The quality you're presenting is so good! It must take a lot of work and the equipment to bring them to life 🤗
Wonderful presentation, but some of the music just didn't fit.
Please do better. Your music choices are incredibly wrong for these photos. And I have pointed out six historically inaccurate captions and one that is deplorably badly written. There are a lot of channels like yours. You really need to step up your artistic due diligence or you are going to be avoided.
At 11:18, that is not a "car trunk". That's a rumble seat.
Is the mother in law seat!! 😂😂😂
Here in the UK it is called a dickie seat.
certainly looks clean for a time of no real sanitation department
13:50 That can’t be a photo from the 1920s. The whole decade was under the vise of Prohibition. Keep up these lazy, un-researched captions and I’ll keep not subscribing.
The annoying music ruins the video.
3:04 - Aircraft carrier, 1899? Not very likely! Gustave Whitehead's first powered flight was two years later.
They screwed up. They clearly meant “battleship”. Gee, that one is real BAD!
@@dmtm1111The problem is they write the captions for these videos so quickly they don’t bother with copy-editing them , let alone hire an editor who knows what year the Wright Brothers first took off.
Yes, the Wright brothers hadn’t flown yet, lol. No aircraft carriers yet.
Not even a battleship! In 1899, the USS New York in service was the Armoured Cruiser (CA-2) which sailed on until 1946. The first aircraft carrier USS Langley (CV-1), a conversion, went into service in 1922. I shan't even mention why no aircraft carrier was commissioned at the early date of1899! I'm a Brit and certainly not a naval historian. Come on boys, (and girls), buck up!! 🤣
@@Griffinmc Dozens of eyewitnesses, including journalists who reported on it in newspapers, saw Gustave Whitehead flying in 1901.
There were only two eyewitnesses to the Wright brothers' flight in 1903, themselves.
love the photos, hate, hate, hate the totally inappropriate music.
At 11 minutes 21 you say -man having fun in a trunk -that happens to be a rumble seat. And you should think of using music of the period. Otherwise great pictures.
Great images but the video as a whole was completely ruined by garbage music. If only the soundtrack matched the images
The "New York" could not have been an "aircraft carrier" in 1899, since the Wright brothers first flight didn't happen until 1903.
The coloured fotos are gorgeous and filled with life…a kind of archeology. All this is gone.
Stunning photographs, beautifully restored! I really enjoyed the show. I’m from UK and find them fascinating. 😊❤
Thank you so much, I greatly appreciate it !
@@BrightStyleif you can do the Bronx, please❤
Amazing and wonderful pics. Thank you so much, I really enjoyed that trip back in time x
Thank you very much, I appreciate it
Great photos!! I could have done without the music, so of course I muted it. Too bad the exact locations weren't noted...
FYI: There were no Aircraft Carriers in 1899.
Agree. Great photo's; like the colourizing. Frowned at " Boxing match on aircraft carrier New York 1899"?
The man sitting in trunk of the car was actually in a rumble seat.
Great photos and colorizing. However. sound track was HORRIBLE. Did not compliment the photos at all.
Hated the music choice had to turn off volume
Amazing photos!!!!!!! 😢😢Nostagie pure
Gracias!!!!!! 👍👍👍
Thank you very much!
@@BrightStyle 👍👍
Just a couple of cute things first though if I absolutely love these photos, I think I’ve told you that before it looks like it took so much work and patience to compile this collection. I absolutely love it, but I didn’t notice a few funny things the little boy covering his mouth And share surprise when they were hauling off the wine in the one picture was very funny and also having a candy store next to the tent this office would be an epic fail picture in today’s world not to mention how beautiful the illegal immigrants coming over my goodness are they ready to apply For fifth Avenue jobs for a cry of what is coming over nowadays, but I don’t want to get too much into that now I absolutely love your videos. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Bright style….it would have been super…BUT that Rap music took away from the mood!
HORRIBLE MUSIC...Doesnt match at all! 🤮
Love seeing the old styles of dress too.
The photo at 11:18 is labeled as "Man having fun in car trunk". That's a rumble seat, it isn't a trunk.
Stopped watching once the rap started yuck
Thank you 👍
😀👍
Buster out laughing on the picture of the two guys boxing on a warship in 1899, words written say taken on board aircraft carrier New York"..... New York was an Armored (Heavy) ACR-2 a cruiser, one step smaller than a Battleship, the warlords of the sea, and there were no, nor has there ever been an Air Craft Carrier New York,. Aircraft Carriers r did not even come into being until the near end of WWI, some 15 years in the future of 1899, .....Just history nerd funny to me maybe.
