunet's other films beforehand so I had an idea of what to expect, but it has a fantastic cast (esp Ron Perlman and Brad Dourif) and Sigourney Weaver had full creative control over her character and clearly has a lot of fun. This seems like the type of movie that was fun for the cast and crew in general.
@@cjkalandek996 News flash, I gave the movie bonus points for creeping me out. I even have a hard copy of Alien & Aliens. Maybe you should ask questions before assuming shit that's false. Plus I don't give a rat's ass about Alien isolation, I never played the game. Plus is subtle horror all you care about??
I, too, have questioned the corrosive properties of Xenomorph blood. The only thing I can think of is that it reacts differently (or rather, corrodes differently) based on the substances it comes into contact with. =^~^=
It’s also a chemical reaction to oxygen, The xenomorphs are silicone/Silicate based life. So while our blood is rich in iron giving its color, their blood is in a sealed pressurized environment so it’s properties can dramatically change and their bodies are more tolerable to hostile chemicals for its biology since silicone based life could exist in theory but it’d have to be in absolutely brutal conditions. As for the inconsistencies it’s resurrection… we’re not really shocked.
Idk how I feel about xeno Ripley, personally in her place I'd view myself most likely as a threat/abomination, I feel like clone me would stay alive just long enough to kill of the xenomorph, also it's ok the xenomorph they sacrificed was on board, they have a hive mind and willing to do whatever it takes, it's a parasitic species, I don't feel bad for it, and I'm an INFP
*The following are the musings of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it!* [EARL the Salty SEAGULL:] "I agree this movie is campy, but I can't help but love it! Ripley as a Xenomorph Human hybrid works well & the intelligence of the Xenomorphs is on full display! Also, Ripley's predatory behavior works! I would also totally ship her & the synthetic girl as they while they both look human they are actually beings that aren't completely human, so they have something in common! Sure, it may not be as serious as previous entries, but hey its still got serious themes like who's the real monster as while the aliens are outwardly monstrous, they are just doing what they need to do to survive while the humans on the research station see them as potential bio-weapons with Ripley intriguing due to her human intelligence & genetic memories, while also the physical capabilities she gains from being a hybrid! Ripley's reaction to her hybrid child/grandchild's (since it was born from the queen Ripley spawned) death was in line with Ripley's motherly instincts & one could argue it wasn't a monster just a child that imprinted on Ripley! Its kinda sad that Ripley didn't pull a Samus (who spared the Infant Metroid that she would name the Baby due to it imprinting upon her like it was her mother) and let it live (still, I get why she didn't as it would likely be seen as an abomination & that it might never be fully human or Xenomorph)! Its funny how Samus & Ripley resemble one another, given they both (Ripley through her clone) end up becoming hybrids with the titular alien parasites of their respective series!"
So there are several types of xenomorphs, the drones in the cage are just that. The other one is a spitter, the spit acid is more diluted mainly meant to subdue. The guys with BIG spines on their backs are warriors or queensguard depending on their head shape… lots of types I love this movie as well because in the 2nd movie we get told they’re smart by the power being cut and then go through the ceiling since they can’t get through the doors. This one we are ACTIVELY SHOWN they have problem solving, knowledge about their own anatomy, and apparently good memories and vengeful tendencies which is exactly what they’re like in the lore. They will actually save people that are a pain in the rear to deal with to slowly and painfully remove them later
And now... because I must... I will make your day worse. Imagine raging acidic super periods. On a related note, the gooieness was caused by large amounts of KY jelly.
I mean militarizing Dinos kinda makes sense if you remember Owen was able to train raptors and later on they used them so I feel like raptors make sense but a t-Rex or anything like that doesn’t like one of the flying ones can just attack you or leave but a trained attack drone raptor is perfect for random quick ambushes in places like jungles and such compared to footmen

i wasn't called Alien Resurrection Alien 4 Because it does even feel like a Alien 4 To Me because it is a 1997 movie but i Still Definitely Called Aliens Colonial Marines The Real True Alien 4 movie in 1993 and 1994 Cop Hicks is still alive but it is Sad that Newt and Turk both still alive died tho but Turk was Mistaken for Cop Hicks Death 🥺😢 ❤️
Better than that prometheus and covenant crap
I loved this film! I get the things that people don't like and I don't disagree but there's a ton of cool stuff in this one too. I still hate the hybrid at the end though. I like the vision but that is one absolute fail of a monster.
I saw this in the theater. The original opening was spooky, disorienting, and a bit nauseous. And then on other media--They did the stupid bug thing. Disappointing.

