I completely agree, I have a long-standing interest in/ love for Russian literature music, arts, politics and history too. Such a unique country and culture in many ways...While the 1917 revolution made a sharp break with "Old Russia" and millions of people were to be gravely abused, it should be added though that the Soviet Union also did much to promote classic Russian literature and music and bring this heritage to new and vastly wider audiences, both in their own country but also abroad. 16:28 Chekhov knew at this point that he was mortally ill, he only had a yer left to live. :(

Show of hands, who wants to get tickets to The Pharaoh's Daughter?
I saw a book back in the 1990,s published in French and containing hundreds of Photographs of Russian soldiers and officers, in particular the veteran palace guard company. I always regretted not buying it, does anyone have an idea of its title?? The pictures were taken around 1900-1910 I think, and it was entirely in French.
Probably a Louis Ferrer book. There is a series…all photographs. I bought them ay Librarie Galignani in Paris.
@@koloagirl Just what I was thinking.
Thank you so much. What a joy to see these....and to ponder...
Those gowns were stunning. I love the sleeves
Wonderful photos that really come alive. Thank you. I have enjoyed this.
7:58 at the consacration of the hospital, in the picture it looks like there are the Empress Dowager Maria (Princess Dagmar) and two Grandduchesses, Grand Duchess Maria and Grand Duchess Tatiana, of the Romanov dynasty. Beautiful historical picture
@@susaedu368 yes that true in that picture you can see the empress Maria and her grand children
Потрясающие фотографии! ❤
Russia appears to have been rather prosperous in the early 1900's!
Klimbim's talent is unmatched, one of the best colorization artists ever I would say.
Boze, toliko ljepote ..❤
There is a much lived dessert enjoyed in Australia and New Zealand called Pavlova, said to be named after the famous ballerina. A chef saw her perform and was inspired by her beauty and performance. I often wondered what the real Anna Pavlova looked like as I’ve enjoyed this dessert. Now I know.
...einfach nur Wunderschön die damalige Zeit ❤❤❤!

Imperial Russia was a society with any number of injustices and inequities; but these pictures make it crystal-clear that it was an incomparably more HUMAN society than the steel-cage totalitarianism that succeeded it. Your heart breaks for the children in these photographs, at the thought of the horrors that lay In their future.
The Russian Empire was not perfect. It suffered from some problems like any other empire, but we must also not forget that it was a golden period for the flourishing of arts, culture, literature, etc. If you compare it to the communist regime and the era of the Red Terror, you will find that it was a paradise.
Qu'ils reposent tous en paix, Nicolas and Alexandra we love you...🙏🙏🙏 ❤️❤️❤️
When I look at these photos, I have completely different thoughts. They say that humanity has always lived hard, endless wars, people like cannon fodder, all these peasant boys and girls for merciless exploitation for 16 hours a day, girls will be married at 14, they will all grow old early.
Great video! A world about to be swept away. Made me think of 'Gone with the Wind'.
Such attractive looking people.
great...regards from Chile. South América
Stunning photography....simply stunning.
Russia has always been great, otherwise it would not exist. there are a lot of detractors, as always, beautiful people, rich territory.
Such beauty perished
The photos so close to the Revolution make it sad to think of what happened to some of those people.
Многострадальный чистый русский люд! Восхищаюсь и преклоняюсь!!!
Bravo bravo

Beautiful, amazing, breathtaking, incredibly stunning!
Imponujące. Trzeba przyznać,że carska Rosja miała w sobie coś fascynującego.
So many people, we're they happy, sad, survive the horror that was to come, guess we will never known, but a glimpse of the world before it went mad.
Amazing photos !!! Thank you !!!
Heartbreakingly Beautiful.
I do believe that i was born in the incorrect time, because after beholding the very, very beautiful young ladies/women i feel like Miniver Cheevy
What a lovely video, being in colour made the people so real and so good looking.
Dobra robota, kolor urealnia te foty. Przykre to że wiele z tych ludzi skończyło tragicznie.
Incredible photos, many thanks.
Merci beaucoup! ❤

Sweet beautiful children and lovely women. Russia is ( was) a very sophisticated country.
