Jeff I’m with you. I repot, prune and start new cuttings year round and have never had issues. I have no idea who came up with these “rules” but I don’t pay attention to them, neither do my plants. My two large ZZs are breaking the rules right now with new growth. 🙂
It's such a pretty plant. I'm moving from an apartment to a house in the next few weeks so I'm absolutely gonna add one of these to the collection once I have room 😁
Hi Jeff. Lots of us plant parents have more time in Winter and I've always repotted, pruned, grew cuttings. Maybe they don't grow as fast but they grow. Seeing lots of new growth and lots of flowers in my collection!
What a beauty! Seeing your jade has increased my appreciation for the plant. I have two of them, slightly smaller than yours but they are in desperate need of more light. I have to invest into yet more grow lights…! I love your little rake and, of course, your pencil! 😊
Omg! That makes perfect sense to put your plant in a separate container in the 🛁 bathtub. I had to save my monstera last night and spent a lot of time cleaning it after. 🙃 I love your videos. ❤😁
Jeff great timing because I was wondering where to start with repotting my "Gollum" jade plant. Your plant is beautiful mine is about half the size of yours in height but mine is more full. Great video! I will upload a video of mine a little later today so you can see it. Have a wonderful day my friend 💚🌿💯
Now obviously I don't recommend completely destroying the root system like I did.... I want to keep it in the same size part, but you definitely don't have to go to the extreme that I did lol
I love the root rake. I’m thinking about getting one. I just repotted a plant yesterday and the rootball was very hard at the top. When I watered it the water stayed on top and only drained when I tilted to the side and it drained down the inside of the pot. I scraped and pulled at a lay of roots. I also up sized the pot. I’m hoping for improvement and growth.
Wow you went hard core root prune there! I'm sure it will be fine. I'm happy to report that my small Gollum jade did very well this summer, almost doubling in size. I'm hoping for a big plant like yours in a few years!
Can you post an update on how you're jades are doing in the Molly's Succulent mix? I just repotted a bunch of my Jades into it and Im so excited to see how they do!
Hi Jeff, was watching this video at 2:00 am. EST. U.S.A. so im texting now. Have a great day. Gorgeous plant. Lovely story about the propogation. Good luck 🤞 with the repot. I hope it doesn't have any adverse effects. 🎉🎉🎉🎉. Good content.
I agree that plants who are kept inside with lots of light can handle a repot etc. in my experience the super gritty mix along with a terracotta pot makes it so I have to water much more often but the plants are very happy. Love your vids ❤
There are no rules when it comes to plants.... All depends on your conditions. I've not had a single plant over several years that after pruning it or repotting in the winter that it died or I can say it was because of all of that
My aunt had a green thumb, she had a 6 ft pot across with the hugest split leaf philadandrinian i have ever seen before it was 8 ft heigh and 8 ft wide, she had placed fake birds on its stems, i have never seen one since that was 60 years ago
I'm also into "repot when needed" 😅 I wonder how do you prune this Jade, the grow patern is a bit different than the other you have so I'm really curious about it! Maybe a future video?
I need hint on how prune my jade gollum plants, they need a prune but I fear to cut them in the wrong way. Could you make a video on pruning this tipe of plant? I’ll really appreciate it 🙏🤞😉
Perfect timing Jeff. My Gollum needs to be repotted and I was wondering if I can do it in the winter time. I can put it on a south facing window so it should be doable?
Wow I am impressed with your Jade plants. I could never seem to hang onto them for very long. Girlfriends would whisk them away because they thought I couldn't possibly grow them. Then they would destroy them. Anyway, I have forgiven them....I think LOL. I have found jades in particular to be wonderful specimens. They do a monumental task for the environment. I know, I know carbon capture yadia-yadia. But it is erosion control that is of greater importance. They really hold tight onto the "soil." Hopefully, before time runs out, I will give them another try.
I've never pruned my jade plant. I am sooooooo chicken lol Watching your videos is giving me courage. I was wondering if i should give it a good watering before II try to take it out of the pot? Thank you.
Know this video is almost a year old, but hoping someone can answer! I just reported a couple of my jade plants in this soilless mixture. How often should they be fertilized with this gritty “soil”?
I would say the same as you would normally fertilize if it was in soil. Typically.... When I remember it's about once a month through the spring and summer
Jeff, I am getting a Gollum Jade after watching your video. Your Jades are breathtaking!!!!
Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy yours

