What was up with Sue_Storm having better luck with romance after officially being a couple with Reed Richards while Johnny Storm being a hopeless romantic after being in relationships with so many people?
that just comes down to Johnny still being an immature younger brother character, that can't hold onto a relationship. unlike johnny, Sue is the more mature one out the two and being able to hold down her romantic relationship with reed for over 60 years.
i have 0 faith in the MCU at this point so i just hope we see the 97 tackle a more interesting version of the FF and avengers. i am dreading live action xmen 😂

Isn't that retconed way back in 2014 in Matt Fractions run??? Besides they're on the same age group originally and the age gap is a retcon in Byrne run

It was common back in the 60s and it's still common in many parts of Latin America and Europe.
Of course it was John Byrne who wrote that into existence 😭😭😭
The initial 60s stories had Reed and Ben as "college students" who had somehow also served overseas in the military and won several medals (both), played pro ball and acquired a military pilot's license (Ben) and racked up numerous doctorates (Reed)... and yet had *still* just recently graduated when they hooked up with Sue & Johnny (the latter definitely a teenager in high school) for the test flight. Their ages *never* worked.
@@briancurtis6022 I just recently got into FF and from what I've read I'm pretty sure their military background came immediately right after they graduated colleges (it's implied Ben and Reed signed up literally after graduating) so I don't think it's that confusing tbh
Reed having multiple doctorates isn't really shocking either cuz you can just lump it to him being a child prodigy (when Hickman was writing Maker in the OGUltimateU it's said that 616 Reed got 4 doctorates at the age of 14 cuz he's a Nepobaby)
Still though, even if their ages doesn't make sense before, the whole age gap thing is still a retcon that got retconed again, and the recent FF writers acknowledge Matt Fractions retcon of their ages, so technically that's what's canon now
I have really come to love these videos that focus on the retconed adventures of our heroes before they became heroes.
Plus you mentioned the Frightful Four, so I'm going to have to ask for a video on THE FRIGHTFUL FOUR.

All the Quicksilver incest lusting over a sister vibes really ruined those two long before the ultimates. I have no idea what writer was writing that subtext in there, but it was heavy and creepy

Fun fact: Reed Richards powers are directly inspired by plastic man, as Stan Lee said in an interview: "I liked Plastic Man. That's a great power, and nobody is using it so I gave Reed Richards Plastic Man's power". For context at the time Plastic Man was a Quality Comics character and by the 1960's Quality was a defunct company, which meant Plastic Man was no longer published.

Of all comics being produced in the 60's and 70's there is no other enormous, entertaining series than the FF. Excellent job. This was the shi@$%^t when I was a kid. Not anymore. Something about the era that was perfectly captured in this book just epitomizes everything I enjoyed about comics 😂❤❤❤

There being a Ghost Rider before Johnny Blaze makes no sense. The motorcycle motif was an extension of the host's (in that case, Blaze) personality. If he'd been a horseman, he'd have been given a demonic steed; if a pilot, then inferno based flight and so on. But a demon motorcycle enthusiast who coincidentally possessed a motorcycle stuntman? Please.

Love the switching back and forth from Kirby to Allred
the FF and of course Spiderman got me hooked on Marvel comics back in the 70's and I'm still a huge fan. But they are just SO under-utilized by current Marvel writers. The Invisible Woman and Human Torch are easily the most powerful members of the FF. Sue's force field can punch through a Celestial's armor and the Human Torch's NOVA blast easily incinerated Annihilus and his huge Negative Zone army when he was trapped there. Would love to see another innovative writer showing Susan's force fields can be shaped and utilized in so many different ways, offensively and defensively. And the Torch has always been experimenting with his flame like creating fiery doppelgängers to distract an enemy, drawing the heat and oxygen away from an opponent, etc.

They retconed the age gap in Fantastic four (2014), Reed and Sue are the same age now when they met in her aunt's boarding house!!!!
Also keep in mind that the age gap IS A RETCON during John Byrnes Fantastic four run, Originally (in Lee/Kirby run) Reed and Sue are the same age and are childhood neighbors

He’s been a sexist asshole time and time again, plus he supported the superhero registration act, meaning he had no regard for other superheroes privacy and didn’t care if their enemies tried to kill their loved ones, and during that same time he and others had the hulk sent away, and after everything bad that happened to the hulk, he had no regret! Sue deserves far better than that jerk!
@@jakeproven256 OK. here's why you are wrong. 1. him being sexist was how he was written during the time. if you have read any modern FF run be it from hickman, mark waid, james robinson, or ryan north, you would know he's not sexist. 2. his characterization during the planet hulk or civil war stories were out of character for him. which i mean, not only was reed out of character during civil war, everyone was. even before the civil war event, reed during the walt simonson run didn't like the superhero registration act. 3. if you had read hickman's FF run, the beginning of that run, he has admitted his regret with his actions during those times. 4. Sue loves reed because he's willing do anything for his family and in reed's own words, "sue makes him a better person." 5. reed also saved the marvel universe during secret wars 2015, let go of being in the council of reeds to be with his family, had spider-man join the team, because it was in johnny's will that he wanted peter to join, reed gave his family the celebrity lifestyle to replay for his mistake about ruining their lives with their failed rocket launch etc. i could go on, but coming from your comment it doesn't look like you are an FF reader, because if you were then you would know that Reed isn't a horrible person.
