Star Citizen - February State Of The Verse

- Hey everyone, it's been an unsurprisingly uneventful month over in the lands of Star Citizen so far this month, however one thing that did come creeping up to break up the boredom of playing "Open PTU Watch" was the teasing and revealing of the new RSI Scorpius Antares, a new variant of the RSI Scorpius which trades in the Scorpius remote turret controlled by the copilot, for a brand new EMP Generator and Quantum Enforcement Device.
There's many opinions on this new thing from "TAKE MY MONEY DADDY PLZZZZ UWU" to "What the hell are these guys thinking? Cool, can I have S9 Torps on an Aurora variant and also 1kSCU, thnx"
So with the very little going on this month outside of saying "Hey yall, the PTU is now open to all backers", this months video is going to be centered around the new Scorpius Antares.

A dev confirmed on screen, probably accidentally that cigs marketing department says what ships are built. It’s not even a guess, a dev told us he needs permission from marketing. This is not a game designed by devs, it’s designed by a marketing team, devs just are forced to die inside a little each day having there hands tied behind there back everyday.
Running a company is more parts of successful business and less parts of happy devs.
Do you want them to create great ships items and things the devs envision, and see SC unable to sustain its development and die in 3 months or meagre ships with sometimes something great in between but a sustained development ?
And if you have a better middle ground, please feel free to apply to CIG for head of marketing since you clearly have a better and more profitable idea in mind.
CIG is 60% Marketing Department.
Look at their payroll.
Of COURSE marketing is driving the game.
@@cryonim Black & White fanboys are a waste of space.
It isn't an "either or" situation.
What a silly silly argument.
@@lordfraybin Do I sound either or ? I replied why devs don't run the company, marketing does, and that they limit what can be done and what has to be prioritized. There's no space for either or.
Also what made you deduce I'm a fanboy ? The fact that I replied why marketing is more important is enough for you to conclude I'm a fanboy ?
Great deduction skills bro.
@@cryonim You literally wrote: do you want them to X or Z.
Feels like my Aurora LN is starting to look a little underpowered
My favorite part is always how "What do you mean that in pursuit of being everything to everyone for the highest possible profit, the game overpromises with self-contradictory goals that will inevitably leave one group betrayed?! You can play however you want! You can just be a space trucker, and don't have to do combat! What do you mean combat is forced on you, it's not at all! Now, let me get into my ridiculously overpriced ship that is explicitly designed solely to grief peasants who don't want to do combat featuring devices that are tailor-made for forcing non-combat ships into combat. No, the game totally doesn't now have jump point bottlenecks in this formerly wide open universe by making everyone go to the same routes just to satisfy the whales who bought these things with high chances of seals to club. Why yes, I DID spend more money just to get the latest meta turret weapons to ensure that skill is no factor during my pay-to-win spree, how did you know?!"
Also, why the hell would the co-pilot get nothing but the "push a button to make the combat happen" button, then sit back and do nothing? I have trouble understanding how even CIG couldn't think of putting the turrets under the co-pilot's control. I guess when they eventually get NPC crew members in around 2050, that might be fine, but that fails the "five year old can point out the problems with this in three seconds of thought" test they should already have instituted from the Evil Overlord's Checklist.
Long time since I've heard your take on star citizen . Your Always honest , telling it like it is . there's alot of truth in humor !
He is a whale that got burned and can't get over it. I find that to be hilarious.
Game balancing is going to be hilarious if SC ever comes out… 🤡
But I thought Chris said it's not pay-to-win? 😱😏
@@RuSosan Customers are paying, and Chris is winning...
This game's arbitrary i.e. non-unified, features are UNBALANCEABLE. Utterly broken concept, that needs a features reboot i.e. get rid of ludicrous Tractor Beam Gun and put the Hand Back In i.e. tactile gameplay. Make mobiGlas Great Again i.e. holographic wrist device you can a) read and b) aim, ffs.
