QuixoticQuaver And why is that ? what is the difference between that and any other software ? And a key hole can last a hundred years, the little motors allowing you to access the handles, will not.
ForeskinMan It's similar to the reason Macs don't get that many viruses. You need to fully understand the OS of the car as well as the language used which is probably classified for this purpose. I'm sure it's possible to get a virus for one of these cars, but I'm sure the chances of getting it by accident are waaaaaaay less than getting in an automobile accident with a normal car. Also, viruses are NOT self propagating. Meaning they need some user input for installation and use. The only way one of these could be hacked is if someone somehow created a media music file or a phone number that somehow got into the OS's hard code via knowledge of the OS and OS language (again, something that is most likely classified). I seriously doubt they would release a car into market that has internet capability without taking huge precautionary steps into OS security. As far as important data corruption is concerned (car's software to cause it to run), IF that were to happen at all, most OS devices have some sort of factory reset setting that can either be done by yourself or at a factory. But I'm sure the chances of that happening at all are super rare, let alone from maleware. TL;DR You have a greater chance of getting hit by lighting twice in a row with a meteorite in between than getting this thing hacked.
What a futile attempt at transferring your own misery unto another. How the f*** are you supposed to know what kind of car someone you don't know will drive? Either say something constructive or shut up.
@@bryanmurray2708they are widely available for like 10k to 15k now. So i'd guess he could get one if he wants now. Why be such a hater? How much have you got done in the past 8 yrs? You driving your dream car?
Just save enough for the 10% down and if you can get a good deal on financing maybe you can afford the payments! A lot of people think it's harder than it is to have nice things. You don't have to be rich, just smart with your money and obviously a good paying steady job lol
This car isn't that expensive. I mean, sure, it's more expensive than the average car but hey, you get maybe the most technologicaly advanced car on earth and don't have to pay petrol. Most of us can get it if saving.
TheUnPlayable You call $65,000 not that expensive? It would be great for the environment but I can't afford it. That's about 25 years in gas which I hate buying.
TheUnPlayable 90%+ of people can not afford a car this expensive, most of their savings went on the property. Heck most people pay rent and barely break even every year.
If anything, videos like this can inspire us poorer people to save and get something as cool as this. I know the savings on gas and maintenance are huge, but it is just that initial cost that a lot of people can't afford. xD
Expensive? Please. I have no idea why all these people are talking about a Model S like it's an expensive car. Here's some simple math in a 12-year TCO analysis. Subaru Outback Limited = $38k off the lot. Add $7k in maintenance and (get this) almost $50k in gas over 12 years. And that's assuming gas prices stay stable. (LOL) You're at $95k now to own an Outback for 12 years. Or, buy a Model S for $85k, add $10k in electricity, a few k for maintenance. Same cost. Which would you rather own? Which is better for the planet? Would you rather vote with your dollars and have oil companies taking your money, or a company that's investing in renewable energy and trying to change the world? I know a lot of people who own a Model S and none of them are "rich". Just average peeps making a smart decision. I got a Leaf a couple months ago and love it. Upgrading to a Model S for Xmas.
This Tesla Supercharger = free is really convenient and makes the car so much cheaper... I would be looking into this company in the near future. I stll dont have a car but definitely this one(tesla cars) will be on my radar, importantly the benefits of free charge.
Exactly! Finally someone who gets it! Model S is more than affordable. It's one hell of a bargain. A bang for the buck! You get a lot of car for very little money. I'm 22 years old and I drive Model S. My job allows me to finance one and it won't take long to pay it off completely. Those who complain that it's expensive really don't know much about cars and economics.
I'm in love and I need to buy one now. What a beautifully designed and engineered piece of art. I can't even call it a car. It's so nice I want to cry.
Hmmm let me see. Do I want a car that is powered by a magical like force that even science doesn't know what it is (electromagnetism) and that is quiet and doesn't pollute or do I want a car that is powered by actually physically exploding vapourised fuel constantly to smash pistons up and down and that is noisy and pollutes the air?
Ummm idk... why don't you tell us ;) For now I will take the old fashioned way of getting around. I don't know how much these cars cost but im guessing there not cheap and the fact that I don't have anywhere I could plug it in to charge it. I live in the city and park my car on the street so it's just wouldn't work. But im guessing im not the demographic they are going after.