Oh yeah that
15:38 Oh, I just realized that that's Ron Perlman! He's a prolific screen and voice actor who has been in a LOT of stuff and he's in a scene where he gets emasculated by the female lead in Fifth Element, as well.
He's Hellboy for me

Gave me nightmares for weeks after seeing it initially
@Dragonlord Pete what scene is this?
Same, its those eyes man...
Yeah because it’s more humanoid then the rest
It could have been worse. it was originally supposed to have a giant dick that it would stab into people to lay eggs, but the studio nixed it. You can see a mark on its belly where the cack was supposed to be
Fun note! In the novel Alien: The Cold Forge, a chemo-hormonal fear response helps trigger the ovomorphs ( eggs ) wake up and release the face huggers.
So if you see the egg, don't be scared of it.
@@Menaceblue3 Not quite. It's more like if you see it's gonna open anyway, but getting scared makes it open faster.
The ovomorphs are actually seperate organisms completely. It could just decide to never open up.
@@McKae00 Yes and no. The Ovomorphs are separate creatures from the face huggers yes. However they only exist to house the face huggers to begin with. The only instances in which it failed to open were for synthetics.
Edit: Matter of fact depending on your head-canon the ovomorphs even used to be people.

@@planetphatness Yeah, Call is talking through the computer. It's a way of showing everyone that the computer is doing what CALL wanted now.
Fun Fact: that no look shot into the basketball hoop wasn't a camera trick. Weaver actually made that shot without looking.
Took hundreds of attempts and when she made that one from the shot it was either she was gonna make that one or they would move on.
Wait they are just orbiting Earth? but they are ok?
At least they tried to end the series while Jason and The Leprechaun all went off to crazy adventures in space
Next to the original, this one is the best in the series to me.
I recommend getting the novelization, it gives you some scenes from the xenomorph's point of view. It gives a lot of insight into how they think.
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 I must have it
Wait what where can i get it
@@Alteori If nothing else I know the audiobook of it is on audible, which means the ebook version is probably on kindle.
It’s the saddest kill in the whole movie for me 😞
There is very much an aspect of sadism to their actions. One of them is clearly laughing at the one they're killing.
Without him, the thought never would have occurred to them
@@TheKyrix82 I did not know there was a novel version! Will have to look that up.
@@valashar5313 Pretty much every movie that isn't based on a book has a novelization, and it tends to go off the script, meaning you more or less get the director's cut
Or maybe the other alien that threw up acid blood was a spitter alien
I wanna know what the Newborn human/xenomorph hybrid would look like full grown and its role in the xenomorph species.
I prefer the normal looking ones but that would be interesante
@@Alteori I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was somewhat cute and wanted Ripley to teach it, the potential for what that thing can do is endless.
Probably doesnt have hive behaviour since it has much more human dna
@@Alteori Agreed.
I did not care for the newborn honestly.
Every time.
I don't think hosts get gene info from a xeno. I think the sheer fact these two were cloned together is the reason they're so mixed.
that's always been my impression as well. I mean, look how mixed the previous clones were. the only reason they with with R-8 was because she was "good enough"
Yeah I always thought they just couldn’t seperate their DNA since Ripley was impregnated when they got her blood
@@moistwrmonastring1017 Yeah, but... how did Xeno DNA get in Ripley's blood?
@@marhawkman303 because she was pregnant with a xeno most of the third movie, so their DNA was already fused together when her blood was taken. The xeno she was carrying fused with Ripley and mingled their DNA
I loved watching Resurrection with my mum when I was young. She loves the movie, and I enjoy it
My mum would walk out pretty quick haha
“Sorry this content has been blocked by fox, only the uploader can view it”
This one may not be as great as the others, but you just gotta love how they stay true to the main protagonist.
Not gonna lie, hearing Alteori squeal over the baby alien near the end is both absolutely adorable and wholesome while also being like “uhhhh…what?” 😂
Nice to see the review back up even tho I already watched it
funfacts sigone really did make that shot without looking. if i remember right the hard cut was bc there were a few genuine praises given afterward. Also they did keep wetting the buggo....but they used lube lol
Yep. They had to hard cut because Rom Perlman went absolutely ape shit.
@@valashar5313 i dont blame him that was awesome
22:51 if you think about how strong their blood is, it can burn through several layers of steel, he gets burned a little bit but his head doesn't melt away. I always figured their spit was acidic, but nowhere near as strong as their blood. If they had spit on their containment unit they may not have been able to burn through it fast enough to actually escape before the doctors used countermeasures. Killing their brother ensured they could escape, while spitting may have allowed them to escape, maybe
I honestly loved it. That baby hybrid was creepy as hell!
Fun fact: the director of Resurrection was also a director on French indie film Amélie that basically started the Manic Pixie Girl movie fad of the 2000s (Garden State, Elizabethtown, 500 Days of Summer, Stranger Than Fiction, etc.)
They've got some other really good lesser known movies too, like Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children and Big Bug.
@oedipa I like Alien resurrection movie but I don't like Big bug movie.
Glad you like it too Alteori, though it’s just a regular pleasure for me (I think AVP 2 was waaay worse) 😎😎😎
Thank you for the new vid Alteori (love your new avatar btw) 💙🐱💙
@VotingChipmunk oh I loved the Predalien, the idea was equal parts scary and cool ... but I think they made it OP not only in that it was a Predalien *Queen* (how since the dead Predator got caught by a regular Facehugger?) so it could make more little spawns of Satan ... but also multiple offspring are born _instantaneously_ from the poor host ... seriously that bit in the delivery room with all the women in labour and seeing that one woman and her unborn child die twists my guts to think about (then again later when there was a Xenomorph in nursery with the babies) 😖😖😖
This movie has one of my favorite lines in a movie, and it comes from Dom.