Relax Clod Imperium Games will never release a single game no worries
The game is already out. If it wasn't they would be sue by Europeans left and right
The camural example is the best, it shows how the constant dissapointments of cig scares off their best testers and backers. A lot of old backers from 2012/ 2013 have turned into sceptical critics! And thats what I celebrate the most, more and more people waking up and can finally see the scam we saw years ago 😂👍🏽
...all while you throw money at Activision and Epic who resell you the same games and concepts as everybody else.

It sounds like Camural has QUIT. He is at his lowest ebb. Done.
CIG probably did some testing on the new flight model and found out the only way to catch someone that doesn't want to fight, is to use the OP Antares .
The game doesn't even have buildable/purchasable storage containers after $500,000,000 and 10 years but damn if they don't have some ships to sell.
Marketing team goes "brrrrr!"
After the definitive ship when it comes to modularity, we are now getting the definitive ship in emp stuff.
Of course, only as a variant, for mo' money! (best read in Mr Krabs voice, but dont post on spectrum, or your post will be deleted).
It is astonishing how obvious they go for the money.
And if you ask yourself "what do they need the money for?"
Just take a look at the Inside Star Citizen videos: the set is build with your money.
And it wasnt cheap.
I'm not surprised by the Antares, I suspect CIG will sooner or later go over other ships where the mechanic was previously used as excuse to kneecap them in other arease.
For example, many of the profession ships have no combat ability to speak of, while even the older concepts like the Reclaimer and a lot of haulers have somewhat reasonable components and weapons. Or the Eclipse, they'll surely cash in on hurr durr torpedo again.
I dont think it "really" matters in the grand scheme of things, because at the end of the day combat will likely be just a fireworks display where the side with more/bigger ships wins and any small/medium ship just explodes trying to go near.
CIG doesn't just fail to balance ships with each other, there never was any sort of Game Design balance overall. In other games, players find holes in game design to exploit until they get patched, but for CIG that's pretty much the game design or lack thereof.
Been a while, but I'm glad I came back to watch FTR
wow i forgot about this game thanks for the vid
Instead of tackling the 20+ years worth of backlog ships needing to be updated to gold standard, we get blatant money-grabs.. OF COARSE1!!1
I sincerely miss your take on things
Mantis being a 1-man ship, right? So makes sense to have a multi-crew version of this. But I've heard the ship is pretty bad, 2nd pilot just having the EMP button to press?
There is no balancing, online game progression is always about the next shiny, in CIG's case it's regardless of whether the first-gen ships have been finished yet. That money has been spent so they need fresh money, therefore the marketing is always "oh look next ship I this one will be better than the last one ( that doesn't;t work yet), buy now features later, we promise."
Never trust a guy who doesn't hate at least a few things, excluding hating other peoples critiques. Super positive people make me sick bcuz they're usually out of touch with reality.
Lmao
It's usually indicative of infantile narcissism. THe white knights are like little girls. 'My ego is so fragile, and overinflated, that in order to survive, I must maintain that I am perfect and flawless in every way, and as such, any decision that I make is always 100% right, and infallable. To criticize CIG, is to criticize me, and I am perfect, which means CIG are perfect, and I cannot function if my delusion is threatened.'
The worst part IMO is the community. Bcause of what CIG actually are, and their shady practices, many of the community feel overwhelmingly comepelled to ovecompensate.
It's like watching a group of bratty narcissists at a bus stop waiting for a bus that's out of service. They've paid a massive premium, and because they can't just leave they get visciously hostile towards anyone who even looks their way with so much as a smirk.
'This is the best bus service in the world, if you dare imply otherwise, you must be burned at the stake'
Who wants to wait at that bus stop, let alone get on the bus the rare occasion one arrives and is in service, even for just one stop.
Imma get on that Starfield bus when they're finished implementing it and enjoy a VIP, no ques, no BS, theme park experience. Hopefully the threat of a superior service will compell CIG to pull finger, though I personally won't be holding my breath.
The Anteres is a GREAT reason to spend $65 on StarField instead.
You be spitting GOOD facts!