The answer is yes. I would rather have an electric car and I'm a right wing conservative. It's way better for the environment, the range is way, way over 98% drivers usual drive. With government subsidies they are actually quite cheap and there are charging ports on many streets now.
+Blaise Igirubuntu You fucking ignoramus. Knowing what conditions cause something and knowing what it actually is are not the same thing. Read a book now and again before you troll; science and scientists 'DO NOT' know what gravity, electromagnetism, light etc actually is. They know what conditions cause it but they do not know what it is. That's 'the fuck' I'm talking about you idiot.
Don't tell me to read about it, I study it. You are the one spooting some Insane CLown Posse bullshit. We know about the force of electromagnetism, we know how it works in our every day world and beyond, we can describe its mechanisms and the various ways it interacts with other parts of the universe. There is no indication in our modern understanding of science that would indicate that the force of electromagnetism has a more fundamental structure. String theory does point to that, but it's a mathematical model that hasn't been observed in anyway. Even if we don't fully comprehend electromagnetism at the fundamental level, it has absolutely nothing to do with the Tesla Model S. You think they made the car up? That they messed with batteries and ended up with a vehicle without knowing every single relevant aspect of it? You think we build a society heavily relying on electricity without knowing what it is? There is a difference in not knowing what something is and not knowing what we can fully accomplish with it. What about you go read books that aren't pop science and stop pretending things?
the only electric car i would buy with my eyes closed...its a tesla... all the very best...keep rolling out more fab models...and keep an eye on mass production and affordability... would love 2 see tesla is as what assembled pc was for the computer market...
It's not really cost effective. Solar panels are still really expensive. While you would get a bit of extra range out of it, it would add 10's of thousands to the price. Maybe when solar panels are cheaper and/or more efficient though.
+Zay Buckley Yes, they are, and you can even get a $1,000 discount on one through Tesla's referral program (lasts till Dec. 31). Here is the link for the discount: ts.la/valentina9802
+Zay TheVlogger My question is , when is the Corporate State going to make driving illegal , because that is where all this is going , driver less cars and less freedom , sucks
+Digital Bullet Self driving can mean more freedom for some people. Those who can't drive - because of a disability, etc. Humans are by far the largest cause of Road Traffic Incidents. Just as pilot error is the major cause of aircraft crashes. Remove or minimise the human part and if the regulations and roads are suitable, there will by a reduction in road deaths. Just the same as air passenger deaths have vastly reduced since automation was introduced (despite many, many more aircraft in the skies).
+Bartman I know there is a locator accompanied with the app, and I imagine it has some sort of hindrance program like the newer GM's with OnStar. OnStar can lock the car (keeping the bad guys inside) while gently slowing the car to a stop, hopefully avoiding any accidents. But, I do know you can honk the horn from the app as well. have fun annoying your family if you're off on a trip ;)
What if it gets hacked? I hope they add an instant shut down and reboot button or something like that... Or at least an update every 2 weeks or so to reset the hacker's progress.
Three problems: 1) The fact that the majority of interior functions are on that screen. Not only was it difficult to do some of the most basic functions while driving, but if that screen were ever to malfunction or break for whatever reason, it would be a MASSIVE inconvenience. 2) The quality of the interior is not up to competitor standards. Yes, the rest of the car is fantastic, but you get the sense that because Tesla made the rest of the car as good as it is, they were not able to invest much in the interior quality. The interior of an Audi A6/7, BMW 5/6 series, and the MB E/CLS Class are examples of what interior quality should feel like in this class of cars. 3) The biggest issue I have at the moment, is still charging. Yes, it charges very very quickly, but not quick enough. Until you can pop into a station for 5 minutes and leave with a full charge, at any and every place you may find a gas station, this will remain a problem for anyone driving long trips, or forgot to charge or could not charge enough at home, or at another charging station.
Yes I always go home with out putting petrol in my car. And in the morning when I have to go somewhere and there is no petrol I am screwed. I mean the chances of forgetting is not likely and over the next two years charge ports will be everywhere, however the time it takes to charge is a pain I admit, but at the same time people should only be driving for around 150 miles before having half an hours break, so they designed it like this on purpose. To force people to take breaks and be healthy. Which in my opinion is a good thing. And no one would forget to charge before a long trip, and no one is going to use 250 miles in a small town, I am pretty sure the car would make it very clear and remind you easily if you have less than 50 miles that it needs charging. No one will forget if it pesters them a little. Interior design, and quality is subjective to taste. I am pretty sure you could take a sledge hammer to the consoles and they would not break, and poor liquids all over them. Since it would be in the rain a lot I am pretty sure they though about this. I think this is nit picking and you probable are worried about car sales for your company. The only thing I would agree about is the speed of the charge. And moores law shows that every 18 months tech improves drastically that means give it 3 years and I am sure the charge will be a lot faster and probable not need to be charged as much. Meaning you will rarely have to charge. The future is electric and eco-friendly. That is what people want.
