people might think this is a problem, but when you think of it, theres no song ever that isnt inspired from something else. this is a great representation on how to take inspiration and ideas from other people, while making it unique to yourself. i have PLENTY of songs ive made which have vague ideas taken from other artists, but the thing is, you'd never even notice. great vid brother

I've very recently been working on a remix of my song I Feel The Love, but it sounded way too hard and percussive for what I wanted.
So I kept listening to "As It Was" from Harry Styles in order to steal the mixing, because it had this energetic yet melancholic and soft mood I was looking for.
At the end it doesn't even sound like it in the slightest, but it really helped me get the mood I wanted.

this is my approach to most things in life lol
valid. the art of referencing and trial and error are something that can take a bit of practice. but once you are able to reference a style and implement it in your own way you are then able to expand upon your own ideas further.

I've actually stole lots of chord progressions over the years and just created my own stuff out of it. chord progressions are meant to be stolen and it's actually quite amazing to put my own spins on such lol
That's fine, although anyway, it would be better to learn about music theory (the basics) and mainly listen to a lot of music (any genre) I assure you it's twice as good because your own chords feel more genuine and real, besides being reassured that you will never get someone complaining about certain “chords”

All the songs are already out there. I was once with a guy who wrote an amazing song on the guitar. Kept telling him he should record it but he never did.
Fast forward two years and we are sitting in the kitchen and Losing my Religion comes on the radio. We were both gob smacked. It was his exact melody and rhythm 100%! If I hadn't been there I wouldn't have believed it.
Just yesterday my daughter showed me a riff she had written on the guitar. It was Dust in the Wind 😂

So there is little shame in ripping things off really. As long as it has something of you in it it's fine.

I approve, btw one trick you might wanna do with drops like these is its always good to have some melodic pads having some atonal feature for a more airy sound, the way you do is put Soothe2 on it if you have it and try to find a sweet spot by removing some tonal character from the pads and then use a plugin like Fresh Air as well for giving it some more Air. Trust me it works like a charm

You don't have to steal in order to be the "listener" and find out what sounds/chord progressions etc. are being used in professional music.
All you need is time and ears to listen. I know what sounds good not because I steal from other people, but because like a sponge, I soak up
game from other musicians/artists that I listen to and I then can easily apply what they're doing into my own music if that's what I choose to do.

I used to produce like that, after failing so bad at music production I started to create from scratch playing with my midi and writing down ideas… I know it takes way more time but every track I produce now is getting released on good labels so I think producing from scratch is better than this.
When i was a kid we just call that remix. Thats how i got started back then