None of your music selections give the viewer that galvanic, jazzy feeling of New York City. Some of the last ones sound like Appalachian hillbilly music.
This stuff is eye-candy of the first order - great visual taste, thanks!
Thats'it!!!!
Thank you very much !
There were no aircraft carriers in 1899...must of been a battleship or other type warship...You can tell by the heavy gun turret in the background....
At the 3-minute point, there is an item re: "1899 aboard the aircraft carrier, etc. That'd be tough to do since the airplane was not invented until 1903. Also, just prior to that, there is what looks to be a 1908 model T in a picture that also states 1899. There are some GREAT photos here, but as to the indicated dates on some of these..... Well, they're off a bit.
There wasn't an aircraft carrier in 1899 New York. The aeroplane wasn't invented until 1903.
I love local history like this, thanks for sharing these restored photos!
21:18 “Thomas Edison next to his one of the first and prominent electric car.” Who wrote this caption? Drunk A.I.?
Those “horse drawn carriage taxi cabs” were called Hansom Cabs; when one needed to travel he would “call for a Hansom”.
One one pic 'jennys family at Penn station'? The man is Washington Senators pitcher Walter Johnson I think! Looks exactly like him. Hall of Famer, One of the best ever I guess.
Very good! It's nice to see the colors as they could have been instead of shades of purples and peach.
Evelyn Nesbit....now there's a "story of the century"!
Liked the Pictures. Lose the Music. It's annoying.
The guy sitting in the car "trunk" was actually sitting in what was called a "rumble seat". It was a thing.
"Aircraft carrier" in 1899?
Thanks for sharing this amazing video ❤🎉
Lovely photos, our ancestors could be among those people in the pictures!! Even the 1980's seem nostalgic at this point... Who knows how NYC will look like in 2124 😦Time travel machine anyone??
These are not the oldest photos of New York. The earliest New York photo was around 1850....but the majority of photos offered here fall into the 1900 - 1920s period.
Boxing match on an aircraft carrier in 1899?
That's amazing since man's first flight was in 1904.... and aircraft carrier was officially launched in 1922.
Also, that wasn't a "car trunk". That's a Rumble Seat. That was a small spare seat in back, behind everyone else.
Beautifully done photos! The man having fun in the "car trunk", it's called a rumble seat. The music didn't match the feeling of the photos.
Great photos but I love how they just come up with random years to go with pictures. For instance. I don't think they had aircraft carriers in 1899. The Wright brothers didn't invent the airplane until 1903 and the first aircraft, to actually take from ship was in 1911. I saw another picture from 5th Avenue 1899 with cars in the background and 1915 style fashion.
Music is too lively - distracts from enjoying the photos by competing with photos for our attention. Better to use background Muzak like in groceries and malls.
Great photos, but not "the oldest". Most of them are from the turn of the 20th century; there are photos of NYC dating back to the 1850s.
24:11 Feel free not to mention that the middle flapper is Joan Crawford.
Yes, I spotted her too!
And you put "rap" as the sound in the background? You even have to be woke in this. LOL....
When I colourize a photo I do the WHOLE picture, not parts of it like you do. Many of your pictures contain lots of black and white sections you have ignored.
3:00 USS New York ACR-2 (Armored Cruiser of the Spanish American War 1898) July 3/1899 Boxing match.
Could have done without the ridiculous rap music in the first of it.
I like all genres ❤
@patriciagriffith7402 I complain but I still loved the photos! Lol
Sorry, but they didn't have music in the 1900s.
💯 I was going to say that!! The music is very OUT OF PLACE! Where's the Nichelodian or classical music?
@@mitchfloridaOH yes they did...but not like this!!!
I love your channel! We've just got to do something about getting you better music.
So, you ruin this by putting rap in the background. LOL....
3:10 Pretty amazing that they were having a boxing match on an "aircraft carrier" in 1899
Considering that the Wright Brothers wouldn't make the first powered flight for another 4 years (1903), and the first actual aircraft carrier wouldn't be commissioned until 1922 (USS Langley)
...And there's never been an aircraft carrier named "New York"
There is an error near the beginning. The photo that says Jenny's family at Penn Station is really Hoboken New Jersey. Penn station has high level platforms. I am a New Yorker who grew up in NYC.
Stylish era! Interesting people!
