My young gollum jade died a while ago. Even though I had it in proper soil mix, ceramic pot and didn't overwater it, it still did succumb to root rot, which consumed the water-carrying core of the plant; this caused the entire plant to stop retaining water, which probably exasperated the over-watering issue as I couldn't quite understand why leaves remained soft and wrinkly despite taking care of it. After a while it stopped growing and all the leaves began to drop, you could see the brown rot coming out at the tips where the leaves connected. Luckily, I saved the healthy leaves, re-potted them and now I have a bunch of healthy, young gollum jade plantlets growing. Lessons have been learned!
You have all the jade goals, Jeff. Kinda makes me regret that I sold my first jade years ago coz it was getting too big. Lol. But I restarted last year with a gollum. Thanks for sharing! 😊
I've got over 200 rare Hoyas. Mealies are a given so I carry 90% Isopropyl & spray them when I see them. I rarely have issues, but they do pop up when I do a repotting. They come in some coconut husk & some certain brand soils.
Yours is the biggest G jade I have ever seen! Wow and the trunk! That grew so much in about 4 years! I have a small one and have had about 5 over all the years...so I will start caring for my little one more carefully! Super nice!
I live in Florida. In the summer, my jades do just fine in full sunlight for the lion's share of the day, after being acclimated over a month's time. Nice, informative video. Thanks.
I so appreciate this video and it's kind of crazy how well timed it was for me to find it. I have a gollum jade that has moved around with me for about 5 years but never had ideal conditions. Grew to about 8 inches tall and was starting to get the "tree" look. Then I gave it root rot... So I just decided to propagate and save it and this video is going to help me soooo much.
Ive had a gollum jade for like 3 years it was given to me by a succulent lady I use to know. I had no idea what it was called until just now, I just called it my pickle plant. I need to take better care or mine xD. thanks for the tips
That is awesome. I think Jade plants in general are probably one of the most shared plants out there. Every time someone talks about their Jade it was given to them by a family member or friend. These are also called shrek's ears lol
I'm with you on jade plants, I love them all! Yours are just awesome! 😍 My gollum is a pretty slow grower even though it's right in a west-facing window. That said, the window is frosted so I expect that cuts the light quite a bit. I'll try moving my jades outside for the summer. I have a spot on my east-facing terrace where they would get direct sun until about 13:00 and then part shade for the rest of the day. Might give me a growth spurt 🤞
I cannot believe that plant is only 4yrs old from such a small cutting!! I have one that is so slow growing. I love it, but it's still small. Hopefully I'll learn something from your video!
Funny thing about putting the plants outside in the summer-I live in the desert southwest of the US, and I can tell you that jade plants must be brought inside during the heat of summer! Portulacaria afra (elephant bush) is the only variety I know that can take the heat. I’ll have to find out about the Gollum variety. I usually wait until the temps start to hit 40º regularly, then the plants come inside until about November when they go back outside where they thrive until next year’s heat rolls around. When I first moved here from LA, I brought a huge jade plant that I proudly displayed on my front porch. It made it until about August, then I noticed it drooping a bit, then it happened very fast-within a week it seemed to actually melt, the entire plant seemed to lose its coherence and turned into a pile of brown mush. I cried-I’d had that plant for nearly 20 years, and it was too big to move inside-even cutting I took from the dying plant didn’t take. Now I keep them small, so that I can bring them inside.
I've read jade plants prefer dry air over humidity. Mine are outside all year in central Florida. They get about 4 hours direct morning sun then bright shade the rest of the day. So far so good. I also soak the jaded and let them dry completely.
Great video! I have several jade plant so I figured I’d try a gollum when I saw it. After six months my gollum wasn’t looking so great. I bought a bushy one but the center leaves died off. I’m going to use a single stem and see if I can grow it like my jade plants. I’m determined to make this work. Lol.