Exactly....there are no "rules" when it comes to plants. Everyone has different growing conditions
The Gollum Jade is a beautiful specimen. Haven't seen one as large & mature as that ~ loving the tree shape!
Thanks Joanna!
Isn't it a lovely shape. I agree with you. 🤗🤩✅

All of your Jade plants look great!!!! Can’t wait for mine to get that big & full!!! 😎😎😎🪴🪴🪴

I always take those 'don't prune in the winter' as suggestions lol
I need a jade plant, all of yours are beautiful. I repot and fertilize all year long.
Awesome!
I have over 100 plants but i dont have a Jade. Its beautiful. I love the red sunstressed leaves. ❤
Are you going to get one now? Lol

I have a couple different size tubs like this to prevent any of the dirt or perlite going down the drain or at least as much as I can prevent it
You are the jade plant lord !!!
Lol..... Tell all your friends!
OMG did you hang a tire swing in that jade plant? Precious!!
It was actually a gift from some viewers in New York state.

I have a baby Gollum. Had no idea they grew so big! Yours is gorgeous.
Give them lots of light, a good drinking soil and water when they need it.... Then they grow to be little trees
I always so admire your Jade plants.
Wow, thank you
Beautiful plant! Love it.
Thanks so much 😊

I'm not worried about all those little fibrous roots....
Glad to hear yours is doing great as well
The upload of my Gollum Jade plant is in my shorts on my channel..
I just checked it out! It's amazing

Hi
I Love your videos
Because of very best information
Also your style of making videos
Thank you so much 😀
12:09 what is that little medallion you swung at the end?
It's a little tire swing that a viewer gave me for the jade! Lol
I'm also into "repot when needed" 😅

With the exception of a few branches growing downwards, I've never really pruned this one.

Jeff the soil you use for jades , can I use it for my money tree as well?
What was that next year that you planted your jade plant with. I would love to make some of my own
Perfect timing Jeff. My Gollum needs to be repotted and I was wondering if I can do it in the winter time. I can put it on a south facing window so it should be doable?
Definitely should be able to

I would say the same as you would normally fertilize if it was in soil. Typically.... When I remember it's about once a month through the spring and summer
Does that mix need fertilizer?
How long are you keeping your grow lights on for? And what time do you turn them on?
10-12 hours and I turn them on around 9am
So water before repotting not after repotting?
I waited until after repotting...now some people may choose to do it before lol
Hi im new subscriber
I want to ask my gollum jade they get wrinkle
Can u give tips how to care n how often watering it ?
I love your jade plants! Do you have the variegated one?
I did have a small one but I got rid of it a few years ago
I think I need to do that with my regular Jade. Where did you get the root rake? Is it linked in your Amazon store, or?
Yeah I got it off Amazon and I'm pretty sure it's in the accessories category
That jade plant looks quite different from mine
Это crassula ovata coral)
Yes....it is called by many different names. I've actually never heard it be called 'coral'. Thanks for sharing!
My jade tree turned black and it died idk what I did wrong 😭😭
I want to get another one but I don’t want it to die
Sounds like it rotted. What type of care did you give it? Did it get lots of sun?
@@EverythingPlants it had lots of sun in the spring and summer but since it’s getting colder here I bought it in then it started doing bad
@@lexnicoles did you cut back on watering when you brought it inside?
@@EverythingPlants I cut back on it a little it was my first jade tree and I thought I was overwatering it