This is my second favorite in the franchise. This shit was funny asf, more watchable than Alien and Alien³.
Then, you don't appreciate the subtle horror of _Alien._ And that subtle horror is what fueled the _Alien: Isolation_ game.
@@cjkalandek996 News flash, I gave the movie bonus points for creeping me out. I even have a hard copy of Alien & Aliens. Maybe you should ask questions before assuming shit that's false. Fun fact Sigourney Weaver actually made the backwards shot. Woot 3-pointer.
I, too, have questioned the corrosive properties of Xenomorph blood. The only thing I can think of is that it reacts differently (or rather, corrodes differently) based on the substances it comes into contact with. =^~^=
It’s also a chemical reaction to oxygen,
The xenomorphs are silicone/Silicate based life.
The "what's inside me?" guy is very good at being terrified, I think he was in Seven too
Idk how I feel about xeno Ripley, personally in her place I'd view myself most likely as a threat/abomination, I feel like clone me would stay alive just long enough to kill of the xenomorph, also it's ok the xenomorph they sacrificed was on board, they have a hive mind and willing to do whatever it takes, it's a parasitic species, I don't feel bad for it, and I'm an INFP
10:19 That burned more than Alien's acid blood xD
23:55 Now that's metal!
*The following are the musings of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it!*
[EARL the Salty SEAGULL:] "I agree this movie is campy, but I can't help but love it!
The guys with BIG spines on their backs are warriors or queensguard depending on their head shape… lots of types
I love this movie as well because in the 2nd movie we get told they’re smart by the power being cut and then go through the ceiling since they can’t get through the doors.
I can't believe Alteori used "Backshots" in an alien review 🤣🤣🤣 I just found her and I already love this crazy chick!!

Ron "Hellboy" Pearlman and Brad "Chucky" Dorif. I always love watching those 2 in movies. Also Sigourney Weaver is a joy to watch as well.