Beautiful plants. I have a huge gollum jade plant I've had it for going on five years now and I noticed that you suggested to not mist the leaves, I'm sry to not agree with you on that because what I do with my plants is try to mimic the normal growing conditions it would be in the wild. I mist my plants every morning around 4:00am to mimic the morning dew the plants would normally get in the wild. I've had no issues with any fungus or anything for like five years now, I guess it's the person's opinion who's growing. Great video! Have a great day fellow gardener 💚🌿💯🌵🌱🪴
@@EverythingPlants That's what I forgot to mention in my previous message. I always have fans blowing so you are right the air is constantly moving!👍💚🌿💯
I think I have a little gollum jade, I had no idea it was a jade plant though... just know it as Shrek ears. Mine is still tiny and has been sitting outside during summer with other succulents. Some of my succulents were being burnt by the sun so I moved then to a shadier spot but I'll be sure to move my jade back to a sunnier spot as it was not really negatively impacted by being in the sun. Thanks for the video, it's been very helpful
Great video. I love the gollum jade. They are so unique and beautiful. I’m wanting to prune mine back and do some propagation with the cuttings. Yours is really beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
rasing one from a leaf that I found, hopefully I can grow it into one of those stalky tree-like plants, gorgeous! I use the same succulent fertilizer for my bear paws and cuban oregano!
What a beauty! I am in love. I didn’t know they can become this big “tree like”. I would love to see your Succulent collection like a close up… How old is the Jade in the back?
I also have a 3 year old Gollum Jade, but it's about 5 inches tall/wide canopy 😂 I've never reported it, it's still in a 3 inch pot, but I'm reporting today!
Make sure you give it enough light as well. These plants love the heat and the sun 🌞 of course make sure you always acclimate your plants to higher light. Otherwise it'll burn the leaves which is not good lol
Thanks so much. My large old Jade I probably didn't change for like 8 years until recently lol. Now I will probably replace the soil ever 2-3 years. Once you notice it getting too solid or if you are having to water often then it is time to change it out.
Did you pluck the leaves from the bottom up to get that tree look? I have bought several with that look already, but I have several others with the leaves are all the way down to the bottom and they are growing full, but I want more of the tree look.
Thank you for the videos they are very informative! I was gifted a Jade plant that's absolutely beautiful. After watching your videos I am now thinking if I should repot the plant. First off, the pot is not porous, and doesn't have a drain hole. There are also about 6 plants in the same pot. I need your suggestion. I wish I could show you a picture.
Hello Jeff. You are the master of jade plants😀Beautiful gollum you have there. I have a small one as well it came in a coco fibre type of medium which is usually rock hard. I do not know when or if I need to repot mine because I cannot see any roots. Your looks glossier and greener than mine maybe because it got bleached by the sun last summer. Since, I moved it 1 foot back from the south facing Window.
Jades have really shallow roots so you probably won't see them poking out the bottom. If it hasn't grown for awhile, it may need some fresh soil or even fertilizer (if you haven't given any for awhile)
I recently got a very small gollum. It loves my south facing window sill for the winter. I’ll probably move it outside into a shady spot for the summer. It wrinkles when it needs water, then plumps back up after I water it.
Great content! How old are those small leaf clones around the base and when/how do you remove them to their own pots? What's the age of the main, big plant? (Now, I need one of these gollums!)
WOW! I really needed this video!! Thank you!! I got mine along with 2 mini jades at Walmart for $.50 each. They're small but healthy, have outgrown little plastic pots. I watered them so now do I wait till dry to put in clay pots??? I have the cactus soil. Can I put little rocks on top or not?? My clay pots are hydropainted. Is that ok?😮 I sound desperate huh? I am because I watched too many videos before finding yours😊 Please reply🙏❤
I brought around 13 cactus for 2 pound in a sale...i put the all in one flat large pot. Put them in the corner of my living room. 4 years later it was like a mini jungle. In the middle was a collum jade. It about 9 inches high look beautiful. That had no sunlight so I'm lucky
Great video and very informative! I have 2 - 4inch jade plants ready to be repotted but debating between a 5 or 6inch terracotta pot. The soil appears abit compacted & unsure if I should moisten it first prior to repotting.
@@EverythingPlants Yes, I decided on the 6inch pots to give the jade more room because they're top heavy and I waited to water a week later. Hope to get them as big as yours!!😀
I have one of these and it’s been in a south facing window sill all winter but I’ll move it to my east window in the summer I don’t think it withstand the south window during the intense Oklahoma sun during the summer.