1) Having a petrol car is different than having a Tesla. Trust me on this one, as it stands now the Tesla is just another electronic device when it comes to the charging aspect. People forget to charge their phones from time to time, I guarantee they will forget to charge their Tesla. As a matter of fact, people often forget to charge their Chevy Volts and Priuses. What makes you think they'll remember to charge their Tesla? 2) No one wants anyone, or any car, telling them what to do. They don't want a car telling them to take a break at a certain interval, because they can't do anything to speed up the process. Furthermore, how saint-like do you think you have to drive to get the Tesla-claimed figures? From my experience, whenever I wanted to get on the power, which is very often in this car, the range drops. This is actually another problem I have with EVs. They can't hold their range when driven hard. Then with 30 minute charging times inbetween, it's unacceptable for someone trying to have a good time (which is something Tesla is trying to cater to, in my opinion, seeing as they had the M5 in their sights). 3) Take a sledgehammer to any car, and see if the interior holds up. Jesus, do you think about what you're saying? In addition, when do you ever see rain getting on the center console? Maybe on the doors, or the seats when you open and close the doors, but when the hell will the center console ever be exposed to rain? In any case, interior quality is NOT subjective. Interior design is subjective, but quality is NOT. The seats in the Tesla are rubbish, in both the way they hold you in place, and the materials used for this class of vehicles. The real estate used in controls are also terrible. I can go on and on about this subject. The Model S is a great car, but it fails miserably in this subject. 4) "I think this is nit picking and you probable are worried about car sales for your company." I can assure you I am not worried about any sales for any manufacturer. There is no reason to be. 5) You put so much emphasis on "I'm sure" this will happen, "in the future" this will happen. Until it happens, or is proven will happen, it is just speculation. 6) Other than your tree-huggers and environmentalist, no one gives two shits about being eco-friendly when it comes to cars, otherwise everyone would be driving Priuses and Teslas. They buy EVs because they want to save money on gas.
On charging problems... they've demoed a battery switching system that can switch the battery out in less time than it takes to fill up a gas tank. It'll be a few years before the infrastructure is sufficient to make Teslas as convenient as gas cars, but if the company is successful, the convenience is coming. Your scenario of having them at every place you buy gas is fundamentally unnecessary for these cars because most charging would be done at home... if you had a bottomless tank of gas at home, how often would you use a gas station?
I think you people need to get over yourselfs. Yes, while driving really fast is fun and all, you just need to enjoy the car, not abuse it. After all, cars are machines, not toys.
Tesla is more American car company then the Big three. "It's made in Fremont, California by american employees" they are building a huge battery factory in Nevada. even the battery is gonna be made in USA. you buy a car from big three, they possibly made in mexico. you buy a toyota, they possibly made in USA. lol
You got it! Right out of Silicon Valley, Calif. Technology, made in Calif. by Californians Just say no to foreign oil, buy American. Talk about a Win Win for the home team!
I love the car, most impressive car I have seen in its class. However, I cant help but to wonder, what is this car going to look like in 15 years, I imagine it will be a mechanical and electrical nightmare as things eventually start to wear out.
@@ihavesnowball HI, past here. 22,000$ battery that needs to be replaced around once every 6-7 years, DLC features you have to pay to unlock that came standard with the car anyways -- but to be fair if you replace the car every 3 years you'll never have problems. I do like my Tesla but I will not be buying another.
Bono Spin I wish I could see a video of an expensive piece of equipment and just decide.... hmmmm... ima go get this let's go. Do I wish I was rich...😂
How is the range affected by passenger numbers ? There must be a big difference between one adult driver and an additional 3 adult passengers ? BTW - I want one
+cielobuio Especially on highways weight doesn't make that much of a difference. In the city you might get a 15% efficiency hit, less than gas cars because electric cars to regenerate energy from braking.

