Nice review 251 reeling. I just bought the Torium 14 Hg for stripers and cod here in Boston. I also paired it with a Trevala rod. It's a match made in heaven! So small but so powerful. It is my dream to retire to Florida in 10 years and get me a giant amberjack ! You Florida fisherman have it good. I have never caught a snapper, grouper or amberjack. I am so looking forward to doing that. Striped bass are great (I caught 192 last year) , but I'm a bottom fisherman at heart and the bigger the better. Bring on the flutter jigs with a stinger!!
What I like about Torium is the never mentioned cast control Variable Braking System, but you must remove handle side plate, take spool out and on other side you have your braking system, just like the Tranx, Curado and other low pro bait casters have but no side plate to open for settings just harder to get to so many people dont know this reel has a casting control system..Says VBS on box and I have it set perfect no backlashes when casting...
Started w the 14 for salmon & rockcod. My favorite. Bought this 1. Love it. A little power house. Only problem I cant find a seller of part tgt 2090 ( the 2 threaded screws with the flat heads that go in the rod clamp kit) any suggestions? Called shimano they dont even do sales of parts anymore. Thank you in advance.
@@251reeling9 You can whoop a large amberjack with it. I've used the old model for 90-100lb amberjacks,it was insane how big those things were. Torium is a beast.

Bought the a 16 almost 7 years ago its old style all metal love the retrive on it the drag is good the newer one is better but no plastic on my torium
Where is the plastic on the new one? Besides the handle
Why is the Talica silver and the Torium that color. They’re both made of aluminum???
Para lance de costa, cuál de los torium recomiendas?
can you cast with this reel?
Sirve para lanzar de costa?
Do you know if this is pretty much the same reel as the new tekota a but without the line counter and levelwind?
Super!
May i use for live bait?
yes sir
Is this suitable to fit in my grappler type j rod?
yes it it suitable for that jigging rod slow or fast vertical jigging.
Can you use this reel for casting from the beach ?
I don't think 🤔 it would be good for that. More like jigging and reeling from bottom.
@@251reeling9 Thanks. Will it not work ?. I agree it is designed for bottom fishing
Is it useable for Speedjigging?
Yes you can use it for speed jigging however it may not be ideal for large amberjack
@@251reeling9 Here i Northern Europe we dont have any Amberjack. I will use it in Norway for Coalfish and Pollack, and light Baitfishing.

@@BoBandyy ok thanks for the input man.
RandyBoBandy On the 16 size?

18.9 ounces is the weight
The L im told means left handed.
@@251reeling9 thanks a lot
How does it compare to the komodo 463 or the fathom 15?
Its built smoother and handles better than the fathom, the fathom seemed cheap.
@@251reeling9 what size torium is equivalent to the komodo 463?
@@HKX_ORANGECHICKEN I have never used one of those!
I couldn't tell you.
go torium 16hg and keep reeling :)
I love the torium tight lines my friend.
@@251reeling9 I will have one soon, thanks for the review :)