When these plants have been outside for the summer and need to be taken back inside for the autumn and wintertime, do you quarantine them first or do you repot them? I am hesitant to put mine outside because of bugs and pests… Another fantastic and informative video, thanks Jeff! 😃🪴
I did quarantine the one that I took outside a couple years ago. I am also worried about bugs coming in....I will be doing a bit more research on the types of products that are safe for jades.
Hey thanks for this,I have a question please…I have a tree like yours only bigger and over winter it lost loads of leaves this continued for couple months so I checked for root rot by cutting the trunk…it was correct thing to do as there was rot climbing up bottom of trunk,so 2 weeks ago I ended up with 2 very large cuttings( each one about the size of your tree…I let it callous over and yesterday after research I potted it up up into a slightly damp mix of orchid bark gravel and tiny bit of compost….my question is WHEN do I dare give it its first drink?!…it is under grow lights by the way, what would you do next please.
I would wait a couple days and lightly water near the stem to encourage root growth. You don't need to soak all of the soil because there are no roots to utilize the water, so light waterings only otherwise rot on the stem will happen again. Keep me posted!
Your gollum jade plant is beautiful. I was gifted a Jade plant in a round Ceramic pot with out drainage holes, how do I get the plant out of the pot without breaking the pot? I would like to keep the pot.
Very informative video. I just bought my first gollum jade plant a week ago. I did not know what kind of plant it was when I bought it, I just liked the plant. My leaves are starting to get a little brown on the outside edges, but I am not sure why. Any advice would be appreciated.
I have the gollum Jade plant I bought it at the farmers market for 2.50 and well I forgot to water it for a long time (out of sight, out of mind) and it had mealy bugs, Ugh! I’m in the process of saving it and I moved it to where I can see it daily. So far so good I didn’t lose a leaf. I have a variegated Jade Plant do you have one or have you saw it? Can you do a video on it? Mine is green, white and pink variegation.
I used to have a variegated one, but sold it because I had too many jades at the time. Lol Is there anything specific you'd like to see in a video? I do have many other jade videos on my channel as well!
Great video. Thanks. I have an overgrown Gollum that has started sagging and falling over. May I please have a suggestion as to what to do? Thank you for any input.
I recently got 3 jade plants, the OG, the variegated og, and a gollum. I want the variegated gollum at some point, my goal is to eventually get a really big pot, put them all together and create a mini forest with other succulents peppered in.
Great video! My mom gifted me one of these and it was a little neglected since she didn’t know what it was. It’s been doing a lot better in my care but a branch fell off! I stuck it in soil and got another plant out of it, but do you know why that happened and how to prevent it in the future? Thanks!
Hello Juliette! I have never had an entire branch fall off. I can see that happening if that branch was too heavy....I don't know how larger this plant is, but that can definitely happen. If the main plant doesn't look well then it may have gotten some root rot perhaps and dropped a branch...???
My Gollum is kind of puckered, the leaves are that is. is there any trick to getting them back to bright green and full? I have been trying to starve it then water it and I have tried giving it regular water but nothing seems to make the leaves fill out. I don’t know how to attach a pic here would love to show u. It’s a big one. Thanks for your content
We have a Gollum and a Crassula. They are both planted outside and about the size of 2 wine barrels, each. I have no idea where to start for pruning! lol!
Are you referring to the woody stem? Yes, as they grow and age they become like a tree. Some pruning along the way may be required to clean it up a bit. But make sure to give it all the proper care and all you have to do is wait haha
Thanks for this video! My Gollum Jade leaves are dark green and wrinkly and I can’t figure out what might be going on. I definitely don’t over water it. Might you have any ideas? Thank you!
Okay, I just have to come back here and say that I did everything you said in this video (transplanted it into a terra cotta pot, gave it a thorough soaking… I had been afraid of overwatering it so had been giving it sips of water here and there… turns out I wasn’t giving it enough water, and put it in a south facing window… I had it in a north facing window previously) and a week later the leaves are all bright green and plump! Thank you so much for all the info in this video!!!
Could you tell me how tall the Gollum Jade plant is/was in this video? I've bought one that is about the same size, I think, and want to know what size pot to use. Thanks.