I used to be an audi fan but nah mate im a tesla fan now I CANT WAIT TILL I GET MINE 😍😍

Just save enough for the 10% down and if you can get a good deal on financing maybe you can afford the payments! A lot of people think it's harder than it is to have nice things. You don't have to be rich, just smart with your money and obviously a good paying steady job lol
sign of the times when this is someones "if I won the lottery" car.
(not necessarily a bad thing.)

I know the savings on gas and maintenance are huge, but it is just that initial cost that a lot of people can't afford. xD
+Cards with Chris! Lease? ;p
Tesla has leasing programs. Robert Llewellyn leases one.
Model 3's coming at an MSRP of $35,000. So that helps. At least it's closer than before.

Watched this video so long ago and I remember saying this is the future I now own a model X
Boooooom :)
Same...seemed impossible to do back then but now in a Model S and loving it.
Expensive?
Nope *wrong buzzer*, Tesla Supercharger = Free
If you have a Tesla Supercharger nearby, you can charge there for free.
This Tesla Supercharger = free is really convenient and makes the car so much cheaper... I would be looking into this company in the near future. I stll dont have a car but definitely this one(tesla cars) will be on my radar, importantly the benefits of free charge.
+Ian Witucki i am going to buy one. it cost less than my audi. and one can always buy a honda generator to throw in the back just in case.
Everything about this car is SO COOL
I'm in love and I need to buy one now. What a beautifully designed and engineered piece of art. I can't even call it a car. It's so nice I want to cry.
Thats how I felt, in 2021 I got one used. Been enjoying it very much ever since
I wish they do recharge by sunlight this will give car more mileage
It'd only be a few miles a day, and the supercharger network is 100% offset by tesla solar at this point if not directly solar powered locally.
Stop being so cool til I can afford one dammit!!

Excellent. Well thought out and fantastically comprehensive tutorial.
The fuck are you talking about? Science knows electromagnetism very well. How do you think your computer works? With a steam machine?

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THEM TOO FIT THE ROOF OF THE CAR WITH SOLAR PANELS TO RECHARGE THE CAR ?
It's not really cost effective. Solar panels are still really expensive. While you would get a bit of extra range out of it, it would add 10's of thousands to the price. Maybe when solar panels are cheaper and/or more efficient though.
Thought exactly the same, the prius has a solar panel on the roof

Is there a locator and a kill switch in case it gets stolen?
+Bartman I know there is a locator accompanied with the app, and I imagine it has some sort of hindrance program like the newer GM's with OnStar. OnStar can lock the car (keeping the bad guys inside) while gently slowing the car to a stop, hopefully avoiding any accidents.
But, I do know you can honk the horn from the app as well. have fun annoying your family if you're off on a trip ;)
What if it gets hacked? I hope they add an instant shut down and reboot button or something like that... Or at least an update every 2 weeks or so to reset the hacker's progress.

Three problems:
1) The fact that the majority of interior functions are on that screen.