If CIG wants more money. They NEED to give players a reason to purchase older ships. Cough Cough CIG! Update the older crap!
Also, EMP got nerfed again!
That's it! Let's add QED and EMP to all ships. Freelancer first lol 🤣🤣🤣
I would love for older ships to all be modernized enough to be appealing and not see backers or CIG needing a new shiny to buy/sell
@@FailureToReport Over 10 years worth of work to get older ships updated if they keep ignoring them
Have you stopped making your monthly report?
for realsies tho. it really do be that way
It does not have an interdiction device and will probably require 2 people to use the new tech. Also wtf the cutlass Steele is fuckin awesome 😆
Antares QED :
Name: Tidelock QED
Item Type: Quantum Enforcement Device
Manufacturer: RSI
Size: 3
The Tidelock Quantum Enforcement Device was internally designed by Roberts Space Industries specifically for the Scorpius Antares. The carefully crafted design contains both a Quantum Snare for pulling crafts out of quantum travel and a Quantum Dampener for preventing quantum drive activation.
And the Steel is horrible. The only thing it brings is a slightly more affordable USD dropship since CIG decided for some reason one of the most useless ship types in the current game should have a huge role tax, and all other drop ships carrying more than 3 people should be $350 plus cause reasons.
When do you believe Star Citizen will start beta and/or Squadron42 release? Genuinely curious for your honest opinion on the matter.
Great video, thanks.
Next year SQ42 gets released, this guy forks over $1500 for an idris, watch.
They deliberately create ships that overlap and out perform others to trick backers into thinking they need to buy the new shiny .jpg. All about emptying your pockets you fools. It's actually a brilliant buisness model all be it shady as F.
Yeahh, there's one department in CIG that is lightyears ahead of the industry, and it's their marketing team. They're a Cancer to Star Citizen's backers, but in terms of doing their job, which is to milk their users, they are in a league of their own.
CIG more worried about making sales then they are combat balance
CIG never fails to throw other ships completely under the bus and make them totally obsolete.
I feel equally sorry for the devs who have to try and balance all this crap as I do the people who are still waiting for ships they backed YEARS ago to come out of development limbo.
Great video Dude...
The mechanics are going to be important to be able to catch ships. The question is: Why get a Mantis when this exists?
I love seeing more E-war options but this thing is coming into an unopposed niche, no doubt it will be broken on release and then will be nerfed immediately after the community demonstrates just how broken it is. These features will have a place eventually and this is a cool idea for a variant but there needs to be a more complete E-war feature set and overhaul to old ships before something (seemingly) this powerful can be balanced.
This game needs a complete rework but it’s taken them a decade to get to this point. At least we’re past the days of random feature creep but it seems like the game is a shell of the idea it was back in 14. There’s almost no fun gameplay loops anywhere fighting is unsatisfying walking around exploring is fun when it’s not broken which is most times and cargo and mining are just wose versions of elite dangerous a game that’s been famous for being boring as hell to play. Chris started with a hard sci-fi space shooter and realized the real money was with the second life crowd. They don’t need gameplay or good optimization just a place to live out the fantasy which is kinda ruined now because the irl rich people own the best ships and the poors are still poor in the verse like yeah you have an aurora instead of a 97 ford fiesta but how much of an upgrade is that really lol I think this game is going to disappoint everyone the whales will have no new players to brag to because they all got tired of doing nothing and paying hundreds just to have a ship you can respawn in while all the fun in trolling and fighting have been nerfed now the cargo guys get to put 250 actual crates in the back and hope the whole thing doesn’t crash the sever I’m still waiting on the hab pod for my retaliator still. I think I actually had more fun before the pre alpha days when you could only look at the ships from the hangar at least you felt like one day it was gonna be a blast
So if you already own a mantis etc just melt it and pay the difference to upgrade to this ship. Easy fix.
Why? YOu won't be able to use the QED without a co-pilot. You would have a completely useless ship unless you have a copilot.