Nice plant…I have a small one ….actually there are two stems in my pot. It’s in S facing window and it looks healthy but it’s very slow growing; I’ve had it for a few years. The smaller of the two stems is leaning towards one side probably because of spacing so I’m wondering if I should try and separate them. 🤔They were together when I got the plant and I potted them up together over a year ago. I hate to mess it up but I may take a look at the way the roots are situated and then decide. I saw one at a nursery once that was a 3 foot shrub….it was huge!
Most times the stems lean because of the weight of the leaves in proportion to the thin stems. Over time, and with pruning, the stem will strengthen. I guess it depends on what you want the end goal of the plant...tree form or multiple stems in one pot. If you want the tree form then it will probably be easier now to separate it and let it heal and grow.
Great video thanks! My gollum jade's only small at the moment, but I hope it'll turn into a tree like yours! You said you can take them outside in summer - Is it okay to take them outside on sunny days and then bring them back inside every evening during summer? I did that last year and it didn't die, but I think I read somewhere it can shock the plants if you move them indoors and outdoors a lot? UK summers (at least where I live) aren't warm enough to keep succulents outdoors all summer and I really don't want to kill my gollum jade this year!😅
That seems like a lot of work lol. Maybe try it for one season outside starting with a shady spot and moving it to a brighter spot. See if it responds to the summer heat and sun. If not then keep it indoors...I've only taken mine outside one summer (one plant) otherwise they do great indoors for me. Just give it time and it will get larger. Good luck!
Jades can handle colder weather. I think they prefer it. I live in central Florida and we get into the low 40s and upper 30s at night sometimes in late winter. The do fine. I would bring them in if it got down to freezing 32°. It almost never does so mine stay outside all year.
i struggle with succulents in general apart from the Jade ovata i live on the south coast of England about 150 yards from the coast and due to the salt air i feel i cannot put house plants outside but keeping them indoors they still die on me i suppose i will have to use more grow lights but my question is Succulents that need to colour up do they do that under grow lights also what colour lights are the best is white lights sufficient for the job
Help! I've had my Gollum Jade tree for over twenty years now. The leaves are starting to fall off and a lot of them are shriveling up. My routine is the same. When this started occurring, I felt it needed more sun, so it's now closer to my southern window to receive more sunlight. I am using regular soil and I do fertilize it a few times a year. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I love this plant and I'm hoping to bring it back to life. Thanks.
Lots of helpful advise, thanks so much. Two questions, first I bought a little gollum at Home Depot and it has what looks like 3 plants In the pot, should I separate them? Second, last summer I put my regular jade outside and it did great. I even left it out in any rain. Total novice, is that okay? Or did I dodge a bullet? Thanks.
If you want like the individual tree forms then you can seperate them or keep them all together and get a bushy one. Both are super cool. Don't forget you can keep the busy one and once it starts to grow you can always take cuttings and start a single stem one down the road. Totally okay to leave them in the rain, but if it's a lot of lime a few days then I've just placed mine in the shed so it doesn't drown them. Rain water is best though!
I have a Gollum Jade the same size as your big one. Its in a vert large pot. I bought it like that. I was told it was recently transfered to this very big pot. I mean its huge. Would you suggest putting it in a smaller pot like yours?? What is that 7-8 inches? Thank you
From my experience Jades don't like high temperatures. Even if acclimated these will get damaged. in my area temperatures go up to 114 F so I keep them in a location where these get only morning sunlight and full shade in the afternoon.
Ive had this gollum jade since summer time and now some of the leaves get shriveled and fall off... what am I doing wrong? Lol I would love to know! I will check for root rot.
@@EverythingPlants No it isn't! I have it under and LED light now in the kitchen. I live in WA with no sunlight and no windows for it to sit in the sun. And I would love to share a photo of my mom's jade!
I have a rather large gollum jade that is at least 20 years old that I inherited. The problem with it is that the branches are bent over. I'd like to somehow get it to start growing upright. I'm also afraid to drastically prune it. some of the branches seem to be growing roots too. I need help and encouragement as this was my mother's plant.