The man with his family at the 2:00 mark is the great Walter Johnson. Unmistakable.
Ilike the images and instrumental music, but am not a fan of the loud vocals - senseless.
WRONG MUSIC!!!!
... Good Point ! - I turn the volume down 👍
Phil. Liverpool UK 🇬🇧
Well Done! 👍🏻 Dream away by the past…😊
Thanks
THAT IS NOT A CAR TRUNK , IT IS A RUMBBLE SEAT.
The music you put for this video doesn’t belong
Great photos but please.
The music imade me have to turn the sound off
03.06 aircraft carrier in 1899? this is a cruiser or something like that. look at the turrets
This was a nice way to end the weekend. The 1899 photo of Fifth Avenue makes me feel homesick for a time and place I have never been. Thank you, very much.
Thank you, I greatly appreciate it !
I’d love to see a comparison of these pictures with the same spots today. It would likely break our hearts.
No doubt about that. Thanks.@@dmtm1111
24:33 Neither of those two women looks like Louise Brooks.
11:25 That isn’t a trunk. It’s called a rumble seat.
as usualas on similar channels...music muted
So clear and colorful, enjoyed it.
Thank you very much!
At 23:46, is Henry Martyn Leland, my 6th cousin a few times removed.
How did you pick the music? Music from the era of the photos would be nice, I just turned off the sound and enjoyed the pictures
Fascinating photos but spoilt by inappropriate and ill matched photos… I had to switch off the sound as it was driving me nuts!!
11:14 that was called a rumble seat.
Great photo's but it's not a boxing match on the aircraft carrier 'New York' in 1889 at 3:03. There were no aircraft carriers until WW1 or even later!
All the music sucked.
.... BRILLIANT !! have sub., 👍
Thank you very much !
⭐️🏆⭐️
17:40 In the 1920s the Bronx was a thriving Middle-class “suburban” borough. This looks like the Lower East Side. Your caption batting average keeps slipping lower and lower.
❤😊
Too bad NY has been destroyed. Very sad…
Destroyed how and by who? If ur trolling your troll material is very weak.
Great pictures. Btw did anyone catch the mother’s super creepy eyes close to the beginning of the video with the caption,’ family at the Penn Station 1919?😮
I'm a photography enthusiast and not to diminish the work but somehow the colorization feels a little off. It doesn't match the reality I see with my eyes in general. Quite frankly, I prefer the original black and white photographs.
You very rarely see footage of Black people on any of these channels. During this time NYC was chock full of Black folks up from the South.
21:57 AI generated
yea, i think channel is pretty much auto generated content
Everyone, even children, ALL wore hats 🎩 👒
Great photos.
Thanks
Yep….and so many of them were IMMIGRANTS, they didn’t just arrive “American” did they? Also, terrible choice in music bro, WTF! 😤🫨🥴
It doesn't look like 1907 at 18:41, probably the 20's.
“New York 1899 a Fifth Ave Stage” Behind 2nd tree from right is a Ford Model T, which first production year was 1908. The clothing and heavy use of horse-and-buggy still fits well within 1908- ~1912. I notice this guy makes all kinds of mistakes in his narrations.
It could also be a Model A which looked similar, and predated the Model T by about 6 years. Even so that still puts the image well after 1899.
Amazing fotos ... thank you very much ! Question : The picture "Ladies Crossing 33rd Street at 5th Avenue, 1896" is a strange one ... 1) The child inbetween the two ladies has a very strange face/hat ... !? 2) On the left side of the picture on see a man, and at the right side on see a strange lady without had or strange dress ... !? Could you explain this ? Thank you very much in advance ... Eveline from Switzerland 😊
Artificial intelligence programs are very good at cleaning up many types of images, but the software still has difficulty when "improving" images of faces and other body parts.
PS. Vous écrivez l'anglais très bien! Sie schreiben sehr gut Englisch!
I can look at each picture for 20 min. This is so interesting. Love the Electric Buses, Sight Seeing and Scooter in the early 1900's. Then, of course Big Texas Oil and Bush's, Exxon, Chase Manhatten got together to destroy everything.
"Electric buses"?? Aren't you referring to trolleys and cable cars?
Nagyon jó volt..!!!!!...SZÉP MUNKA..!!!❤🎉❤
Köszönöm szépen !
I also tried colorizethis on my bw family pics.
Nice to know that the Bronx hasn’t changed one bit lol 😂
They really put a top hat and on the dog and gave him a cigarette. 😂
Loved this Ty