The hilarity of the Antares being more or less useless in the game is quite something. Due to the fact that you could just as easily fly it out solo with a wingman in the Sentinel if you wanted an EMP and/or a Mantis if you wanted an interdictor, the ship serves no purpose in the game. Tying someone to the electronic warfare suite is absolutely necessary for balance and yet it makes the ship pointless, because there are ships that can provide the individual aspects of that suite (other than the jammer) while also providing additional firepower and an additional target for the enemies to worry about. Your suggestion to make it a single-seater with a pilot-controlled jammer is the only way this ship could be worthwhile instead of being simultaneously overloaded and useless...
" does this game need this? or that?" like who knows? we dont even know what the game is gonna be.. pressure them to give us atleast sense of what the core gameplay loops are
Hmmm how did I miss this...
Another classic case of..."If you buy this...YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! STOP IT!"
Does this mean every ship can have a fucking EMP variant? ahah
Remember when the game was actually about multi crew ships.
At this point? Barely...
SC has for a time has been stearing towards becoming the new EvE Online.
Stop having fun
Still waiting for the March State of the Verse :(
I think the title is wrong. This is not an update on the verse but a rant about the Antares. In my opinion, if u dont like the Antares, don't buy it :)
I really wish cig would stop creating ganker eve ships . Only added to game to ruin the rest of us living our best space life ..
I completely agree, I'm not sure why they keep wanting to make space combat more and more absurd. I would give anything to go back to zoomy shooty fun in space. Ships were agile, guns had diversity (sure they weren't all equal, but that's a balance issue, don't just homogenize everything.) and there weren't all these stupid gimmicks. I remember the first time CIG added a dumb ass combat gimmick, and the community fucking hated it (swarmer missiles), then came EMPs (probably so they could push their Optane partnership) that were broke as fuck and the community hated it until it was nerfed, and while Quantum Jammers/Interdictors haven't been met with the same kind of hatred as the first two, I honestly think that is because of the ships that have access to them. No one is sweating a Mantis and they are incredibly rare, and the Cutlass Blue might not be as rare as the Mantis, but gankers aren't out roaming Stanton in a Blue so it hasn't been an issue either.
This thing though? I could see it having a much larger impact on the PU than the Mantis or Blue have had. Time will tell, and if all the devices are controlled by a copilot, maybe that will be enough to avoid the kind of impact this ship could have had if CIG went full "gib money" mode and this thing had any sort of pilot controlled devices.....or maybe it won't matter. Who knows.
True. New ships won't help the game development go faster. They will keep players interested in the game and yes they can be a source of income. I would rather they focus on getting the game done and add new ships later, but that may not be the best strategy. Develooment will take time and they need to keep the money flowing to keep the development going.
11 years and half a billion dollars. They've had the money and the time. People are finally realizing CIG doesn't have the talent.
how to show CIG how we don't want this ship dont buy it
Why do you care anymore ?
Even If it's gonna be ever relesed, it's gonna be a pay-to-win hellhole eitherway.
Lots of people make money on hate-clicks and hate-bait.
Ah yes a Content creator who isnt disillusioned by the cult like following of this game. I love the concept of this game but its the worse money grabbing game design the market has seen outside of EA titles i wish they would just focus on the game and not more ships for the sake of money this game has no future if it continues this way.
Its a big middle finger to backers, again. CIG cash grab and I hope its double price make pay to win players PAY$$$
So basically they are making this EVE Online, which is why I stopped playing that game because its worthless to have a ship that cant move or go anywhere while they shoot you apart....
I gotta say, I love your videos. However, nobody is forced to spend real money on the game. It is a choice. If the Antares sells, so be it.
The issue isn't really "hey gotta buy this" unless it's so strong it becomes a meta boat, but the issue is whether people buy it a ton or not, it's gonna be in the game and it's features are just a flying cancer boat
that's technically true but still disingenuous, as we are all aware of predatory tactics and behavior, and the harsh impact it deals to the ecosystem and perception of the game. things don't get bad, they get worse.
in the end it always targets those customers who are the most vulnerable, and i think we need to be calling that out.
There's a bunch of space games dude no man's sky elite etc