@@EverythingPlants no, I don’t have one. I do plan on getting one though, so far, I haven’t seen any in my local plant shops. I was thinking that you and Fern could do a trade, possibly a colab??? 😁. She just had to completely propagate her whole trailing Jade plant. Just a thought 😄
Hi There, I need an urgent help. My Gollum jade loosing the leaves when I move it. The leaves pretty much in good shapes. Just wondering how can I contact you to shop the plant and get some advice ?
Hi please could you help mine is droopy due to forgetting to water it in the summer its perked up now but the trunk is still floppy and holding it up with chop sticks it's been like this for just over a month any idea when the trunk will firm up? Thank you
Is it possible for a jade plant to have both spade and gollum shapes? I just took a cutting from a big bush which I thought (visually) was a regular spade shaped jade plant and found out the cuttings itself was gollum shaped!
I’m so confused. I’m a new plant parent and have been hearing or reading that jade plants are summer dormant. I got mine last spring and they are outside in full sun until yesterday when I moved them to east side with morning sun and afternoon shade. I live in Kansas. They were growing a lot but seemed to stop. Did I put them in dormancy?
Hey Stella. I have never heard of Jades going dormant in the summer. How did your jade do in full sun? Did it burn the leaves at all? Jades like the sun, but even more they like the heat. I doubt you put them into dormancy....they will on;y grow a certain amount each year.
Totally okay and I know a lot of people do this to prevent fungus gnats from growing on their soil. I'm guessing you are wanting to just for a decorative look?
@@EverythingPlants thank you, actually I despise those little bits of white vermiculite? That float up to the top of the soil, and was thinking pebbles might be a good way to prevent that! Ha! Love your plant tips and videos!
I have a very large Gollum Jade tree in a clay pot that got oversoaked with rainwater. Unable to change the soil due to its size and weight. It's no longer green. What can I do to revive this beautiful tree?
I have a hobbit jade which started out having leaves like this gollum jade. I am not sure if they are the same but my leaves used to be shaped like that but slowly over time they loin like regular had leaves now. Did I do something to it. I know I have not cared for it as well as I should.
Jeff, I pulled my gollum out of its tiny pot because I thought it was dead, but then I noticed it is rooting along its stem. It is currently sitting in rain water. what should I do to save it? Thanks!
That's a tough one to give advice without seeing the plant. Feel free to send a picture to my Instagram (@everything_plants_ca). Otherwise, I'd say just keep it in the water and continue to go roots.
I always love watching your Jade plant videos. I have the Gollum one and the Crassula one. I had it one year now. I cannot wait to see mine when i get the thick trunks i grow mine indoors so taking longer to achieve but in no rush. I also use the cotton bud method to clean plants that are hard to get in with a cloth. I love when they become sun stressed has a lovely reddish hues to them. Yours look more green in colour. Do you know why they sometimes look wrinkled looking? I only water them why they need too? Could it be the air in your environment aswell? During the cold seasons i do have the central heating on. I just uploaded my plant collection please check it out. Thank you.
Hey Mandi! I will definitely check out your collection today. This plant has only ever been indoors as well. I think I may take it outside in the summer and let it flourish. It honestly seemed like it did nothing for the first two years then exploded. If they soil is dry and has been dry for awhile, then I would say they are dehydrated. I try and avoid them getting wrinkled like that by testing the leaves like in the video. Don't forget to fertilize if you don't already.
My jade plant is over 15 yrs old and is dropping leaves and branches actually shriveled and dropping off. What the problem? I water it once every week or two. No bright light thou. What can I do to fix this please thankyou
I think you answered your own question......it needs bright light and that watering frequency sounds a bit too often to me. Feel free to send a picture to my Instagram

The gollum is such a cool one. If it gets too large next time, just prune it to the size you want!
Haven’t seen any other plant enthusiasts with a jade plant this beautiful. I did purchase a variegated one, it’s still very small.
Those ones are really nice as well. I did have one, but I choose to sell it as I had to cut down on the amount of Jades that I owned hahaha
I have one this size though it doesn’t look quite that good. But it took about 4 years for mine to get to this size.

Really enjoyed this…love jades too…trying to bonsai some…appreciate all the info… very helpful
Glad it was helpful! I hope you stick around for more videos Patti!
Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for in a video. Thanks so much!!
I'm with you on jade plants, I love them all! Yours are just awesome! 😍
My gollum is a pretty slow grower even though it's right in a west-facing window. That said, the window is frosted so I expect that cuts the light quite a bit.
I'll try moving my jades outside for the summer. I have a spot on my east-facing terrace where they would get direct sun until about 13:00 and then part shade for the rest of the day. Might give me a growth spurt 🤞
That is awesome! Be sure to put them in full shade at first, otherwise those leaves will roast.
Just make sure you don’t fry it. Take outside in shaded spot and later on introduce to morning light then morning sun then longer periods of sun.
I have a small specimen of this plant and wondered what it was. Thanks so much for the info.
Glad it was helpful! I hope you stick around for more videos!
I cannot believe that plant is only 4yrs old from such a small cutting!! I have one that is so slow growing. I love it, but it's still small. Hopefully I'll learn something from your video!

Thank you so much for showing the small white deposits I was really concerned it was bugs!
No problem...completely normal!
Great video! I have several jade plant so I figured I’d try a gollum when I saw it. After six months my gollum wasn’t looking so great. I bought a bushy one but the center leaves died off. I’m going to use a single stem and see if I can grow it like my jade plants. I’m determined to make this work. Lol.

I have never had any issues either, but the key is proper air flow so water doesn't sit on the leaves. Thanks Joey

@@Joey-vw1id Will do!
I am glad you liked the video. How old is your gollum now?
Great video. I love the gollum jade. They are so unique and beautiful. I’m wanting to prune mine back and do some propagation with the cuttings. Yours is really beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Spring is almost here and perfect for pruning!
rasing one from a leaf that I found, hopefully I can grow it into one of those stalky tree-like plants, gorgeous! I use the same succulent fertilizer for my bear paws and cuban oregano!
Great video. Good information.
Thanks so much Karen!
What a beauty! I am in love. I didn’t know they can become this big “tree like”. I would love to see your Succulent collection like a close up…
How old is the Jade in the back?
Hey Martha! The old one in the back is about 14 years old....I think. I honestly can't even remember where I bought it from lol That is so terrible
@@EverythingPlants thanks! It's in a quite sunny east facing window at work 😊
Great video! Where did you purchase your light sensor?
Hello Pierre. I got it from Amazon. I do have the links in the description of this video for Canada and USA
@@EverythingPlants Thanks
Great video. Thanks for the info.
You bet! Thanks for watching Amy!
That’s a beautiful plant. I have one about 3 inches tall. I killed the first one I had, but so far this one is good.
Keep up the good work!!!
Your jade plants are amazing Jeff. I wish I had your green thumb. How often do you change out the soil?
Hey Lina! Feel free to send me a picture on Instagram at everything_plants_ca
@@EverythingPlants thank you. Will keep an eye 👁 on things these summer
Wow! So nice I kill many time like that plant, is that also a jade plant?
Yes! It is a Gollum jade
I recently got a very small gollum. It loves my south facing window sill for the winter. I’ll probably move it outside into a shady spot for the summer. It wrinkles when it needs water, then plumps back up after I water it.
AWESOME!
Great content! How old are those small leaf clones around the base and when/how do you remove them to their own pots? What's the age of the main, big plant?
(Now, I need one of these gollums!)
I still have those small leaves in the pot and I think they are probably about a year and a half old. The main tree is about 6 years old
Wow, that is pretty cool! Nice work.
@@EverythingPlants thank you. I have now put it in a pot by itself. Hope it survives . Be great if I could add pictures.. Great video my friend
Great video and very informative! I have 2 - 4inch jade plants ready to be repotted but debating between a 5 or 6inch terracotta pot. The soil appears abit compacted & unsure if I should moisten it first prior to repotting.
Hey Annette....sorry for the late reply. Did you end up repotting it?
@@EverythingPlants
Yes, I decided on the 6inch pots to give the jade more room because they're top heavy and I waited to water a week later. Hope to get them as big as yours!!😀
I have one of these and it’s been in a south facing window sill all winter but I’ll move it to my east window in the summer I don’t think it withstand the south window during the intense Oklahoma sun during the summer.
I have sheer curtains that I normally use in the summer for this reason as well. It gets hot here in Saskatchewan during the summer months.
@@EverythingPlants thank you! It would be nice to put them outside and see then grow!
It’s in terracotta pot
I would wait a couple days and lightly water near the stem to encourage root growth. You don't need to soak all of the soil because there are no roots to utilize the water, so light waterings only otherwise rot on the stem will happen again. Keep me posted!
I heard trumpet jade too
Your gollum jade plant is beautiful. I was gifted a Jade plant in a round Ceramic pot with out drainage holes, how do I get the plant out of the pot without breaking the pot? I would like to keep the pot.
I use a butter knife to loosen up the soil around the edges and try to pry it out that way. Congrats on your new plant!
Very informative video. I just bought my first gollum jade plant a week ago. I did not know what kind of plant it was when I bought it, I just liked the plant. My leaves are starting to get a little brown on the outside edges, but I am not sure why. Any advice would be appreciated.
Please talk about the plant next to the gollum jade plant. Can’t find it in the plant stores
Which one and when in the video....to help narrow it down for me lol
Do you have a video on how to get the gollum jade to branch?
Loving your care of the Gollum Jade. Wanted to know what is the composition of soil you use. Thanks. Suresh😊
I recently got 3 jade plants, the OG, the variegated og, and a gollum. I want the variegated gollum at some point, my goal is to eventually get a really big pot, put them all together and create a mini forest with other succulents peppered in.
That would actually look pretty sweet I think

When is it the best time to prune i live in Soutwest florida? is it safe to do it in the summer
I recently just pruned mine and I'm in Canada. They are good to prune in the spring and summer months. Good luck!
@@EverythingPlants It amazing how thick your plant is thank you so much for your videos they are super helpful
We have a Gollum and a Crassula. They are both planted outside and about the size of 2 wine barrels, each. I have no idea where to start for pruning! lol!
I purchased one of these and its quite smaller than yours and i wonder do all develop the tree like trunk ???
Oh nice work Becca! I was going to say try giving it a good soaking and then let it dry out. I hope this plant grows well for you
Could you tell me how tall the Gollum Jade plant is/was in this video? I've bought one that is about the same size, I think, and want to know what size pot to use. Thanks.
The Jade is about 18 in tall and the pot is about 6 to 7 in wide
Thanks excellent
You are welcome, Michael
Good luck!
@@EverythingPlants It sounds like more effort than it was lol! And thank you - I'll try that out this year and also try to be patient 😄👍
Thanks.
When was the last time you repotted it?
@@EverythingPlants It's been about three years so I think its time to repot. Thanks
How do you combat the black fungus they can get? All I know is to remove leaves that have it.
Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I’m watching several of your videos and learning so much!

Can you tell me why my Gollum Jade, as it got older, turned into a regular jade looking plant?
I have a Gollum Jade the same size as your big one. Its in a vert large pot. I bought it like that. I was told it was recently transfered to this very big pot. I mean its huge. Would you suggest putting it in a smaller pot like yours?? What is that 7-8 inches? Thank you
From my experience Jades don't like high temperatures. Even if acclimated these will get damaged. in my area temperatures go up to 114 F so I keep them in a location where these get only morning sunlight and full shade in the afternoon.
114 f is pretty hot LOL. I'm sure you'll be watering those like twice a day
Ive had this gollum jade since summer time and now some of the leaves get shriveled and fall off... what am I doing wrong? Lol I would love to know! I will check for root rot.
Is it getting enough light where it is now?

Hi, my Gollum jade is losing her leaves and branches are breaking down, I added new soil on top and then she started to do this 😢
What kind of soil did you add on top?
For cactus and succulent
Is it possible for a jade plant to have both spade and gollum shapes? I just took a cutting from a big bush which I thought (visually) was a regular spade shaped jade plant and found out the cuttings itself was gollum shaped!
How do you propagate this gollum?
You should use API water conditioner.
Any thoughts on placing an layer of small pebbles, such as washed pea gravel on top of the soil of succulent plants?
Totally okay and I know a lot of people do this to prevent fungus gnats from growing on their soil. I'm guessing you are wanting to just for a decorative look?
@@EverythingPlants thank you, actually I despise those little bits of white vermiculite? That float up to the top of the soil, and was thinking pebbles might be a good way to prevent that! Ha! Love your plant tips and videos!
